- The method we use to heat treat 440C SS knife blades. I hope this helps others who are trying to heat treat their stainless knifes. This can also be done with any other type kiln that will reach degress in excess of 2000.I use Evenheat’s KH-418 but I originally tried this technique on a Jen Ken kiln I found cheap on Ebay. The main ingredient's are the HT foil along with proper time and temp.

hello friend greetings from Spain ... I have a doubt with steel 440 about its tempering. I've seen people let it cool from the yellow and then freeze it. people who temper it in oil. my idea is a lot of temperature = austenite + abrupt cooling = martensite ... this is so with the 440... I have to break it and how much temperature and time ...

ED PARKER 100%. I originally bought on without this smart screen on it and ended up selling it for some crazy reason. The second I sold it I immediately regretted getting rid of it. Now that I was able to save up for this one I’m never getting rid of it haha. Also, I don’t know of another way to HT stainless
