In this video, we share our experience with the Teltonika RUT955 LTE router and how it helps us stay connected when we're on the road.
We’ve shared budget-friendly Mobile Internet in our earlier videos, which did us pretty well - but to be able to work on the road we wanted to be sure we could always get as good internet speed as possible, this is probably overkill for most people but we wanted to share the set up we use and it can still be done for under £200.

good explanation. I just bought and installed the 950 without GPS. Still have to see what this will do abroad, but now it works perfectly. Small tip first insert the SIM then voltage on it otherwise no connection.

Absolutely loved this and the other vids about wifi/mifi/connectivity etc. I'm on the verge of going full time van life as my company is now embracing working from home (smiley face). The Teltonika 955 really looks like the way to go as I'd be actually expected to work and connectivity for Zoom etc would be an issue for me. Apologies if I've not googled but what is the impact of 5G to all this?

Hi John, glad you are find the videos useful, the RUT955 is a good choice and is our go to solution.
We’ve not tried any 5G LTE modems as yet as the cost is not really in the realms of most people.
5G coverage tends to be limited to heavily built up areas which tends to not be the kind of area we stay. It’s also highly likely that wherever there is a 5G signal there is likely to be a pretty good 4G signal so whilst the total bandwidth available on 5G would be significantly more than 4G the 4G is likely to be very capable.
As we tend to get at least 5 Mbps on 4G, 5G would probably be overkill.
So in summary 5G expensive hardware currently, limited coverage and for us where it is available more bandwidth than we would need.
But one we’ll be keeping track of and no doubt will test some hardware as becomes more affordable.

Great video thanks, quick question, do you think using the ZTE mifi with the telocona antenna would be a good option? The reason I ask is I only need 4 connections in the van and am thinking the better antenna the better reception?
Hi Steve, the Teltonika Combo antenna is probably overkill for the ZTE as you wouldn't need the WiFi or the GPS Antennas.
In my tests of antennas you can see here ua-cam.com/video/s4nNAjV0oRM/v-deo.html the Bingfu Antennas performed surprisingly well for the price. I've not yet had chance to try the Combo on the ZTE but looking at the specs I doubt the Teltonika would make much difference to the LTE signal, I'll aim to give it a try over the weekend and update this thread.
I'm also hoping to be able to test out some of Poynting's newer transportation-specific Antennas (such as the Puck or MIMO) soon, which could well be good choices to partner with the ZTE, I'll share a video on these as soon as I can.

I just did a few tests, in our current location, the average speed download with the Bingfu Antennas on the ZTE MF910 was 16.5 Mbps and upload 6.3 Mbps.
Using the Teltonica Combo antenna, with just the LTE connections on the ZTE it was 20.4 Mbps download and 4.8 Mbps upload.
As there are various other things that could influence the speed (like the load on the tower and interference) I wouldn't read a massive amount in to the differences and would say they perform in a similar ball park. So as you wouldn't be using the GPS or WiFi antennas in the Combo probably not worth spending the extra on it in my opinion.

Great video, I’ve got the RUT950. Just got a question about the WiFi antenna (not the LTE antenna). Looks like in you setup both antenna go to the roof. Would it be better to have one outside and one inside the van? Or do you not need one inside the van as the router itself is close enough? I’ve gone for one wifi inside, the other outside in the hope it’ll give me best wifi access both in and out of the van (which works, I can connect to van wifi up to 150m away), but I’m now wondering if I’ve got it right.
It’s a really good question and I honestly don’t know the answer. However I did try both option and saw no difference in the strength or the quality of WiFi in the van. So made the judgement as it’s likely the hotspot to connect to would be further away than the devices in the van and that the Combo antenna had twin built in WiFi antennas I just connected them both outside.
I am chatting to Teltonika about a couple of things so I’ll try and pick their brains and see what they think. Will let you know.
@@ExploreVanUK - Thanks for the reply. That makes sense, may well be there’s an internal wifi antenna in the unit for inside the van. Probably not worth the hassle of installing new antenna on the roof now, but if I ever do I probably run them both outside.

Hi, the Peplink Max HD2 spec seems to be be pretty much the same as the Teltonika RUTX12 which you can see in my video here. ua-cam.com/video/t655M9CcYfU/v-deo.html as it has 2 cat6 modems rather than the 1 cat4 modem that switches SIMs in the RUT955.
I’ve no experience of Peplink, however looking at the Retail price of the HD2 of £2,899 I would definitely go with the RUTX12 at around £430 for what seems to be similar spec.

Yes, in the same way I talk about the fail-over or load-balance from Wifi Connection to 4G LTE connection it can be configured to fail-over/load-balance from the Cable/Ethernet connection to the 4G LTE connection.
The only reason I didn't mention it is that, being in a van, we don't have a cable connection :-)

As both the X11 and X12 use cat6 modems they will perform better where carrier aggregation is available as the RUT955 only has Cat4.
As the x12 actually has 2 modems if you are happy to have 2 active sims it can make a huge difference.

I use both external and internal IP cameras on ours connected via WiFi and once the router is set up it’s just like setting the cameras up as if you were at home.

I’m curious to know how you are powering the device. I don’t really want to plug in to 240v socket as nothing near where installation would be for the device. I’d like to tap into the 12v supply but see that the plug going into the device itself has 4 wires. Any tips on how to connect via 12v supply?
Hi, thanks glad they are useful.
You can power it direct from 12 volts. If you are using the lead like this one. amzn.to/3Sv17te you only need to connect the red and black wires from the cable to the positive and negative. Ignore the Green and White they are for connecting sensors / switches.
Or you could cut the plug off the supplied power unit and use that, just check which is positive and negative before cutting it off with a multimeter.

Hi, there are a couple of different ways to do this, the easiest is using a text message.
In Menu - Mobile Utilities - SMS Utilities Make sure the GPS Coordinates action is switched on.
If you then send the message " GPS" (without the " ) to the 955 it will reply with it's location and a Google maps link.
If you have a Geofence set up in Menu -GPS - GPS Geofence you can also set a notification SMS from the Events Reporting Menu to send you a SMS when the Geofence is entered or left.
Finally for live tracking you can use the Teltonika RMS service - You have to buy credits to do this, but it only works out around £18 a year. This also allows you to access the router settings and report remotely.

Great vid, I went and got one and using my MIFI as a backup. I'm also using smarty but it hasn't connected automatically. I haven't researched massively yet but did you have to change the APN or anything?
Hi glad you liked it. Mine worked out of the box (I think it defaulted the APN for 3) but if you need to update the APN it’s pretty easy the settings for Smarty are:
Name: 3
APN: mob.asm.net
User name: [leave this field blank]
Password: [leave this field blank]

@@ExploreVanUK It just needed a reboot, typical. Did you end up hardwiring? Looking at a 12v -9V stepper but might also add a switch.
Great stuff. Yep I hardwired, it can take anything from 9v to 30v so no need for a power supply. I didn’t bother with a switch I just unplug the power lead if I want to shut it down.
Deffo worth getting version with CA. However, it's extremely important to have a decent antenna. I'd stand out on a limb and say the gain on their antenna isn't brilliant. Getting the best antenna will improve the speed by virtue of the impact it has on the rsrq, the reported cqi value and consequently speed. If you review antenna too, see if the router software details these 2 numbers. The next teltonika needs to have a 4x4 mimo option, especially for 5G. That being said, it's not going to be benefit much if parked up in rural areas
Hi we've tested both the Poynting Puck and the Poynting Mimo3 in one of our other videos. Which as you say do make a significant difference.
We've also tested a number of solutions with Carrier Aggregation (Cat6, Cat 12 and Cat 18) and where this is available at the location / Tower it makes a huge difference, but sadly most routers only have external antennas for 2x2 Mimo rather than 4X4 so struggle to maximise the benefit of CA. In our most recent video you can see the difference modification to have 4x4 MiMo external antenna makes.
As we spend more time in rural than urban environments its not that often that CA is a huge benefit as were often limited to one band. We also don;t have a huge requirment for bandwidth so consistensy and stability of connection is more important than speed of connection..
Hey, I wonder how to utilise a gps function? Can I check location of the vehicle remotely, without expensive subscription? How to do it? (Im waiting for my 955 to be delivered becouse of you ;), i will use included antennas and was also wondering is there a big deference with connecting to free WiFi’s using included antennas for roof or for example mimo’s one? Such a test would be great to evaluate purchasing expensive external antenna. ;)
Hi, Setting up the GPS is pretty easy, once the GPS antenna is connected, you just have to enable the service in the settings.
Getting the location can be done either via the Remote Management Services which cost about £10 every 6 months (free for the first month).
Or via SMS for free (send router password followed by "GPS" and the unit sends back it's location.
I have found having the WiFi antenna on the roof does make it easier to connect to WiFi Hotspots than with the WiFi antennas inside. However I only use this as a last resort as I have unlimited usage on our LTE service so its easier just to stick to that.

I have an RUT240 and have been looking around at different 4G/LTE antennas for them. Have you tried any other antennas? What makes one antenna better than the rest?

I actually asked the question recently, but haven't had a response yet, but I am talking to them so will try and dig a bit deeper. I'm hoping to try out the RUTX12 soon - which has CAT6 LTE so should be a speed improvement on 4G but sadly no 5G yet.
I know they did a press release that they were trying out some prototype 5G models so hopefully they are on the way!
Any ideas if they've got a 5G version yet?
Does the antenna come with an extension for the threaded part that fits through the motorhome roof ? looking at the pics on Amazon the thread wont fit through my motorhome

No it doesn't, but I would say the threads are plenty deep enough to sandwich any thickness of the metal part of the roof unless you have an armoured van/tank :-D
I cut out a circular section of the wooden roof and insulation to be able to get the nut/washers flush to the metal. Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I'll take a picture.
Alternatively, check out Poynting's Puck 5 or MIMO-3-15 which can be surface mounted.

im on a caravan site and wifi is very low only place to get it is if you stand outside site reception to use wifi

Unfortunately, doing every iteration of testing in the video can make for a long and boring watch so I have to be a bit selective.
I have tested both the RUT955 and MF910 on the same antenna and the RUT955 does seem to be more sensitive and therefore hold the signal better and give marginally better performance, but it's not in a different ball park. When on the fringes of reception it can mean the difference between a usable connection and no connection at all though.
The game changer of the RUT955 is the flexibility and additional features it brings like fail over / traffic management / integrate with the van / GPS tracking / remote management that the MF910 is streets away from (and just not intended to provide) to be fair it is a bit like comparing a Ford Fiesta with a Range Rover.
We only really saw a step change in modem performance with the Cat6 modems in the RUTX12 which you can see here. ua-cam.com/video/t655M9CcYfU/v-deo.html

Personally I prefer the Poynting as it has better mounting options (some avoiding the need for a hole in your van roof) better gain and better quality cable, meaning less cable loss. But I know it is quite a bit ore expensive.

As clear I have three Lan ports and if I use three different datas (D1, D2, & D3) and want three those datas through this device (router rut955) later to other different devices can I distinguished from each other, or in another word how can I will send each D1,2, ... for indicated destination? I appreciate your help.
Hi, not sure I fully understand but I don’t think you can set the routing of an individual LAN port, but if you assign static IPs to the devices you are connecting you could potential dictate the routing of the data via IP address. Eg Device 1 routed to mobile connection, device 2 routed to wired connection, device 3 routed to wireless connection.

So essentially, could I ditch my tracker and use this? I try and keep my van life bills to a minimum, I use phones hotspot, because I pay monthly for the tracker which isn’t ideal, but if this can do both.....? I found it difficult to find such a device. Thank you for sharing this. ✌️
Yep absolutely. Does everything my tracker does and having the external GPS antenna it could be harder to jam.
However if your tracker is required by your insurance company it may have to be thatcham approved (which this wouldn’t be). So just double check.

If I understand your question correctly, you have a couple of options here.
1) use the digital input (pin 1 and 6 on I/O socket), then set an input rule to trigger your action on closed / open.
2) use the alarm relay to switch a voltage from 0v to between 8v and 40v and feed that to power socket input (pin 3 on power connector) this would trigger the "high logic level" when the voltage was on. You could then input your rule to trigger your action on "high logic level".

@@ExploreVanUK Thanks mate, I got alarm Like door Open; Fan fail, etc what I'm looking when any of these alarms trigger so I can see alarm here but in that we have only pin1 and pin6 which will take one alarm (in my case I have one pair coming from each alarm so if i have 5 pair alarm how i can connect 5 alarm). Please advise on that.
If it were me I would wire all the alarms to one relay connected to the RUT which would trigger the alert.
Or put all the “sensors” in series on a normally closed circuit that way when anyone triggers it would break the circuit.
You wouldn’t be able to tell which “sensor” had triggered it but you would know something was wrong and could investigate.
What speeds are roughly expected my sister just had one fitted in her camper and her mobile giving 15mbp but router 2mbp ?
It is a Cat 4 modem - so theoretical speeds are up to 150 MBPS however depending on the network, geography, number of users on the tower the performance of the antennas you have connected etc you are unlikely to get near this.
You don't say what phone you are comparing it to, if they are on the same network and if the phone is inside the vehicle, but in a good area I would expect most modern Smart phones (that are often Cat 10+) and would usually cost much more to perform better than this modem.
The benefit of the modem comes in areas of weak signal being able to use external antennas and being able to configure the routing to prioritise certain devices. You can't do this with a mobile phone. This will get a usable signal in areas where a phone will get nothing.
Hi,i have the Rutt 955 and poynting antenna on my narrowboat, with a smarty sim. The router came with 2 wifi ariels, but works without them. Should i be using them? What are they for? Thanks for you help, i suspect this is such a daft question that i havent been able to find an answer! Cheers

The WiFi antennas are used to create the WiFi network that you connect your device to and to connect to other WiFi hotspots if you use the WiFi repeater function.
Whilst it may work without, the quality and strength of the network will be significantly better with the Antennas connected. Using External Magnetic mount antennas also gives you an improved performance if you are using the WiFi repeater function to boost connections to other WiFi hotspots or connecting to WiFi when outside of your van.
If you are not using the Magnetic external antennas then you should connect on unit antennas such as these to avoid damaging the Transmitters. amzn.to/3I8pMOf

Does this unit do active gps tracking? As in track tracing to a remote (free / open source) service?
Hi it may be able to be configured to. Out of the box it was meant to be used with Teltonika's TAVL service but I think that is end of life.
You can configure remote hosts to send the GPS data to - For example Navixy - show it as a compatible device so if it can be configured for them it can probably be configured for a free service.

Or you can access the location via the Teltonika RMS system (I pay £16 a year for this) which also allows you to do remote setting and configuration of the router.

Dude I like your videos, wonder if you can help me. I have just installed a RUT360 modem to my van and a poynting antenna on the roof. I have connect the RUT to the mobile part of the Poynting antenna, but I have not yet connected the Wi-Fi antenna to the Poynting antenna as I was thinking I needed the RUT to give me a Wi-Fi signal in the van or connection, if I connected them to the poynting this would make my Wi-Fi signal in the van weaker…? This is where I am confused, since the RUT 360 can connect to external Wi-Fi hotspots and I see the value of the external antenna connection with the Poynting external antenna..? So I am a bit confused and thought I would ask, should I connect it to my external Wi-Fi antennas or leave as is with the standard antennas to broadcast signal in the van..? Hope that makes sense!! Hi - thanks for your comment and glad you like the videos.
It's a great question and we did do some experimenting with this.
You're right the advantage of having the WiFi antennas external to the van is if you use the RUT360 to connect to a WiFi hotspot to relay the connection into your network. By having higher gain antenna and the antenna external to the van you are likely to be able to get a better connection to an external hotspot than if you used the antennas internally.
You are also right to consider that having the WiFi antennas external to the van will have an impact on the WiFi connection in the van.
However in our experimentation this is very marginal ad pretty much no impact on the perfomance of the connection, due to the antenna being so close to the device (albeit on the outside of the van) and that the WiFi signals are of a frequency that have pretty good penetrating power. (especially the 2.4 Ghz network)
There is also an advantage if you ever want to connect to your network from outside the van giving you a wider range.
So in short - if you have any intention to connect to external hotspots my recommendation would be to utilise the external WiFi antennas.

Hello! wow man, great content. I just came across this video but have scoped out a few of your others since and I love how simple they are put together while the key issues are communicated so clearly. Great bang for your buck! I have a question maybe you could help me out with: I live in El Hierro, Canary Islands in an area where there is no cable. My question is: How much better can I expect using this router/X12 give me (speed & reliability) VS than simply hotspotting from my phone or MiFi? A speed test from my phone gives me the following: DOWN 88.4 & UP 39.6 (these are great speeds IMO) *Would this router improve these speeds further? Or do these speeds suggest I am in an area with good coverage so I'm actually in the range of the upper limit, and a simple MiFi device would be sufficient?* Also similar questions for an antenna... Where I'm unclear are whether these routers + antennas increase speeds (can you squeeze more out of it) or do they more so help you "stretch to" or reach areas with signals which improves your connectivity, but never beyond a certain point. Sorry for being long-winded but I'm trying to understand how they work and not wanting to sink 3/4 hundred euros unnecessarily!

In my experience I would agree with you that the speed you are getting on your phone is very good and I wouldn’t expect you to get much more out of a more expensive option.
External antennas and dedicated routers tend to come into their own when you are in an area with weaker signal, where a phone may struggle. The antenna would then help to pull in a better signal and therefore improve performance. I suspect you are getting quite a good signal where you are.
If you were looking to connect lots of devices, or manage the way the bandwidth is routed to the devices then it may be worth considering one but if you are ok with your phone then personally I wouldn’t bother.
If you just want a separate dedicated connection then a lower end MiFi unit or 4g router would probably perform just as well as your phone.

I do work from home with Zoom and possibly live-streaming in the future in which case it may be worth a router that can handle multiple devices etc, as well as carry a connection from the house the studio, which is only 10 meters or so. @@ExploreVanUK Hello Sir! Well, since we last messaged I have just acquired at RUT950. I'm just setting it up but hitting some walls re speeds which are confusing me. Using the sim card in my mobile I got 98.7 Down and 13.5 Up. I put the same sim into the RUT950 and get 11.35 Down and 7.03 Up. I'm mega confused. It shows between 4/5 green bars. have experimented with 4g LTE connection only. 4g + 3g, and Auto and it more or less stays the same. Surely the router can achieve at least the same as the phone? Any thoughts through your own tinkering would be welcome! thanks
Hi, what phone are you using? If it is a pretty recent one it probably has a much more up to date modem which enables it to utilise carrier aggregation to increase the data speed.

I set trigger ranges to send messages when it was”charging” “high” “med” “low” “very low” and “critical” etc using the “In range” trigger, you can see some of the settings at 8:05

It could be -But it can only utilise a signal if it can access one, whist it is more sensitive than a Mobile phone for example, there are still areas of the country where there is no signal available at all. The only real alternative in those areas is Starlink, but this could be a challege in a forest environment.
If you do chose to go the route of LTE internet, this is now quite an old router and I would recommend going for one of Teltonika's newer RUTX series - that have more modem modems, you can see reviews of these on the channel so take a look and a good quality antenna is likely to make the most benefit - check out our review of the Poynting Mimo4.

The power that you want to measure needs to be connected to the analog input which are pin 6 (-ve) and pin 9 (+ve)
You then configure the analog input to show voltage in the inputs / output screen.

It will act as a WiFi booster. But it would depend if it was just the WiFi of the sites internet that was poor or if it is just that too many people are trying to use it, which it won’t help with.

Hi, yes it probably is too short for well insulated Caravan roof, as ours is a van we mounted to the metal roof and then insulated over it.

If I remember correctly the cabling on the Puck is higher quality so less signal loss and you’ve got the more flexible mounting options over the combo but that is quite a price difference.

Hi Stuart WiFi antennas are both transmitters and receivers. Eg if you’re watching a UA-cam video they are transmitting the video to your device. If you are uploading a video they are receiving the video from your device.
You can configure the 950 in the wireless menu to act as both an Access Point (AP) (provide a connection for a device) and a Station (ST) (connect to another Access Point eg a WiFi hotspot).
Unfortunately your Puck 2 only has Cellular antennas so I assume you are using other antennas for your WiFi.
The Puck 5 has both cellular and WiFi antennas.

I was told that when it was a in client mode (acting as a Station) then it would need to be connected via LAN cable to a spearate AP device, as it could not do both at the same time. Hi! I can’t speak definitively for the 950 as we have the 955 but I do believe other than the GPS they are the same.
We have successfully had the 955 connected to a WiFi hotspot in station mode whilst also acting as a WiFi Access point without any issues.
I’ll add it to the list to do a video on it but in the meantime, if you drop me your email via the contact form on our website I’ll drop you some pictures of how we have it configured.

Ultimately it could be, but going to be interesting to see where the price goes. I imagine it could also be a problem if you were in a forest / built-up area where you didn't have a clear view of the sky. Definitely one to watch!
While the Teltonika sure looks like an impressive quality product and goes well beyond an LTE router, it's worth mentioning that being a CAT4 it cannot aggregate multiple bands, so _potentially_ you're getting speeds 2-3 or more times less than what you could be getting. Alternatives could be Netgear Nighthawk, Huawei B818 etc.

I see the Nighthawk and the B818 as more consumer-level devices - whilst great for some, I don't think they can be compared to the RUT955 or RUTX12 as they just don't have the same level of configurability and functionality which stands the Teltonika devices apart.
@@ExploreVanUK You'd be surprised, it's worth testing. When I migrated from a CAT7 device to a CAT19 (B818) I doubled my speeds. That said, once you get over certain speeds, say 20 Mbps, you can do pretty much whatever you want to do online and anything more is just a bonus.
If Netgear or Huawei would like to lend me a couple of units I'll happily test them :-D
I suspect I would be missing twin Sim Network Failover, Load balancing across connection types, ability to set up multiple access points with differing QoS, manage individual users access through Hotspot authentication, GPS tracking, Remote config, device integration options and (with the X12) being able to load balance across 2 simultaneous LTE connections before very long.
@@ExploreVanUK That's indeed an impressive amount of features. Re getting routers, I hope Huawei take notice, or you could just order some off Amazon and return if unhappy with the results (yes, not exactly orthodox). Also might be worth trying other operators, 3 is famously oversubscribed in many parts of the country. EE is arguably the best, but it does come with a price tag.
👍 I don’t want to strain my relationship with Amazon I use them too much and have heard of people getting black listed for returning too many things.
We’ve tried all the networks VodaFone (with Voxi), 3 (with Smarty), EE (with Virgin Media) and O2 (with Giffgaff).
Whilst their speed isn’t always the best we can’t fault the overall coverage from 3 (particularly in rural areas where we’ve had no signal at all with the others) and with Smarty’s £18 unlimited usage per month, with no contract or speed restrictions value for money is top notch.
With that and a Voxi Vodafone sim as our back up network in Sim slot 2 we’ve never had any problem.
Bought this router a few months ago. In my situation my phone connected with the router does not have data while driving. For example no music is playing connected with Spotify while I am driving connected to the router. Do you recognize this problem?
Sorry not had that problem at all. We stream music while travelling and the kids stream movies / TV.

I can see no reason why it wouldn’t work on the move with that. Ours has no problems with a similar antenna.
What do the diagnostics screens show when you have problems?

Yep I would give that a try and then monitor the LTE signal when you’re travelling to see if it is stable.

What do you think of the Teltonika RUT240?
I don’t have hands on experience but from a technical perspective and others experience I would rate it if you don’t need the failover / dual Sim and extra functionality of the 950/955.
It might be worth considering the newer RUT360 which isn’t too much more as that has a Cat6 modem rather than the Cat4 in the 240, which could mean double the data speed (network and signal allowing)
@@ExploreVanUK I just ordered the RUT240 as it’s just what we need. We only have one sim and need good internet on the road. We also just bought the poynting mimo 3 V2 15 to give us more signal boost than our puck 2.

@@ExploreVanUK so I got the RUT240 and it’s good part from the WiFi is awful. You have to be within 1M of the router for it to work, when I connect the WiFi connector from our new poynting mimo 3 V2 15 antenna it won’t even read it at all. We are going to return this unit because after abit of research it turns out that the RUT240 has a WiFi issue. We are looking into the RUTX11 what do you think of that?
Before return it just checking you used the SMA to SMA RP adapters.
If it’s like the RUT955 the SMA connector type of the router is different to the antenna connector. Check the centre pin is present.
If you didn’t use an adapter the WiFi antenna wouldn’t be connected at all although the connector could look like it was.
would the rut950 also be suitable?
The RUT950 just doesn't have the GPS functions of the 955. So if tracking isn't something you would use then it would be suitable.

Hi yep it comes with a 240v transformer for if you do want to plug it in to the mains.
Yep you can wire it direct to the 12v power. As it’s so flexible in the voltage you can use no need for a stabilised supply. 👍
The connector is a little hard to come by or expensive to buy one so the easy option is to cut the one off the supplied transformer.

I bought one of these 198 months ago. I have still to get it working. Setup and operating instructions are dreadful.
I did mention in the video that they are quite technical and it helps a lot if you have a bit of computer networking / WiFi setup experience / knowledge as they are professional equipment so it tends to be assumed most who buy them know what they are doing.
However the technical community support forum is very good, so if you pop on there the details of the problem you are having they are usually very quick to respond and help out.

I went for the RUT955 but I have really struggled to get decent downloads. What max have you got? I am struggling to get more than 1MPS. I also bought the teltonika ariel and SMARTY.
Hi it really depends on the area you are in and the band you are connected to.
The Teltonika RUT9XX routers and external antennas really come into their own when the signal is poor or non existent on other devices and in areas like that getting 1 or 2 Mbps is good.
We have had 10-20 Mbps in areas with good coverage but as the RUT955 is only a cat4 router so can’t aggregate multiple bands so in good signal area, you’ll get better performance from a more modern device like your phone or more up to date router like the Teltonika RUTX12 / RUTX14.

Hi John, thanks for the feedback - I confess I do try to get through things quickly as I have a personal dislike of long rambling videos that give little information about the topic of the video. (Though I do know some viewers may prefer this)
If you click the settings icon at the bottom of the player screen you can set the speed to 0.75 or even 0.5 which may make it easier to follow, if you are struggling with the speed I talk.
As I say in the video the RUT955 is a professional/industrial router rather than a consumer router and does require a bit of knowledge to be able to fully utilise it, there are lots of videos on UA-cam that cover basic wireless networking / routing that would give the level of detail needed and I never intended to provide this in the video.
As I am sure you can imagine it's very difficult to pitch the level of videos to suit everyone watching, but, as I say in the video if you have any questions or want any further detail on any part of the video I am very active on the channel and will happily respond and provide more detail where anyone requests it.

You are correct in this package only the Antenna is 5G ready - so you would not be able to use the 5G network without upgrading the included router.
The router included seems to be a rebranded Teltonika RUT950 - which is very similar to RUT955 reviewed here, but without the GPS tracking functionality.
The price of the package doesn't appear to be too different to buying the Router and Antenna separately but I can't comment on the performance of the antenna as I haven't tested one.
If you wanted a comparable set up Personally I would suggest an RUT955 which can be bought here for £194 amzn.to/3y2S3io
