    I noticed you use DT 770 pro headphones they are great (an industry standard). Your video is so helpful thank you for this. Space is a premium!

    Thanks! When you say it has a frame, do you mean that there is a square section of sold wood at the back of the desk surface where the monitor arm is clamped on your MALM? Yours looks like the rear 5cm depth is different to the rest. On my (older, no cable tray) MALM, the entire desk surface is just veneered cardboard honeycomb.

      @Will Stephenson I believe the top structure is like grid. Outer frame(maybe about 3cm) is solid, there is also solid frame inside to accommodate chest-drawer.

    Just got myself a monitor arm and I encountered this exact scenario. Still am trying to tighten the clamp as the knob is too big within the cable management tray, but I'll figure out something soon.

      You know, I encountered the same problem, but when I tried to spin the knob inside the cable management tray, it was too big to tighten. Instead, I grabbed a knife and a hammer and chiseled the plastic knob into a circular shape so that I could turn it inside the cable management tray.

      were you able to figure it out? I have the same problem and the plastic knob thing is really stuck on to the screw.

      @@gradientblob1014was it still easy to tighten with the circular shape? I have the same issue and I was thinking of doing a similar thing, or cutting a small rectangle into the area of the cable tray that the clamp was hitting into

    • @gradientblob1014
      @gradientblob1014 Рік тому

      @@shroomjak200 It was more difficult to turn than usual, but It still tightened very well. It holds up my 18 pound monitor perfectly. I also decided on cutting some sort of hole to all the screw to tighten, but I didn't really want to ruin or permanently damage the look of my own desk.

    Got a question, how'd you tighten the knob without blockage from the cable tray board? Mine is doing that right now, I can turn it for a bit before it gets blocked by the back board of the cable tray

    This just saved my life (and my desk, other solution would have involved a drill and a hole in my desk )

    Hi, I’m looking for a dual monitor mount but I’ve heard it breaks IKEA malm desk as they’re thin/soft. Any help?

      @@TaoMStudio How long have you had that Malm? Looks like they've updated the design since I bought mine because it doesn't have that framing. Maybe IKEA listened to criticism and added some reinforcement to fix the cracking problem.

    • @tracermunk
      @tracermunk 2 роки тому +1

      Others have used something like a thin metal plate under where the arm grips the desk. This, as far as I understand, distributes the pressure more evenly and prevents the cracking that previous Malms have experienced.
