- Just an update of our front yard edible landscape, Plants included:
Elderberry, Goumi Berry, Apricot, Pomegranite, Pineapple Guava, Mint, Oregano, Wild Blackberry. Thats 8 food items growing as an edible landscape.
I love how you guys have food growing, while still maintaining the peace with neighbors 😊
We did the same thing when we bought our house 3 years ago we had a 100% blank slate for our front yard, we have since planted thornless blackberries, blueberries, haskap berries and sunchokes along with flowers and mints for tea. It really is awesome!
Awesome! thanks for stopping by Jackie, appreciate the support
Thank you. 🙏🇬🇧
Love that you are able to interplant so many edibles into your landscape. Looks really natural.
appreciate it Danny and Wanda, believe it, our goal is to have land like y'all , cant wait to have a permaculture paradise on some acreage
I grew rainbow chard in my front garden with some mums and the neighbours liked it. Good to see you. God bless 😊
excellent mix, hide the edibles in the non edibles ! good to see ya T
I like the BlackBerry theory. Told my husband I would like to surround our five acres with hawthorn trees
hawthornes are good, try jujube too they are also thorny and have decent fruit
Ten years ago we ripped out the ugly shrubs that were planted in front of our house, and put in a raised bed and and planted four blueberry bushes in their place. This was before I had kids. Now every early to mid June, my youngest son gets excited about helping harvest the blueberries in front of the house. He's very interested in gardening.
I love the mint too! I'm going to try to get some growing here this year. I'm in West Texas.
Really good idea
Great ideas you have there. I currently grow two varieties of black raspberries and several types of herbs in my front yard.
its so nice to have food where there was no food before! thanks for the support as always
Very similar to my neighborhood...but I have an HOA . We even have vinyl siding in common. 🏡 I love your security system 😎
HOA's are generally a bit more restrictive for sure, prolly wouldn't have chickens if there was one here. thanks for checkin it out as always, we appreciate the support
@@PermacultureHomestead we are allowed chickens...but not clothes lines🤔 I love your channel....cuz we're "twins" in different zones.!!..mine is 7
New sub! I love your food forest!
Edible and beautiful landscape.
appreciate you watching, thanks for the support Daniel
Love it! We have a garden in our backyard and are slowly starting to ease our way around into the front yard with the edibles. We figure if we do it gradually and get people used to it they will be less likely to notice and say anything, lol!! Thanks!! -Lea
When you showed the shot of the goumi berry I thought it looked just like our Elaeagnus bushes. I googled goumi berry and found that the elaeagnus are in the same family. We have an entire hedgerow of Elaeagnus. I wonder if the fruit on our bushes can be eaten? I'll have to look into it!! Thanks again!! -Lea
yes elaeagnus are edible, process out the seeds and make fruit leather in a dehydrator, add honey or cane sugar w/ your pulp
Well done Tory. Best wishes Bob.
Nice idea of growing edible plants on the front yard. Nice share!
Appreciate it and hope you stick around subscribe and see some more vids. Just holler if you need anything
Beautiful view
I’m done 8 as well, here in Alabama. Thanks for this video as I am looking to redo my front flower beds. The issue I see is it getting afternoon sun.
raspberries do well w/ afternoon shade especially in the heat of the south. hope it goes well this year
Watch the elderberry-they tend to send lots of shoots underground and spread very easy to the point you may start to see them in the yard- mowing usually controls those but it could choke out your other plants if not careful- cutting shoots just below dirt usually does it!
the do spread for sure and yes, i do mow them, been working w/ eberry for years now i love it, we are like tight friends.
Amazing😍
So awesome!!!!
I look forward to seeing more about your pineapple guava, and I love what youve done with your front garden mixing in the edibles.
omg thats the tiinyest veggie garden iv seen in my life!!
I dono if the people there would be happy with our frount yard the whole things all messy with veggietables dirt everywhere and weeds but im in australia where messy gardens are normal and Iv never heard of issues with people complaining about yards unlike in america?
I was hesitant to plant elderberry in my front yard because it looks a little wild and I tend to let things do what they want but I did and it will soon look like a jungle.
they are a bit wild but easy to maintain for sure, you can really shape them to fit your style, hedge, tree or small shrub. thanks for checking it out tonight
My neighbors across the street have a very busy front yard but nothing is edible. However, they do have a splendid back yard that grows tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers! I guess I can do this too and not feel bad about how the front looks...perhaps a few paving stones will work for me...
Cool stealth garden ! !
guerrilla gardening for the win!
Nice. I going to take out two 6 ft ligustrum trees and I think from watching your video that pomegranate trees would be a good replacement.
On the side of the house I replaced shrubs with blueberries last year.
Really enjoy all your permaculture videos.
appreciate the support, blueberries are great for shade and pomegranite are good too, they love sun and abuse
Let us grow food. Everybody can be a gardener. Stay safe!
Very nice. The front yard can be tough to balance cosmetics with food forest. I am trying to create a privacy edible property border myself. Everything in my front yard is edible, but it still has to look nice for the neighbors :) I'm in your same zone 8, but on the west coast so I have paid close attention to your videos. Thanks!
appreciate the support, thanks for stopping by
suttle! Imagine if everyone's front yard was looking like your back yard !
i would prefer the jungle look ;) thanks for the support
Nice
Very cool thanks
no, YOU are Cool Thank You !
Way to work with the suburban landscape. Looks good!
guerilla gardening ! Has PETA yelled at you yet for your squirrel killing vids ? lol
I am going to use flower pots, on my balcony I don't have a back yard, only a small front yard that is already full of plants and hedges
balcony gardens are always so fun, its easy to keep herbs going all round that way
I am going to try this, I love your ideas, thanks for sharing
That pomegranate will get huge there. The trick to good pomegranates is don’t fertlize them, they do better without
You would never know it is a food farm lol.😊
I want to get into edible landscape so badly!!
Subscribe and stick around, got more edible garden tips coming
I am trying to find more details about letting brambles trellis on boxwood but I can’t find anyone else that’s done it but you! Any more details about how to do that? I’m in 7b
its as easy as letting the brambles grow up the plants, they use the box woods as a trellis system, very little maintenance.
Cool
Awesome
hidden preps, food, water, shelter, security. Thanks for stoppin by Nick.
Permaculture Homestead (akward) your welcome, Gardening wise we are on the same wave length (If you just gently press my Y.T. Icon you will see), best luck dude 🤠
Boy, you got salad in your cookie.
i feel like this is a sexual remark, if so, than Yes, but the other way around. lol love ya' brotato chip
Is this Travis from Mokos yard?
no its Tory from Permaculture Homestead ;)
Are you not concerned that the roots will stop up your septic tank?
The roots of both of those plants won't go deep enough to hit the septic tank.
