One of the things I incorporate into my week is a meditative walk. It’s a walk where I go in silence, usually with Mandalay my beautiful Collie and I set out to simply be, ask a question, or set an intention for which I’d like insights. My favorite thing to do on one of these walks is to find a quiet place, even if it’s off the beaten path and sit and actually meditate. As I close my eyes, I feel a softening of all around me, my mind quiets and I feel truly present and centered. As I open my eyes, the colors are much more radiant and I notice things in nature I did not observe in the same way before my meditation.
I invite everyone to allow yourself to explore this amazing experience. It’s so funny because I began this experience with my previous dog, Amadei. She had surgery and the vet said that she could go out for a 20 minute walk out and back. As we walked to a 20 minute turnaround, I felt her suggest that we sit for a few minutes; and so we did. I would lay down on the red rocks as she sat close, and meditate for 20 minutes. At first the ground seemed hard, yet I found myself melting into the Earth which hugged my heart and spirit. It’s wonderful!
So here’s to celebrating you and inviting you to embrace that beautiful heart of yours with the natural world!
