It’s so cool how you guys decorate your hospital rooms in america! In England we are usually put on a ward with 4+ other people and the most decoration most people do is a blanket and maybe a couple of pictures. You’ve made it like a really cool room!

I’m in the uk and once I’m on the respiratory ward I usually get my own room as I have very severe asthma and a low immune system due to meds so they avoid colds etc so I don’t have to stay in as long:) I don’t decorate my room but I get a tv and bathroom

Mary Jane I dropped by and The Frey Life too. I’m so glad you guys seem to be getting so much support and love from your families. Years ago I spent over 11 months in hospital in one go (including Christmas day and Easter day that on those two days I was pretty much alone, except after The disgusting Christmas lunch, my parents did come to visit me they had presents for me but I was too sick to open them. I think Mum pretty much open them for me which kind of defeats the purpose but anyway - Her love was there! I was pretty much by myself except for my parents will drop by after work, & it was my Dad’s last year of work before retiring - they came by every single day that I was in hospital without fail, but I kept my parents very busy there is to the time as they were As they had my guide dog full time. But they never brought food. Unfortunately in Australia, beside Subway I don’t know where to get something quick that is healthy but and I love to load my sub up with all different salad ingredients and veggies, with very very little dressing. So I’m just so grateful that my parents could be there to look after my precious little guy dog when I couldn’t and me. Unfortunately now they are getting older and it is becoming more evident. As much as I love the frey life I sometimes feel lonely. I think it’s a good thing you got the Picwood you are clinchers the speakers in time you will not have the option of being knocked out. I don’t get offered anything any more, as a surfer from extreme chronic pain; are used to it least get a set of morphine that not because the pic line itself hurts but just laying on the table hurts my back. I don’t even get that anymore: different doctors different hospitals different doctors, different hospitals, different protocols... Just as you’re allowed to go downstairs and buy your own coffee where is Mary is pretty cool states that she is not allowed… Best of luck with everything sweetie - but I’ll keep watching your vlodgs…
My sister which is 15 and my sister that is 21 also have cystic fibrosis and the get admitted into children’s hospital for about 2 weeks and they also used to do Ivs but they didn’t like it because you had to spend an extra week there so they get a pic line and they only have to stay for 2 weeks and finish the third week at home.
Why don’t you get a portacath a chest port it’s much better they can use it every time for blood labs and any thing els you would be receiving threw an iv they would do threw the port also what are the brown pills with the white dots for iv taken something like that before
In some cases putting in a port isn't so easy, as it can affect lung transplants in the future, it can get blocked easily and cause infections etc, usually ports are only put it if they cannot find ANY veins that will work for medication, I went through months of torture and pain with needles and medication due to my veins collapsing so much as the medication we get tend to be to strong for our veins to handle, in which i ended up having to get a port placed but of course there is always serious cautions that you have to think through for in the future if you're willing to put your lungs at risk and sign papers just in case if anything goes wrong with the port.
I’m 12 my name is Kylee and I’ve had several ports and I have a double lumen port in my chest and I can still be perfectly fine I have it because I have medication that has to go through me in a liquid form at night and the reason it’s there is because I have a medical condition I’m not going to go to foreign to you but I don’t eat like real people so I get fluids through my port at night

I would too, being in the hospital isn't fun. You want to go home, and having things helps to make it feel more like home. And just be she you're sick doesn't mean you don't care about what you look like. Getting ready and looking good helps you feel better even when you're sick.

Do the hospital not have a microwave and toaster? Can’t believe how much stuff you take into hospital😂 Over here in England we have kitchens on the wards where you can make food and keep things in the fridge. If someone tried to bring in as much stuff as you do they’d be laughed at! Xxx

Nuuuu but It’s because I’ve got cardiac arrest they need to different stuff to my stomach and stuff just in case I stop breathing or what but I made myself at home as well I just put Michael Jackson stuff on my wall and I have Michael Jackson blanket XD And some books just in case I get bored and my night clothes at the bottom of my bed

All CF patients carry bacteria and and viruses in there lungs and an there over grow which causes the hospital stays but if you put them together they pass these back and forth to each other. My son who is 20 has CF. The weakened immune system and the germs everyone Carry's in their lungs cause them to get sick. even the smallest cold can be deadly for a CF patient.

being in a hospital for weeks at a time can be absolutely horrible, you get incredibly lonely and bored so bringing stuff from home to make the stay more comfortable helps a lot!!!! It’s also very common, whenever I have long stays I bring a lot of stuff from home

I bet it’s because for us in England it’s through the NHS but in Canada and the USA it’s not x
I was with 7 other people so we couldn’t fit a wheelchair near the bed.

Ports also have a very high infection rate so if they don't absolutely have to put one in, they aren't going to
I have cf too. My hospital room is big too. No fair you get a tub we only have a shower

I just got out of the hospital (for a surgery ) and oh my god having the IV in your hand is the worst you can’t bend ur freakin hand

we have kitchens on the wards too! but since i'm in isolation its just eaiser to have everything right there, a lot of CF patients here do it :)
