    What would you have asked Derek Jeter?

    • @Lord_Bibulous
      @Lord_Bibulous Рік тому +1

      I wouldn't ask him anything. But I'd tell him that I understand the feeling that Joe DiMaggio gave to fans of his day. Jeter was our Joe D. Always calm, the moment was never too big, handled the media with ease. A privilege to watch his entire career.

      Derek which is your favorite baseball player, Captain, shortstop, team owner or commentator. Since your game is very mental as well as physical which position served your skill set best? What did you enjoy the most?
      Would you have played differently now that that you have experienced all the different aspects of baseball and you analyse how others play? Your game was thorough and above reproach but just strategy wise would you want to do anything different in baseball in any of the positions you've held?

    I've never ever liked the Yankees, but I have so much respect for Derek Jeter. Him, Paul O'neil, Bernie Williams, Tino Martinez, and so many more. These guys, were scary awesome.

      Mariano Rivera too, and Joe Torre as manager. Unfortunately, that dream team beat my Mets in the Subway Series. I liked the players, really disliked a lot of their bandwagon fans.

    I'm in the opposite boat to most. While I respected his talent/abilities as a player, I never cared for nor liked him. A lot of it had to do with the things he did against my team(s), but yeah... always had an "eugh" reaction when everyone couldn't stop waxing poetic and singing this dude's praises and giving him basically the highest Q-rating all time in sports.
    But damn... he is a likeable guy and extremely gifted even post-career in these and other settings in the media. Thanks for sharing this awesome interview

    Regardless of what fans think, and there are a couple of commenters here talking about how maybe too many people saying his praises, the bottom line, and what is most impressive is that his peers, teammates and competitors alike, both liked and respected him.

    I always liked Jeter; not flashy,just played the game the right way....and the fact that he stayed out of the bright lights,despite playing in NY....you never heard of any' off-the- field' stuff....say what you want about the Yankees;but, those teams Jeter was a part of...fun to watch.....

      He was our Joe DiMaggio in that regard. The difference is DiMaggio was able to deny media access.

    The Captain needs to be in a front office somewhere, working behind the scenes. A team where he has control and would fit.

    Maybe the next measure for analytics is that managers should have a heart rate monitor for pitchers so they can evaluate whether to pull them out or not haha

    the a.l. east proved that the regular season is a different animal from the playoffs. in a short post season series, there is more room for stars to choke and under-achievers to get their adrenilin going. despite 3 entries the oakland a's tied them in total playoffs games won, lol

      I love DJ but everyone understands - HE HAS EVER BEEN A GM. Why would we think he will slide into that role and have his only benchmark of success being a World Series every year. I mean homeboy a few post above crucified him as an announcer after two weeks of being on air. What happens to Derek Jeter, "the brand"after 2 seasons of not making the playoffs ? I actually like Mattingley as a potential GM , Theo Epstein is another

    I like Derek Jeter in many ways.... he is not a broadcaster of any kind... that show with Arod, Ortiz and he is abysmal. It's as bland as a blank screen on TV... Arod is the only one with a real ability to BS thru his fake smile...Derek looks like he would rather be anywhere else but discussing MLB matchups ... I hope he finds his post MLB career calling.... TV is not it IMO.

    • @bruisersdilemma354

      I'd have to agree, although he seemed much more comfortable in this interview setting and really appeared to open up just a bit more than normal. A podcast might be best for him, but would he commit to it? Doubt it.

      @jasonbv3887 Рік тому

      Im reading your post and wanted to ask, how good at your first job were you after your first two weeks? That said, I agree that these shows hosted by former players, many just recently out of their sport suck. its all sports shows - NBA, MLB and most of all NFL. I really don't want to hear RG3 relive why he didt make it, or see Rex Ryan in a close up shot, in HD. Best commentaor of all time - Doc Emmerick (RIP)...He didnt play hockey
