Hoping for the best with them! My female is approximately 9 years old now, she’s probably got one or two more years of breeding left. I definitely don’t want to push her.
Thank you Wayne! Despite the rigorous work that has been going into my degree. I’ve been able to find some time to film videos! Uploads may be stretched a few weeks. But I’ll try to keep somewhat of a more consistent schedule.
@@AlexsAgamids totally understand, I've not been as active on social media myself, been concentrating working with my big monitors and getting ready to breed my cwds, sailfins and basilisks, going to be a busy year
thanks fort the info. how do you feel about converting an old dresser or jewelry display case? i know there are a million things that have to be done, but if you have the piece of furnitrure , and igot them for free, i figured what the hay. so i guess my question is " do you think it would be cheaper to convert then paying 600 for the enclosure"
Honestly: no. While you might be able to “score” a furniture piece for relatively cheaper. The costs of modifying it, making sure it wasn’t sealed with any toxic sealant (as it being exposed to heat could release fumes, killing your dragon). Not to mention the costs associated with removing pieces to fit all the necessary lighting. From what I’ve seen on forums and social media: a lot of conversions never last long. Buying or building a cage from scratch is definitely the way to go for long term success. Cutting corners just wastes money and puts the lizards in inadequate setups long term.
I know this video is two years old but is there any way to update the links in the description? Some of them no longer work. I can't find UVA strips like you have only UVB.
@@AlexsAgamidsthanks man I really appreciate all of the help I’ve been getting from your videos setting up my own enclosure. Do you by chance know how many watts your UVB lights are?
Great videos! I have about a 8 -10 inch water dragon. We’re about to build him a wooden 5’x4’x3’ enclosure and going to use your great advice and buy all your recommended lights and setup. The only issues we’ve been having is him eating and digging. He’s been getting substrate in his eye and he’ll go days without eating. We offer him crickets and meal worms. Do you have any advice that would help him stop digging and help him eat more?
Typically Chinese water dragons dig when they attempt to "get out of" a clear barrier they cannot pass. I'm assuming you currently have the dragon inside a glass terrarium or fish tank style setup. I would advise covering all four sides of the glass in that case. Chinese water dragons stress very easily when they can see through clear barriers. By covering up any areas that the lizard can see out, it'll stop it from feeling exposed and hopefully encourage it to eat.
I just finished my custom enclosure with a tank on the bottom is 6ft tall and 3 1/2 wide .. but my waterdragon stay in the bottom all day in the water every night I need to take her out and put her on top to go to sleep I don't want her to stay in the water overnight.... What would be causing my dragon to stay in the bottom??
Could be a number of reasons. Sluggish behavior can be attributed to cold temperatures, stress, and other factors. Make sure everything such as the humidity, temperature, and diet of the dragon are dialed in first before assessing other factors!
Living an hour drive away from any pet stores feeding my 1 year old dragon is a chore. He refuses any greens or fruit (spits it out even) can they regularly eat night crawlers? I currently mail order crickets 1x per week. Any other suggestions?
Nightcrawlers make great food items! Start up a couple colonies of Dubia roaches as well! I mainly alternate between roaches, nightcrawlers, & crickets as my main feeders. (They don’t naturally eat greens or fruits. Just feed your feeder insects greens the night before they’re fed to your dragon. That way your feeders are nice and gutloaded!)
Start offering different foods. Most likely he’ll refuse. They can go a good while without food. So keep trying different feeders. Eventually it’ll give in once it’s hungry!

Solid video, good example of going above and beyond for your animals.
I bought a grow tent for my dragon. It's much cheaper and still nice and roomy. I think my 5 foot tall tent was $80 on Amazon.
nice to see you uploading alex, looking forward to the next one

Good question!
Mt UVB lamps are 39 watts each. (34” T5 ReptiSun 10.0 lamps by Zoomed)
