That sequester scroll from a few episodes back was from Solven right? I wonder if the queen had made a few of those scrolls with the intention of hiding herself and Petal if things went badly. Maybe petal was hidden, but the queen was either unable or decided not to hide herself and that’s why one scroll was left (I think there were two scroll cases, one which held the scroll and a second empty one). A thought that I’ve been rolling through my head for awhile
I like that idea, however I'm pretty sure Mark couldn't remember where they got the scroll from. I'd imagine that if this theory is true, he would remember that they got the scroll from Solven as it would be a major plot point?

But there has been some questions around petal and the queen, and I really want to see more of Sentry's past and find out what happened to them. Because I do think that it was teased that the royal family escaped the destruction of Solven, but we don't know where they ended up.

I love puzzles but watching someone else solve them is extremely frustrating. Listening to this episode at work, the beginning was pure torture as I couldn't sit and write the puzzle down or focus enough to try to solve it mentally myself, but I really wanted to. 😁 I also really liked the soft piano music in the temple!

The guys have a very bad track record of being punished for trying to rest in the middle of things. First the vineyard Hadar portal opening, and now this. I worry that one day they'll choose to not rest, rush in without resources, and someone will die. Stupid snake child/adult wizard, escaping doesn't even help you, just let them sleep! (Every time I try and write this it somehow ends up sounding passive-aggressive towards Mark, which is unintentional because I feel he's a generally fantastic DM, so I'll leave it at that.)

The rules state that a long rest can include up to two hours of keeping watch. Keeping watch does not add to the time it takes to long rest. This has come up numerous times so I felt I had to say something at last. "A long rest is a period of extended downtime, at least 8 hours long, during which a character sleeps for at least 6 hours and performs no more than 2 hours of light activity, such as reading, talking, eating, or standing watch. If the rest is interrupted by a period of strenuous activity - at least 1 hour of walking, fighting, casting spells, or similar adventuring activity - the characters must begin the rest again to gain any benefit from it." (taken from dndbeyond because I can't be bothered to find the page number) Unless this is a house rule... in which case, carry on.
Especially miffed that the 4 hour elven tranced had an errata years ago and you do gain all your spells back. Which means Aila and Lucius can split the time between them. I think Mark just wanted to hand wave the whole thing. Which is fine if that's what your aiming for but communicate it properly to the table and don't play it like the villain is getting one over on the party.

Strength of 10? I would not call those heavy hanging chains to activate windtunnels. If i were in that room i would call those just regular hanging chains for activating Wind tunnels. The rigging on the stormchaser would be comparable if not heavier.

It would be the same for characters going to jail. They might heal their wounds, but not having their spell books, prayer books, spell components, etc, wouldn't be able to memorize any spells for the next day. So she might be able to use any natural abilities, but she wouldn't be able to cast any actual spells.
No, she wouldn't be able to change out her previously prepared spells. "You *can* change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest. Preparing a *new* list of wizard spells requires time spent studying your spellbook and memorizing the incantations and gestures you must make to cast the spell: at least 1 minute per spell level for each spell on your list." It's optional. If you choose not to change your prepared spell list, you don't need your spellbook.
Am so upset that kim did not just say, "since I am going to be gone Mark....while everyone takes a long rest I am going to bash that fake child's head in on my watch." 2:34:08 aw, i remember the baggy dysphoria hoodie phase. the enby rep is appreciated. and i know this is moot bc it aired like 4 years ago, but i would have suggested that if you struggle with misgendering npcs it's good to be clear about their pronouns above the table. and though i appreciate the subtle existence of trans people in the narrative, sometimes in the moment of introducing a character, people don't pick up on which pronouns to use through implied dialogue alone. just so they don't hear you misspeak and get confused, say something like "this character uses _/_" this is especially useful if a character uses more than one pronoun (ex: they/he, or even including neopronouns), so players know what is/isn't misgendering. Messing up happens, I get it, just trying to help provide tips bc you seem to have some trouble (at least you did four years ago) with keeping on top of pronouns. i haven't noticed you messing up much if at all yet in altheya? but if nothing else this long thing might help other dms idk. 2:55:59 also even in past tense, at least from a narrator voice, i wouldn't call phaedra "she"; i'd stick with their present pronouns bc they're still nonbinary despite not realizing/coming out yet. that's just my rule of thumb bc it errs on the side of dead naming to use their old pronouns.

Ok i just looked it up because im pretty sure elfs only needed 4 hours for a long rest. It turns out it used to work how mark stated but he later when back on his work and restated that elfs get a long rest with only 4 hours of sleep. So the more you know

I’m curious what Mark would have done, as a DM, if they had failed the Trial of Aeons. Surely the party can’t just be stuck in a different timeline forever?
For as much as Mark and Trott like bagging on Beast Wars, "the golden disc" sure seems to keep getting brought up. [For those on this side of 'the pond' unaware, pearl-clutchers at the BBC had the series *butchered* before airing in the UK because it was 'too violent'. They even mangled the name to 'Beasties'.]
I feel like it was done in general for certain countries in an international release. They did the same thing here in Canada. And it was all the more glaring since we usually have access to American broadcast singles alongside Canadian ones as well as cable. Which means we knew the show was called Beast Wars regardless. By the same token War Planets was produced as Shadow Raiders. And most of the animation was done by Mainframe Entertaiment, a Canadian company, anyway.
Loved the combat music, nice tension there. This be one heck of an interesting puzzle, figuring out the order and organizing the teams being integral to solving it is an interesting merge of requirements. And since this be DnD and not a videogame, you gotta figure it out and solve it first try, or bad end or stuff be happening. Hesperia is the source of the answers. It wasn't even a matter of asking the right questions. It's because it's meant to test the cleric that he wasn't allowed to use it as a cheat. I don't know if Tom bollocksed that up or he was RPing Quill being ashamed he got caught out and didn't want to admit it. Still it's silly to say the Titan was blocking its use as it gives a false impression that he won't be able to use it in the temple at all.
I find it weird how the spell is called “turn the faithless” when in every outside d&d fantasy reference I’ve heard it from it is “turn undead” or is that a spell as well and Sentry nor Qillek have it
It's a feature not a spell. In 5E it's a subset of Channel Divinity. Clerics and Paladins get access to it and depending on the subclass it is able to do various things. Sentry's subclass is Oath of the Ancients. They don't get Turn Undead but Turn the Faithless which works on Fey and Fiends instead. But since Clerics like Quill get Turn Undead in addition to any of their domain based Channel Divinity effects the party isn't losing anything by Sentry lacking the ability.

It's a shame they didn't get to the temple of hesper sooner. If they got there within 12 hours of starting, they would have got excalibur II.

and i know this is moot bc it aired like 4 years ago, but i would have suggested that if you struggle with misgendering npcs it's good to be clear about their pronouns above the table. and though i appreciate the subtle existence of trans people in the narrative, sometimes in the moment of introducing a character, people don't pick up on which pronouns to use through implied dialogue alone. just so they don't hear you misspeak and get confused, say something like "this character uses _/_" this is especially useful if a character uses more than one pronoun (ex: they/he, or even including neopronouns), so players know what is/isn't misgendering. Messing up happens, I get it, just trying to help provide tips bc you seem to have some trouble (at least you did four years ago) with keeping on top of pronouns. i haven't noticed you messing up much if at all yet in altheya? but if nothing else this long thing might help other dms idk.
2:55:59 also even in past tense, at least from a narrator voice, i wouldn't call phaedra "she"; i'd stick with their present pronouns bc they're still nonbinary despite not realizing/coming out yet. that's just my rule of thumb bc it errs on the side of dead naming to use their old pronouns.

For as much as Mark and Trott like bagging on Beast Wars, "the golden disc" sure seems to keep getting brought up.

I feel like it was done in general for certain countries in an international release. They did the same thing here in Canada.
And it was all the more glaring since we usually have access to American broadcast singles alongside Canadian ones as well as cable.
Which means we knew the show was called Beast Wars regardless. By the same token War Planets was produced as Shadow Raiders.
And most of the animation was done by Mainframe Entertaiment, a Canadian company, anyway.

This be one heck of an interesting puzzle, figuring out the order and organizing the teams being integral to solving it is an interesting merge of requirements. And since this be DnD and not a videogame, you gotta figure it out and solve it first try, or bad end or stuff be happening. Hesperia is the source of the answers. It wasn't even a matter of asking the right questions. It's because it's meant to test the cleric that he wasn't allowed to use it as a cheat.

I find it weird how the spell is called “turn the faithless” when in every outside d&d fantasy reference I’ve heard it from it is “turn undead” or is that a spell as well and Sentry nor Qillek have it
It's a feature not a spell. In 5E it's a subset of Channel Divinity. Clerics and Paladins get access to it and depending on the subclass it is able to do various things.
Sentry's subclass is Oath of the Ancients. They don't get Turn Undead but Turn the Faithless which works on Fey and Fiends instead.
But since Clerics like Quill get Turn Undead in addition to any of their domain based Channel Divinity effects the party isn't losing anything by Sentry lacking the ability.
