    They charge you when you transfer money in to buy currencies and they charge you again when you want to transfer money back to your back. It's best to use your bank debit card or credit card. End of the day it's actually more convenient and less cost if you really look at the system properly.

    • @Monitodotcom
      @Monitodotcom  2 роки тому

      Hi Anne are you talking about Wise? If you deposit money via a debit or credit card this can incur fees but depositing money via a bank transfer is free of charge, or if you send money via SWIFT. But these are all pretty typical charges. They’re also a lot cheaper than a conventional bank account when it comes to spending money a foreign currency, in some cases as much as 10% cheaper! ^Jonny

      Depending which market you're fishing in you could give them the appropriate bank details. For example, if you're selling art in the US market on a website like Etsy then you would give them your US bank details and your name would remain private.
      If you were dealing with a private buyer then you would likely have to give them your full details on an invoice type payment with your Wise US account numbers and full-name. That said, if privacy is important then you can absolutely avoid sharing your name while still receiving money into your Wise account. Hope that helps, thanks. ^Jonny

    If I live in Singapore and want to withdraw from Singapore, how much I'll be charged? And can I transfer from Wise to Maybank Malaysia for example, there will be little fees depending how much you transfer or how?

    • @Monitodotcom
      @Monitodotcom  Рік тому

      Hey Ain. So in Singapore, you'll be able to withdraw twice per month for free up to 1000 MYR. After that, you'll be charged a fee of 1.75% + 5MYR per withdrawal (wise.com/my/pricing/card-fees?sourceAmount=1000&sourceCcy=MYR&targetCcy=EUR). As you'll be transferring the money locally then there shouldn't be any fees. Hope that helps. ^Jonny

    Thank you for the tips, it helps a lot.
    But I’m facing problem with my card.
    I’ve activated my Wise card and when I tried to pay at KFC, Guardian and chain hypermarket, my payment cannot go through, the one at KFC it doesn’t even let me enter my PIN.
    I have contacted Wise support on this and they told me that my card is activated and they saw that my transaction at KFC was declined, tho I have sufficient money in my card.
    Any idea why is this? And one more question, is there a minimum amount of money you will need to have in order for you to make purchases at shop? Example my card has MYR10 and the purchase I’m trying to make is MYR5. Will the card let me buy the thing?

    • @Monitodotcom
      @Monitodotcom  Рік тому

      Hey! There isn't a minimum purchase price for the card and any transaction, however, small should go through. This may have been the fault of the merchant.
      Besides your card not having enough funds I'm not sure why it wouldn't work, as long as it's active and you have the funds then you should be able to make a purchase. Have you had any luck since you commented? ^Jonny

      I'm in the same boat and hoped to change my Wise card default currency after moving countries. Now I've found out that the default currency can't be changed after the physical card has been issued, even after changing countries. But the workaround I discovered is to activate a new virtual digital card. Its default currency should reflect that of your Wise current residential address. Hope this helps. I love my Wise and plan to use it someday as my only (global) bank account.

    If I have more than 1 account eg MYR, Euro & AUD all with credit balances and I travel to Australia, will my spending be automatically debited from my AUD account? Or do I have to select it?

    • @Monitodotcom
      @Monitodotcom  Рік тому +1

      If you spend money in AUD, then it will begin by debited your AUD account. Once that runs out, WISE will debit whichever account will give you the most favourable exchange rate. So if MYR is stronger than EUR against the Australian Dollar then WISE will debit your MYR account. This is known as their 'Smart Conversion Technology' (wise.com/help/articles/2935778/what-if-i-spend-money-in-a-currency-that-i-dont-have-in-my-account).
      Hope that makes sense! Thanks. ^Jonny

Meaning if i were to withdraw money from an atm outside of sg does the limit and fees depend on the country that I'm withdrawing it from or it is only up to sgd350 twice for free?

      Hey Amani! Great question, the withdrawal limit is the same no matter where you are withdrawing money. There's a chance it could a tiny bit different due to foreign exchange rates but ultimately it will be around 1000MYR or the currency equivalent. ^Jonny

    HI, Im Indonesian who living in Europe and still confusing about currencies another european countries if i visit them. In your opinion, which one should i choose, revolut or wise for traveling?
    I use wise to send money from Europe to Asia and look simple and try to get wise card but in queue and may took too long time. And i curious about revolut because usually it appear as ads in my phone, shit
    International banking is something new for me, and i really need someone's opinion who know about that. thanks.

    • @Monitodotcom
      @Monitodotcom  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Rafif. Without getting too complicated, if you can wait in line and get the Wise card then that would be ideal. If you can't wait then Revolut will still be a good choice as unless you're exchanging massive amounts of currency, both will be pretty similar in terms of fees and exchange rates. Although Revolut do charge a small exchange rate mark-up on the weekends.
      So if you go with Revolut just remember to exchange your currency during the week. For example, let's say you visit Barcelona. Just load up your Revolut card with Euros during the week and then you'll be able to spend those Euros for free while you're in Barcelona. I know this can be confusing, don't be afraid to keep asking me questions if you have any. I'll be happy to answer. ^Jonny
