I’ve seen a lot of videos about car maintenance and most of them are aimed at car enthusiasts like me. This is probably the most precise and complete routine checks of a video that any car owner should do to ensure the car would be in good working condition.
My dad is going away to work so I’m just trying to learn as much house yard and vehicle maintenance information as possible, I found this video very helpful
Just decided to learn more about auto repair. I'm 55 Disable due to Parkinson. Money is tight being on SSDI. Last year I learn Gardening growing a lot of food in our back yard helped with our food bill. Now. this year my goal is to learn auto repair. Just got hit with a $400.00 car repair bill. I can do basic stuff like checking the fluids changing batteries, changing head lights. I even change the spark plugs, I know that can to everything at home, can you help me get started. Thanks was thinking about take a auto class at a Vocational school just to learn the basics.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos! Going down the Mechanic path for school and hopefully work my way up to engineering. Thanks again -Andrew
Excellent video content! Excuse me for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Tarbbatigan Cars Rehabilitation Tip (just google it)? It is a smashing exclusive product for learning how to repair your car the easy way minus the normal expense. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my BF got excellent results with it.
This video helped a lot!! I'm getting my first car next week and I want to make sure I know how to take care of it. I've been watching your other videos, too. They are all very informative. Thank you!!
This first video was rather helpful! I’ve always loved cars and I always will but I really wanna have more of an understanding of them and knowledge of repairing and maintenance on the engine!
+ChrisFix this would be such an awesome video idea, I'd love to see your version. " 10 things all first time car owners should know new car or used " Lol
I’ve been working on bikes for about 4 years. The winter in Canada doesn’t create good business for a local bike shop. I love cars, I wanted to weld. But this seems like the perfect job for me.
I googled "things to know about cars" and it was all racecars and really suped up cars and i was like "nah man, give me the videos from 10 years ago" and i found this gem. 😄
If you’re referring to the brake fluid, (the one near your feat) then I’m sure it’s fine, usually there aren’t too many problems other than just needing to refill it.
Great Video clip! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your thoughts. Have you thought about - Tarbbatigan Cars Rehabilitation Tip (search on google)? It is a great one off guide for learning how to repair your car the easy way without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my BF got amazing results with it.
Doing my own studying before I get hired as a general technician with Bridgestone God willing so that I can have knowledge of auto repair and this is very informative, thank you all for uploading this and taking the time to make it. I live in San Antonio, TX. GO SPURS GO and a big shot out the RIO GRANDE VALLEY, CAMERON< WILLACY< HIDALGO AND STARR counties. HARLINGEN,TX is where I grew up on S.16th and Little Creek. God bless
Good, helpful video. But I do have to say, the way you shoved that air filter in without properly removing the top cover was extremely unprofessional and downright lazy. The fact that you even decided to show a zoomed in edit of you doing it is beyond belief. If you didn't know how to remove the cover then why didn't you "check the manual"? LOL
+sugarandpie Excellent Video! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you researched - Tarbbatigan Cars Rehabilitation Tip (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for learning how to repair your car the easy way without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my BF after many years got astronomical success with it.
as mrjost55 said this video is a little vague. Oil is usually a lighter brown, brake fluid is light brown,Coolant is usually green or orange, when checking the air filter grab a flashlight and shine it underneath facing up and if you can't see the light its better to change it, when checking oil grab a paper towel and wipe it then put it back in and take it out and check it with the handle facing down to get a accurate reading, with tire pressures its easier to check the drivers door.
Great video man! I'm 16 and I'm getting a 5.0 Ford Mustang in about a month or two. This video will surely come in handy for a new driver like me. Thanks.
it's good to know that put the air filter cover back may take a little efforts, some video just cut it off and make it looks too easy; it makes people think `am i doing the right thing now, should this be so hard`.
Could you please make similar video about Toyota Camry 2012 hybrid! Things to check, things to change and how often should things be checked/changed ( cabin filter.......)
Honestly, I don't feel like I learned anything. I can't tell what I'm supposed to be looking for with the camera either being so far away or obnoxiously zoomed in to the point that I can't tell where in the car he's working on...
If I'm correct this air filter is a high performance one wich can be cleaned. No need to change it, especially by a basic one. And you change high-end wipers by basic ones as well.
typical move by mechanics. If the customers aren't familiar with parts then they use the cheapest ones possible to get the job done and increase profit.
Do your own maintenance yourself if you can! It will save you a lot of money and you'll know it was done correctly. I track my maintenance schedule using software on my laptop www.lonewolf-software.com/automotivewolf.htm It sends me reminders when any type of maintenance is required. It also tracks all the parts, expenses and creates a very detailed vehicle maintenance log.
This is pretty much very essesntial. If you just drive your car without learning basic maintenance, then you better start learning from this video. You'll never know when accidents might happen, it's best to prevent them beforehand. Good vid, very informative.
Ben's right, what the car manufacturer recomends is what you should go by in most cases. Most manufacture air pressure recommendations can be simply found on the side of the drivers' door panel and in some vehicles the gas cap cover. The wall of the tire only tells the max air pressure which is not good to go off of since this number is usually higher then the recommended and meant for the most strenuous capacity the vehicle can take, not typical driving. Most cases you'll only have to worry
Hi, first thanks for the great series, I really appreciate the videos. Regarding changing the wipers, it is always good to place a rag or some kind of a cover on the windshield since wiper arms/blades could crack the windshield when they dropped fast carelessly or by mistake while holding the arm with one hand. Keep it up and stay dirty!
I feel like there were a lot of crucial topics of automotive repair hit in this video that every car owner needs to know if they want to own a car. The big ones are reading tire pressure, checking oil levels, and checking your anti-freeze to identify leaks or low levels. For anyone who thinks they are ready to do their own mechanic work now, who thinks they could benefit from using their soap after working on their car? www.naturesgardencandles.com/candlemaking-soap-supplies/item/00mecsoa/-mechanics-soap-recipe.html
We can see that you check the fluids but I feel like you glossed over some parts that we should be able to see more clearly such as how to measure the level of oil when you check the oil stick etc. I know this but for people who are learning the basics they really need to see a close-up of that and an explanation of where the oil levels need to be
I love your video content! **Problem** I have a 2005 GMC Yukon XL 5.3 Vin# 1GKEC16Z75J154574. Start no crank problem until 2nd start attempt. Checked fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel rail. With the Key on but not started the pressure indicates 25+- psi but quickly declines to 0. Checked after vehicle starts pressure holds steady at 48psi. Once vehicle cranks no problem accept a light rough idle. Fuel pump is original from factory. Current mileage is 241k. I don't see a fuel regulator to check. Anything else to do before replacing fuel pump. Hesitant to replace pump cause once cranked there are no problems. I thought fuel pump failure was all or nothing. Thank you for your help.
I mean I love cars and my cousin is a technician. i work as a porter and would love to learn about being a technician. but have no basic knowledge of maintenance on cars but I really want to learn.
i job as a car mechanic, when i look the tyre pressure i never look at the recommended pressure becuse i think its always pretty low so i look how big the car is and put pressure with that knowledge
Question: does it matter whether you check the tire pressure when the vehicle weight is sitting on the tire, or when the vehicle is propped up, like how you have it in the video?
with the age of electric cars on the horizon, we're gonna look back at internal combustion cars as so archaic. just watching this and just the maintenance with all the fluids and so many components, a revolution is not too far away.
This man did everything in his power to remain professional and not cuss out everything in a 10 mile radius
Very nice 👍
I know this all too well 😂
Posted 10 years ago and still helping out folks like me! Thank you!

Very simply explained, even answered all of the worries I had about the car
Knowing how to handle one's vehicle has to be one of the most badass things ever..
I need to learn.
Bout to go to vocational school so I prepared myself watching this
This first video was rather helpful! I’ve always loved cars and I always will but I really wanna have more of an understanding of them and knowledge of repairing and maintenance on the engine!
That head light fluid looks a little low. You might want to top that off.
I stuck a screwdriver they mine and filled her right up
HAHA OMG I GET IT CUZ HEADLIGHTS DONT USE FLUID BIG LAUGH
Meat Dragon haha good one Chrisfix has blinker fluid somewhere on his channel I seen a few days ago
It’s best to leave it when it’s low. Less dear-hitting
useful for rookies like me!
I'm surprised the air filter is still in 1 piece the way he shoved it in!
probably the best channel about cars in youtube
+ChrisFix this would be such an awesome video idea, I'd love to see your version. " 10 things all first time car owners should know new car or used " Lol
What do I need to do to ask about a problem
Really enjoying the video series, very informative!

Yeah don't bother elaborating what is good and what is bad.
Normally it's written on the cap. The levels are on the side of the container.

Filter looks like it lost some life getting crumpled like that and he could’ve got some dust and dirt in there rubbing on the cover like rhat
THANKS ALOT FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE
Very good and simple thanks
Car maintenance should be an all-encompassing routine covering both the exteriors and the interiors.

When you do tire pressure you go by what is on the wall not the owners manual because the tires may be different from the original
The "old" air filter looks like a K&N reuseable filter. The kind you wash and re-oil.
Sembly and good show
