That's an idea for Scrapyeard Wars. Get a couple fans who work with Linus and Luke to build a PC. The fan is the ONLY person who can actually make the deals for parts. Linus nor Luke can call or communicate with anyone. They must use the fan as a surrogate for all purchases. I feel like this would eliminate a lot of the recognizing them and stuff like that. Linus and Luke can still look for deals and stuff like that online, and in the stores, but all purchases are done by the fan. It also gives a fan or two a chance to come have a really cool experience at LMG
Its a neat concept but would be hard since no offense but LMG fans probably aren't going to be the best around cameras (most youtube fans would be in the same boat). So while it eliminates the bias of them being recognized it also removes much of the story telling and chrisma that would be needed for an engaging video. Also the dynamic can easily get messy if Linus or Luke get slightly mean like they do with other crew.
Full version of Scrapyard Wars would probably CRUSH. I mean why not just put all the seasons in one?? like honestly that would probably do huge numbers over time.
I think as long as the total money spent, including selling unneeded parts to make up funds spent is totally fine. As long as the total cost after everything is acquired for judging is within budget. The over time thing, that was something else.
The key thing with the mega-long-form is that it's captuing the "fell asleep watching youtube" audience. Fall asleep, eventually you get served once, algorythm sees you "watched" this for 5hrs, thinks you really want to watch mega-long at 3am, keeps serving you mega-long whilst you sleep at 3am, channel has hella engagement.

The basics are always helpful. I built my first gaming rig like 2 weeks ago using the more recent "last guide you'll ever need" video, and there were nuggets in there that aren't present anywhere else. One example was the CPU install when the tension lever felt super stiff and gave me a lot of resistance, which made me feel like I had misaligned my Ryzen 9 7900X. It was specifically stated in the video that it's supposed to be like that. Now here I am playing Space Marine 2 at 4K 80 FPS on maxed settings.
Have to agree with luke if the idea is you have a STRICT limit when it comes to money , you shouldnt be able to use credit card to pay for it At the very least They should of been penalized for going over budget temporarily, or if they were guna do it Sell the parts, THEN buy the part, not to mention all the over time

Going over time was cheating, but they were punished fairly for it imo (it was also so uncessary, why did linus and sammi have to go everywhere together while luke and Elijiah split up - just Linus not thinking i guess). Luke did accept a whole bunch of additional (in addition to what was agreed on before he arrived) free stuff when not in disguise (PT 4 8:31) which directly went against the rules designed to avoid them using their status for free stuff. The SSD stuff was a little confusing for me with the edit, so I really can't say - sounds like Linus was fine based on a technicality, which to me isn't cheating but kind of what scrapyard wars thrives on; but idk. Eitherway, both sides cheated and bent the rules to try and win, Linus just did better -- I call it a fair win for Linus and Sammi.
As someone who still maintains a physical collection and a blu-ray player. I would happily purchase a blu-ray of any (and all) of the Scrapyard Wars in its entirety with all of the extras.
