    Great video! Ross Baron is one of my heroes. He was my institute director in southern California. His love and passion for the scriptures and gospel living and his powerful teaching style has been a major catalyst for the way I study and teach. Tons of great memories learning from him.

      @Bookofmormoncentralofficial they do the same with the Bible, and it's sad Mormons have that same view of the Bible.
      Which is why Mormons R fallible about the Bible and Historical Christianity.

      Agreed. Ross Baron should go on the Dennis Prager show and have a religious discussion. That would be an enlightening discussion.

    We were so excited to have you at Citrus College Institute for our children, brother Baron. Our kids were so sad, after you were plucked from a growing institute program, to BYU-I, against your wishes.

    Not only is it legitimate that the Book of Mormon should be questioned, but it's also legitimate for the Bible to be questioned. Each testament should be given a witness of their truth and divinity through the Holy Ghost.

    I am going in the opposite direction compared to Ross Baron. I am trending from a Latter-day Saint thinking to a Jewish thinking on Jesus. He mentioned a comment that the Old Testament is opaque on the scriptures on Christ. The problem is that he didn't describe the term within the video.
    It is not that the Old Testament is not opaque, but the information is scant.
    Christ is the Greek term for Messiah, which means "Anointed One".
    Anyone who is anointed can be considered a Messiah like Priests, Prophets, and Kings. Cyrus the Great, a Persian, is considered a Messiah because he liberated the Israelites from the Babylonians.
    The idea of Messiah that will conquer foreign enemies to usher in peace for the entire world is found in Old Testament Apocryphal books like the Enoch I and II, Wisdom of Solomon and the Dead Sea Scrolls. There are three different Messiahs. Messiah Ben Aaron, Messiah Ben Israel and Messiah Ben David.
    The Synoptic Gospels associated Jesus as the Son of Man, which is a different character compared to any of the Messiahs.
    The descriptions of the Messiahs and the Son of Man don't involve atonement, dying on the cross, and resurrecting after three days.

      Hello! May I say one thing? I hope you don’t mind. All the prophets, from every dispensation, beginning with father Adam, testify of Jesus Christ. Many can be saviors and messiahs (deliverers), this is so true! However, there is only one Only Begotten son of our Father in Heaven. ❤️He was born into mortality, just as each one of us has been. Jesus of Nazareth was born in the line of David.(A Jew). So he is called the Son of David. His physical father, is Heavenly Father. 😀 Many prophets have testified (including Isaiah) that he would suffer and atone for all of us, Would be crucified, and then rise again on the third day. Please don’t take my word for it. Ask Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, if this is true.😊

      @spencerlercher4059 4 місяці тому

      Hi @designmybestlife, thank you for the thoughtful and heart-felt reply.
      The difference comes down to explicit versus implicit references of Jesus.
      Explicit reference means the black and white text contains Messiah with a description of what he will do.
      Implicit reference means a symbolic interpretation of the text.
      Isaiah's suffering servant doesn't include "Anointed"or "Messiah" within the actual text of chapters 52 and 53.
      Isaiah 49:3 explicitly identifies the servant as Israel. "And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified."
      The New Testament writers re-interpreted the Isaiah suffering servant as a reference to Jesus as a symbolic reference to explain the meaning of his death.
      If someone accepted the New Testament symbolic reference of Jesus as the suffering servant because they find more meaning by personal experience or if it fits the description better than Israel, I wouldn't have a problem unless a claim is made that this was Isaiah's intention.

    Jesus is powerless on his own:
    All of the power that Jesus has comes from the one true God, the Father (2 Corinthians 5:18). Jesus is powerless without God. God GAVE all power and authority to his Son (Matthew 11:27; Matthew 28:18).
    It is God the Father who possessed Jesus in the beginning, before his works of old (Proverbs 8:22);
    It is God the Father that is the reason that Jesus lives, for it is God who raised Jesus from the dead (John 6:57, Romans 8:11);
    It is God the Father who teaches all things to Jesus (John 8:28);
    It is God the Father who commands Jesus to say and speak his commandments for everlasting life to us (John 8:28; John 12:48-50);
    As Jesus has told us, we are to serve and pray to God only (Matthew 6:9; Luke 4:8). Those who do not know the Father cannot know the Son, for it is the Son who spoke of the Father and came to finish his work (John 8:19; John 4:34).

      Good points. However, let us remember that "The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost are one." This truth helps us offset our innate desire to see their work as being divided, and it testifies of how absolutely united they really are.

    • @pahukolofoou
      @pahukolofoou 5 місяців тому

      And your point? According to your point, does it mean we disregard the redeeming power of the Son, Jesus Christ?
      In the very beginning, God was the Father of all our spirits including Jesus Christ. We know that. Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God. Even Jesus acknowledged His Father as God the Father.

    • @Shawn-q3x
      @Shawn-q3x 5 місяців тому +1

      @@pahukolofoou The only way to God [the Father] is through the Son. It is _impossible_ to disregard the redeeming power of the Son when it is the Son who has been our advocate and is the only way to have salvation in the first place. The problem is that people see Jesus as God instead of his Father. No man has seen God, yet most people say Jesus is God. That is the problem; there is no “God the Son,” only the “Son OF God.”

    • @Shawn-q3x
      @Shawn-q3x 5 місяців тому +1

      @@jeffreyyeager1094 The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one in agreement in spirit and in truth. They are not one being, contrary to popular belief.
      We are told to become one, even as THEY are one (John 17:21-23). This means we are to become one in total alignment and will with God the Father, just as Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one in agreement.
      "One" refers to agreement, not becoming "one being/person."

    • @pahukolofoou
      @pahukolofoou 5 місяців тому

      @@Shawn-q3x Yep 👍. I agree. Thank you for clarifying your point on the redeeming power of the our Savior.
