University protests: McGill heads to court for injunction to remove pro-Palestinian encampment

- Lawyers for Montreal’s McGill University were in court Monday seeking an injunction to dismantle the pro-Palestinian encampment that has been on its downtown campus since April.
The protesters are demanding the university divest from companies that they deem “complicit” in Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories and cut ties with Israeli institutions.
In a judicial application dated Friday, McGill says the encampment is a "security, safety and public health risk” that has escalated tensions on campus.
As Amanda Jelowicki reports, McGill is hoping for a swift resolution.

Waste of my tax money.
Yeah so tell the Canadian government to stop spending your tax dollars on Israel
Don't let Hamas take over the WEST!!!
Well your tax money is funding the genocide
Helping students isn’t a waste. Social security welfare is LOL
Agreed. What a joke this garbage is.
Pro hamas.

Oh boy, more little kids playing with tents 😮
You're triggered over a protest...
@@Rocksteady-hl2ks No not triggered over stuff like this, you just have to shake your head and chuckle
@@mylmo123 You're definitely triggered; get a grip on yourself...
You have to stop this ball of fire before it comes out of control
Then defund is-not-real and arrest all the politicians who are funded by that lobby.
So, tomorrow if anything wrong happens in the campus, the University officials will go to court, instead of handling themselves
These kids are clueless maybe go to school isn't that what a university is for
Maybe take your own advice and stop broadcasting your ignore online.

Who would the families sue if there was a fire and loss of life?
That’s a good question for the universities allowing these unsanitary, fire hazards
The Palestinians are cheering up for this chaos while the parents of students are using their tax dollars to feed the Palestinians. How ironic!

Can Chinese🇨🇳 people protest like this in front of Tiananmen Square?

“Although our open campuses welcome the public for many authorized activities, the University is private property.” ~ Fabrice Labeau, Deputy Provost
It’s private property, you don’t need an injunction, Call the cops
Frigging facts. Humoring their 'demands' 🙄 it's not peaceful. They keep lying and saying Jews are there, so it's okay like it matters.
McGill called the cops a couple of days after it started. They said no. Police don't enforce property trespassing if there is a protest involved. They don't want to get whacked by the politicians and activists for being on the wrong side of history.
The cops are not doing their jobs. They actually said that no laws are being broken. Uh, trespassing????
Defund the universities. Maybe dentistry and engineering should stay. But gender studies and all of sociology has to go.
Good on McGill for not letting the campers bring in portable toilets. Otherwise next they'd want free food.
What needs to happen is tuition for medicine, engineering etc should be nearly free. Sociology and "Studies" majors pay $30+K/year.
Have you actually been to university? Free meals are actually part of students plans, housing plans, etc. And those Free meals should be included, not all students have the funds for meals on top of tuition, boarding, etc.

University is over and has been for a few weeks. Most of these people aren't even students. What you just said makes no sense. But I do agree that these people need to go. They even resort to stealing materials to make fences and then claim that they didn't steal because it belongs to the Earth. What a bunch of idiots...
What exactly they want ? Go work and send money to help gaza, Ukrain, Yemen and many more countries( you will be surprised if you Google it ) . Childrens are killed there too, but there is no protests for that??? Why??? If you want peace it should be for all the kids no?
Hmm, if only you were literate and could read their very clear list of demands lol.
Teaching and learning institutions are for learning. They are not indoctrination sites for Hamas
this whole thing seems to be thought up and funded by the tent manufacturers association, incredible!

Protester are actually acting for terrorist. Its very bizarre that any Canadian would protest like this
Paid agents and their hapless tools spreading islamic jihad.
Yeah, no they're not lol. Did you ask any of them why they're there?
@@Riasat202 Anyone protesting for a terrorist gang is misinformed
Sorry, your scheming no longer works
It wouldn't be if the colleges had the guts to call in either the cops or campus security to clear them out. They don't need a court injunction to kick people off their land, they just need to do it.
They should start handing out fines and see how long the campers stay when it costs them thousands a day to stay there.
Also, in Canada it's illegal to cover your face unless for medical purposes. They should be taking their masks off.
And this is a major problem I have with our extreme immigration policies, bring enough people from a war torn country in and the conflict will follow with them.
They may be setting very poor legal president
😮 WHY THEY ARE NOT IN THE CLASS ROOM ?????
With colder weather and rain on the way I say let them stay.
Bla,bla, and bla.
So as their lawyer said, if it's not permanent then when is the ending date?
When McGill divests from apartheid and war profiteering.
Yes how long can they create a disaster on the campus
Will the clean up the garbage etc when they leave? Or will they hire people to do it?
Remember how the West mocked India "for not giving freedom to religious minorities" during the riots of farmers? Well, now the boot's on the other foot! Expecting the West to show how it's done!
What inevitably happens in all these occupation protests is the tiny sane minority gets on with more productive things and those that are left are basically insane. The homeless and drug addicts then start to come in for the free food and support. This is exactly what happened with the Occupy movements over a decade ago.
I think quebec governments is tougher than ontario. Here is quebec law if still in effect
That law, known as Bill 21, was passed in June 2019 and bans the wearing of religious symbols such as hijabs, kippas and turbans by teachers and other government employees deemed to be in positions of authority.Dec 9, 2021
What many people commenting forget is that if they are going to be forcefully removed, we will never be able to stand up to our government or institution management. Even if you do not support the cause, we live in a democratic and a free country and our right to protest accordingly and peacefully should be protected. It seems that the government is getting used to be heavy handed. We should support the students to speak up their minds and empower them instead of complaining about it. We need a stronger, and more independent new generation to have any hope for the future.
Well said. The vast majority of Canadians agree with your sentiment. The comments are not reflective, but rather certain bot armies engaged in social engineering.
Peace order and good governance. We have none. We will. Deport.
Baloney. You can show up every day and protest on public property as long as you do not break any laws. There is no right to occupy private property at all, let alone for weeks. What kind of precedent does THAT set???
@@JohnSmith-oe5kxThey seem to forget how important private property is to the Western way of life. Public land can be protested on as much as they want but there are also rules that you cant just setup a tent and sleep whoever you want. It's the stuff they are bringing that breaks the law. They can show up sun up sun down and protest as long as they want on my own campus after dispersment they found less than 25% of protestors are students. That means fully grown people are camping on University property who have not signed the code of conduct students have signed. This means the university is ultimately incapable of providing the safety that is necessary for students all the while students consistently complain about safety on campus with the homeless and drug epidemics running strong in our cities. They also found hammers, screwdrivers and needles during the clean up...
Recent gun laws are are terrible. Long gun registry, banning the 25 and 32 ACP, and now C21 which bans the ownership of pistols.
They aren't even students. Schools done. Get ride of this. It's ridiculous

Quebec has a long way to learn. Here in Alberta, the police went in and removed all those deadbeats. No need to negotiate an illegal occupation. Montreal police needs to grow some balls.
Even in Israel, they will not allow them. They can get first to Alberta level first then to israel

Quebec has.

Sigh
