You should please to listen to the Disturbed song, "Don't Tell Me," with David Draiman and Ann Wilson from Heart. They just dropped the video for it, but it's on the same album as this one - Divisive. 🙂
Totally agree. I also recommend the band Plush, who are on tour with Disturbed at he moment, Plush's lead singer, Moriah Formica, is standing in for Ann Wilson. She is a perfect person to do this, almost an Ann Wilson clone. Check out Plush's song "Run", or even their cover of "Barracuda", both of their "Find The Beautiful" EP.
One of the reasons I love your channel is that you do research before so you have understanding of the meanings of the songs. So many people don’t and just sound so dumb reacting to songs
That name song, remembers me an other song from Disturbed "Hold on to Memories"... it's hard to listen because of the lyrics, and if you watch the live video.. sure you'll cry.
I have watched alot of her videos and enjoy her commentary. I would recommend that you go deep into her channel and listen to her perform. She is truly a gifted opera singer. It will make you really appreciate her reaction videos. She is a world class opera singer who smiles and giggles at metal music. She is the most unpretentious contributor in the analysis/reaction genre.
This song reminds me of the band early work on "The Sickness" album. Even the vocals in the early part of this sound like it could be a part of the song Stupify. Nice to hear that emotion again that got them started.
I missed the premiere of this, but it's still a timely react. I just photographed Disturbed this past Friday for their tour kick-off in Peoria. These guys are just SO good live.
Honestly I feel like not to say other music doesn't have strong messages to there songs but metal stays consistent with always pushing heavy topics all the time. People just don't realize it nor do they take the time to bother listening to the music. Also love the video as always so good and love hearing how they are able to sing like this.
Re: losing David's vocals under the instruments sometimes: it *is* perhaps a little unfair to everyone else that David Draiman AND Dan Donegan are in the same band. It takes a pretty incredible guitarist to shove David to the back and it takes a pretty amazing vocalist to shove Dan to the back. And yet, here we are.
I particularly note that given the context of the lyrics, Dan Donegan’s guitar solo is almost certainly meant to evoke the sound of screaming, and it does so powerfully and (appropriately) disturbingly.
When speaking specifically about songs like this in regards to awards like the Grammys, songs like this need so much more attention because not only is it's message very resonant today, but it can easily apply to many people and situations throughout history, and will be able to apply to many more people and situations in the future. Such a strong message. The Grammys just want to award all the popular stuff that plays on the radio. So much good music completely ignored that should be getting these awards.
❤❤❤❤ love Disturbed!!!! You are always dead on with your reactions.... Saw your interview with David... it was Great. Thank you so much... love all your insights...
Great vid, i recommend you check out never too late by three days grace. Their one of my fav bands and I love Adam Gontiers voice. The live performance at the Detroit palace I think would be particularly interesting to analyze because there’s no production on his vocals.

I thought it was funny when right at that start after the initial play she commented something like “this is heavy, much heavier than earlier disturbed” when to me, this is disturbed, the lighter songs are the outliers. This is the sort of song where 6-7 seconds into the beat you know exactly who it is.
Hi Elizabeth! I hope you’re feeling better! I was also wondering if you were ever going to do some more analysis of Chester Bennington and Linkin Park. I would love to see what you think about their song Qwerty. The live version is AMAZING! It absolutely shows just how much talent and skill Chester has as a vocalist, switching between distorted and clean vocals back to back to back! I know that a lot of people who watch your channel would really love this! Get well soon!
When I hear about metal and the Grammys I get pissed because they picked the flute playing Jethro Tull over the legendary Metallica. That shows they wouldn't know metal if it came up and bit them on the ass
The song originated with guitarist Dan Donegan's riff, then David Draiman improvised the lyrics, which are heavily influenced by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Russians were invading Ukraine as Disturbed were writing the song, so Draiman felt it appropriate that they highlight innocents at the mercy of a bad man.

PLEASE cover the song "Don't Tell Me" Single was not released in time for Grammy nom, but it is AMAZING. It features the iconic Ann Wilson of Heart. She has done duets in the past, NONE of the male vocals have been strong enough for Ann Wilson's voice. Ann with David Draimon...WOW. This tour show was crazy. I've been fortunate with their last two tours, seeing them opening their tour in 2019 and then the same for the US leg in 2023 and the stage was insane for 2023.
Interesting. At first I thought this guitar solo was just lazy ad-lib like most of Kirk Hammett's late stuff, but now I understand Donegan made those screeching sounds ON PURPOSE and they actually fit the song.
Don't Tell Me featuring Anne Wilson is the song from Divisive you need to react too! Don't get me wrong I think Bad Man is a badass song. I enjoy your breakdowns of the songs. Much appreciated from you!
First "metal" song in decades??? Obviously you don't listen to these bands. Deftones,Tool or Cory taylor just a few. I just wish these bands I grew up to wouldn't give there political opinions... The united states shape foreign policy and conflicts that go on between other countries r mostly a result of r interference.. So many techniques in that solo - pinch harmonics, tapping, major trem bar action, even sounds like a bit of sweep picking. I also really like "in Another Time" - great message there too

I just realized something. Ghost's nominated track is an Iron Maiden cover. Specifically a Paul Di'Anno as vocalist track. I think it would be much more tasteful to do the original track rather than Ghost's cover. Or better yet. Do both versions. I think the Grammys picked that track because Ghost did it and Ghost do big business. (The Grammys have a weird habbit of picking bands doing covers, whether they are big hits or not). I like Ghost, but a Paul Di'Anno reaction is long overdue.

Wow! I must say that I totally enjoy your reviews: your deep knowledge and empathy... a rare mix. Dear Elizabeth -if I may- , have you ever considered reviewing Tom Waits '' God's away on business'' or maybe Cesaria Evora'' Negue''. On a more commercial note; Celine Dion and Ginette Reno singing'' Un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin'' Would bring you a nice surprise. Stephane.
Disturbed are kind of hit and miss with me, but I did like your take on it. I like your take on most everything that I've watched from you. It is a delight to see another music nerd "discover" some of these bands. I saw somewhere that you also like the power ballads. You should check out "I Remember You" by Skid Row. Or how about some Warrant? "Heaven" or "Sometimes She Cries" would fit the bill. Then there's "More Than Words" by Extreme (ok, that one is more of a straight ballad).
"Du Måste Finnas" by Helen Sjöholm, and "Guldet Blev Till Sand" with Peter Jöback. Two amazing swedish classics everyone should hear. Figured I'd just slide that in there.
The other lack of respect to metal is that they are almost never asked to perform on talk shows. Disturbed was one of the few but it was on a more mellow song. You should also put the group “Nothing More” on your list. The writing, instrumentations and vocals are superb.
Dead inside by david is amazing 🤩 featuring Nita Strauss on lead guitar . Video is anazing also and he hits a few high notes in that song . Alot different than this song . Another one thats close to my heart .
9:27 That "Y'ALL" melted my heart. I'm not a typical southerner as my religous beliefs, political views, hobbies and interests often vastly differ from the "good ole boy southern ways". But that "Y'ALL" was so adorable! Anyway, I love and enjoy your content! Keep it up!!
Totally random but PLEASE do a video on Christine and the queens especially the live performance in France of the song “full of life.” I fall in love with him every time I hear him and especially see him perform! ❤❤❤❤
May I humbly suggest: Elbow - Loneliness of a tower crane driver (Live at Abbey Road BBC) ... because Guy Garvey's voice is phenomenal and so alike to Peter Gabriel Speaking of P: Peter Gabriel - Father Son ... if you are not close to tears by the end of it, you're doing it wrong. Oh my, goosebumps. Spandau Ballet - Through the barricades One of the most forgotten and underrated hymns of the 80s, yet so much complex beauty in it. Please?
I stumbled upon the song "dear darkening ground" today, by the irish-belgian jazz singer Natashia Kelly. Amazing voice, goes straight to the heart. The lyrics are a poem by rainer maria rilke.
You really need to do a deep dive on the band "Imminence". Their lead Eddie Berg is a vocal masterpiece. His lows and high are so beautiful. For a first pick, I'd highly recommend "Erase". They are a younger band, but I strongly feel that they will be huge! Please consider it.
Disturbed is one of my all time favourite bands. This entire album is amazing and so varied. This music-video was also created using pictures generated with Midjourney AI, which creates that very special look of the images. As always such a great breakdown and wonderful reaction to such an angry (and as you say rightfully so) song. ❤🤘🤘
One song I still really want to hear your analysis on that I think would be interesting due to your Vocal background Elizabeth, is Nerrisa Ravencroft's cover of Lilium. I'd even go so far as to say if you want/could do a double reaction to the Original version that was performed by Kumiko Noma and then do Nerrisa's version.
From a melodic/vocal perspective, this sounds like it came right off "The Sickness Album" to me. Granted the instrumentals were a bit heavier and with a bit more distortion.
Hehe heavier than disturbed's earlier stuff. By the way really appreciate the almost 30 second break, think that would be good in every song you review when it hits its break down or chorus. Doubt you'll see this as it's an old video but I recommend Voices. Keep up the fascinating content. O Mistress is a hidden gem by Distubred.
I don't know if you've covered Indestructible yet, but if you haven't then that's a great example of a heavier, more powerful song from an earlier album. That "almost rapping" really comes out in that one, and it's just awesome!
13:38 not just a push of air, he’s beginning many lines with false cord engagement. Very dark rasp to start and set the tone and then he goes lighter towards the end of the line
You should please to listen to the Disturbed song, "Don't Tell Me," with David Draiman and Ann Wilson from Heart. They just dropped the video for it, but it's on the same album as this one - Divisive. 🙂

They really made that guitar solo sound like pain which matched the video.
Totally random but PLEASE do a video on Christine and the queens especially the live performance in France of the song “full of life.”
I fall in love with him every time I hear him and especially see him perform! ❤❤❤❤
I think you would enjoy the song Fade in/Fade out by the band "Nothing More"
Great reaction Elizabeth! If you want a live version, check out the one from The Take Your Life Back Tour.
May I humbly suggest:
Elbow - Loneliness of a tower crane driver (Live at Abbey Road BBC)
... because Guy Garvey's voice is phenomenal and so alike to Peter Gabriel
Speaking of P:
Peter Gabriel - Father Son
... if you are not close to tears by the end of it, you're doing it wrong. Oh my, goosebumps.
Spandau Ballet - Through the barricades
One of the most forgotten and underrated hymns of the 80s, yet so much complex beauty in it.
You should listen to one of the best System Of A Down song soldier side
If I could humbly suggest, listen to Bloodywood's "Dana Dan". Great message, amazing song!
The video is almost distracting from the vocals which come at you "like a machine gun" !
Not easy vocals. Like to see the live version.
I highly recommend David's 2nd band named "Device" a song called vilify is such a great example of his vocal range
Interview with David was very good, you have a way of engaging people with confidence and humility. Say Hi to Kirk
Found this extremely similar to their 2002 song "Prayer", like a much heavier version.
I can’t believe we haven’t got a Symptom of Being Human from Shinedown reaction yet.
The entire album, IMO, is full of bangers! Love me some Disturbed! 🤘🤘
I don't know if you've covered Indestructible yet, but if you haven't then that's a great example of a heavier, more powerful song from an earlier album. That "almost rapping" really comes out in that one, and it's just awesome!
Not a big fan of the band but gotta respect the voice
Nice, for more disturbed reactions i recommend "Numb", "Voices" and the classic "The Game" 🥳
13:38 not just a push of air, he’s beginning many lines with false cord engagement. Very dark rasp to start and set the tone and then he goes lighter towards the end of the line
The song is great. The video deserves an award as well.
