hey kibz! if you need them, definitely don't sleep on the implosion cannons or the plasma turrets. the implosion cannons are REALLY good at defending bases because the splash damage is almost comical, and the plasma turrets are RIDICULOUSLY good against the space fleet. I set up two small rings of plasma turrets on the north and south poles of the planet my dark fog farm is on, and though the dark fog sends about 95 ships per invasion, the plasma turrets destroy them practically instantly!
I believe targeting is based on if your current weapon can hit the target, so using a longer-range weapon (plasma), will let you designate targets from further out.

So Kibs the thing your failing to notice is next to the All Fleets is an downward arrow and a circle. That allows you to order your fleet to move out ahead of you. That way you can tell the fleets to attack while keeping you out of firing range. As even with some pretty major upgrades into shields and the like, I still can't get up close to the Fog fleet.
Man get that proliferation going Asap. You basically have it set up. You save sooo many resources. Up to 20% as much resources (for rockets at least) to make the same amount of end point product. Then you actually end up using less power too because the front end of your production chain shrinks about 80% on each step back from the end product. So you benefit most on products with many different steps because 80% of 80% of 80% up to 10-15 times adds up to a lot of front end shrinkage. Anyways you know. Proliferate generously. It'd be cool to see you show the before and after in a video too because for most of us its hard to grasp just how powerful proliferation is.
mmmm I wish this game had native multiplayer for co-op. I want to play this game myself but I prefer co-op factories rather than a singleplayer experience lol. Loving this series btw.
It is the Death Star Op shield. So many darn guns and missiles. Fleet protecting it. Giant laser nope. But it has no weakness in its defense so yeah it’s better then the Death Star :)

He mentioned earlier that he has a deuterium gas giant, not fire ice. Which is still useful, but he'll need to go interstellar for fire ice. But he should be doing that for sulphuric acid anyway.

you can simplify your graphene production but using fire ice from the gas giant or some ice planets in your system(cant remember if there are), wont need sulphur this way just some titanium to make the carbon nanotubes
The amount of resources needed to defeat the fleets and hives is likely going to grow, can you salvage anything from the remains of the destroyed ships?
Kinda just makes me sad as to how little ships you can deploy at a time while the hive has many. I would love to see just a huge space battle instead of a battle of attrition, hopefully the devs might change that

Kibz when in battle mode hold control and a grid appears at the bottom of the screen and you can send your ships at least 1AU ahead into battle

The most I've seen is two dark fog hives at a black hole system. They get quite big with a lot of ships though.
Be sure to look at the secondary recipes, You have a gas giant that can give you loads of Fire Ice for graphene and hydrogen

The combat leaves a lot to be desired. Just seems cluttered and confusing instead of strategy based.

The planet based combat seems fine, but space combat appears to be about throwing numbers against them
By the way you can use the fire ice from gas giant collectors to get fire ice and fire ice can be used to make graphene and hydrogen
