We were so regimented and controlled by the raid leads back in vanilla BWL, I barely knew what the place actually looked like. As a druid I healed on all but 2 fights (I tanked those, because I had farmed all the BiS bear gear). So I knew what Nef's chamber was like, and Broodlord's area, but the rest was just staring at health bars and closely following the healing officer. 😆
It really is actually. The stakes, and the emotional experience, is second to none. It only isn't a good "investment" if, for some reason, you care about the accumulation of digital bullshit you'll likely discard in the future anyway, lol.
I agree. I'm addicted to watching them as an old fart who played WoW from beta thru Legion. Getting such good nostalgia endorphins from these videos. Good memories, and I can't believe players are this bad playing Classic Hardcore.
That Paladin tank forgot the 1 fundamental thing about trying to play a Protadin. You do not tank instances with Bosses that have forced tank switches. I don't care if it's a gouge. You don't do it. Because you can't taunt. You're fine in most other instances. But if the instance has even one boss that has a forced tank switch as a mechanic of any kind.. you do not go there with your tank gear on. Period.
The plan was for the voidwalker to eat the first sleep and then we would nuke the boss, but the mage was casting max rank frostbolts instead of wanding and passed me on threat.
Funfact: Asmongold may not have made WoW, but Blizzard made WoW, and when they released it **the official website** listed Paladins as ***THE*** Tank class. This was updated quickly after release when it became obvious Paladin tanks just couldn't cut it. Why? Because between Beta and release they entirely overhauled the Paladin class without any actual testing...
Asmon is 100% right. In Vanilla WoW, Paladins didn't have the threat generation to be tanks. You could use a Protection spec if you were mob farming, it was godly, but for group content, they couldn't tank. All main tanks were Warriors, and sometimes if someone was really good you would have a Druid as an off tank who would also serve as backup heals and DPS when an off tank wasn't needed. Paladins weren't viable tanks until Wrath. Just old fart who is having nostalgia kicks from watching these Classic vids.
Watching these rogue clips I wonder why no one levels as subtlety. If you get to level 30 it's smooth sailing until the end, you simply can't die with prep. You can even start as combat and respec at 30. Double vanish, double blind, double sprint, double kidney, absolutely loved leveling my rogue in era as sub.
Or at the very least wait for vanish CD to finish before going back to the EXACT mob that made you need to vanish in the first place 😆. The rogue in southshore so deserved to die
HC is always about yourself first, and everyone else comes a distant 8th. When a simple mistake by you or some one else can get you killed, do whatever you can to survive.
The hardest thing about Hardcore is the DCing and honestly what killed it for me. Lost 2 characters to DC and that pissed me off a lot more than losing 3 other characters just by playing the game. Personally just killed the fun of it for Hardcore is spicy enough to make Classic quite fun for outside of it it is rather very boring and bland. Though too many people say "No changes" even with lag and dc which is fine as their opinion but it's just stupid to be penalized for something outside your control. HC will probably not go beyond classic for it will get too ridiculous and time consuming especially as long as lag and DC stays valid for losing your character.
Everyone wants the panic buttons that rogues and hunters have because their scared to die in hardcore and then they finally get to 60 and kill themselves because they can’t get into dungeon groups because there’s a million hunters and rogues. 😂
Why in the world would they bring a lvl.51 pala tank for sunken temple when the boss is lvl.54, he has no taunt and every member in the group is higher level than him. That's like asking the game to wipe the floor with you.
As a Paladin Tank main, who started towards the end of Wrath, I always took it personally when he said that Paladins aren't tanks in classic. Til I played classic....you can't effectively tank without a taunt
