Hi, my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent comes from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work, but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I would only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people consider this the lowest time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly, what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving, and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I have been living full-time in my self convert van.
Thanks for hanging in there Emi and continuing to make videos for us! Blessings to you and Kelly.❤
Who’s Kelly?
Kelly is Miss Kitty!
These engine projects never go as planned 😢 Keep smiling, it will come together 😊 good work on the cabinets .
Im just more and more impressed with your projects! From last year to now, your van has really come together and it looks amazing inside! From the pictures you took and made as storage doors, to the cabinets and new hardware, the trash can project last year…and now the box for the heater!!! Fantastic job!!! Gives me much hope for my van! Keep being you!
Sometimes waiting is the hardest job. The heater vent is designed to have a hose attached to the heater. You figured it out! Good job on the box. It definitely looks much better & you gained another storage spot. WIN WIN!!
The van build looks so incredible !! 💕
YAY!! I just noticed you're over 80K subs! Congratulations Emi and Kelly!
You are so creative!! I love all the little touches you put in your van.❤
Hang in there, Emi. The van engine will be done. In the meantime, the home is looking amazing. You're getting things done and not wasting time. You're quite the inspiration. Hey Kelly, kisses to ya!😽
The engine is the heart- there is no rush to do it right . How gracious Loren is.
Thanks Emi, you are such a patient person. Thanks for sharing how you always seem to come up with good work arounds....
Great I am glad you got the Cat lady van stickers. I need to order!
Thanks for kiss Kelly!❤
You’re going to have a great Summer in your home. Take your time. Having a clean, safe place to stay & a very trustworthy mechanic (and man) is like winning the Lottery for Nomads. Take Care
The realities of van life home on wheels ! Thanks for sharing it all. No matter where we live & how ,there are challenges. You are an awesome example of how to BE positive while getting projects done. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
It won’t be long now before your van repairs are complete, and you’re back on the road having fun.
Hats off to @sokozi for the window coverings. We got ours from them for our Roadtrek 2003 and they are AMAZING!!! Best client service and absolutely the highest quality!
Hi Emi, good things come to good people 🥰 God Bless you and Kelly 🐈 looking forward to u being on the road again 👍🙏🫶🤗
You just need a bracket to connect them together. Go to a hardware store with the tube and the new part. You can figure out what works best for you their.
Your window cover is really cool!! So awesome
Have you thought about installing a lagun table mount at the foot of the bed between the fridge and your bed. The table would be out of the way when not using, but would give you a dining table and a desk.
HI Emi And Kelly I think you both are great Emi I love how you just Roll with the flow and not let any thing effect you
The box looked so good around the heater box than just bare. I always say if something doesn't work right the first time look outside of the box and figure out a new way. Sending positive thoughts for all of Loren. Ms. Kelly is so funny when you got the package and such a little cutie. Blessings!
I love how you can just make and build and fix things too! So resourceful! I know you'll be so glad for more time outdoors once your van is good to go. In the meantime so grateful you have the shop and shop van to use.
Great job making improvements on your van ...keep working on it so you can stay busy and be happy on your projects !!
Kellie was so cute in this video. She certainly knows what packages are.
Love that you’re working on some little projects on your van and using the precious shop space - you’re in your happy building place ❤🎉😊
Emi, I would love ❤ to have one of those big patches! That would be so awesome 😊
Also, sorry about the delay in getting your van fixed. I know how that feels. It doesn’t feel very good. But I am so thankful that you have a safe place to stay and work on your projects and the shop van to get out and do what you need to do.
One day, I would love to meet you!
~Charity from Northern Minnesota 🤍
The positive of your engine being down is your Interior is looking fantastic. Making lemonade out of a Lemony situation,
Well Emi you are using your waiting time very well. You have accomplished so much for your home and it looks great, you are so talented with everything you create! You go Girl! And I think Kelly is certainly enjoying her shop time, she loves to explore and play.
It’s great how like minded people got together and share vans, space, etc! Very good to see, love kitty Kelly
With the exposed edges at the front of the heater box, you could possibly paint those edges white, then they will disappear almost and keep the frontage of cabinets all white.
Love the upgrades Emily, looks really good.
Your van is looking great. The cupboards turned out very nice ! Great job
Maybe you can put a shelve on it then slide that piece into it
The part to direct the heat should be clamped onto the hose, which should be clamped to the heater. I've never seen the flow director directly attached to the heater.
I think it's going to work the way it is don't u??
Using a short length of the flexible pipe is the correct way to do it, so you got it right!
Sweet Emi, what a wonderful soul you are! Most people, including me, I'm afraid, might be angry or at the very least quite frustrated with the delays you are enduring. But not you, you have stayed your dear, engaging, easy going self. You go, girl!!
The heater vent is a lot more attractive now, and you got some extra storage for practical cat supplies. It looks really nice. I know that once you’re on your summer trip, you’ll enjoy all the improvements you’re making now. Hoping the weather clears up so you might have time for a quick camping trip before Loren returns. Kisses for Miss Kelly. ❤️
I really look forward t seeing you and kitty no matter what or where. Thank you for being you,Emmi.❤
Cool project and nice job. I know you are more than ready to be back on the road this summer. Here's hoping the wildfires don't impact your travels too much. Peace and Love.
UA-cam just want in ad mode and has forgotten the creator in this case Emmy
I have some projects I want to do inside my van, wish I had your talent. Looking good.
That box with the new exhaust for the wabasto heater looks awesome. You are so clever and have great skills.
Emi I’ve said it before your building skills are absolutely amazing. Great video as always.
Chrome had to wait a long time for his engine parts.. it's frustrating but everything will get done!
:)
You are using your time wisely. Your van is looking.
You are so blessed to have such good friends as Chrome and Loren, this is taking so much longer and more in depth than originally thought, it could have been a real nightmare. But you are a trooper and making the best of it. Nice going 👍
Hoping all gets done in a timely manner
Susie in Michigan ❤😊
It be good to get your projects done now so that you can enjoy yourself when you go camping ❤
"Go with the flow"
Your little box looks so nice and uniform with the rest of the cabinet work. Good job.
I enjoy your channel your content is always awesome ☺️✌️🐈
the 3 are keeping it REAL
Emmi you read my mind lol great. Minds think alike
Emi you have got the right think for the heater. You need to use the tube you have cut it shorter. Then put the vent on after. People use ally add a bit of wood as a facing.
Hello Emi and Kelly ... I can see that you are using your down time to get alot of things done. I enjoyed hanging out with you today and just seeing what a normal (for now) day looks like. Love to you and Kelly ... Gramma Lainee
Yay! Another kitty kiss!😊
Your van is looking awesome!!! Great job on all your recent builds. I really admire you. Love to you and Miss Kitty.
Looks really good Emily , it goes well with your cupboard you did before posh 👍❤I always love watching you and miss Kelly your cat 🐈
Nice, job good for you....
Hello Emily, misskitty (kelly)❤❤❤
From Beautiful British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
15:06 at least someone's motor is working! 🥰
Still enjoy this channel. Not like the other one that’s all about the new shop business now 🙄
We can't wait to travel along with and Miss Kitty this Summer❤️❤️✌️
Hi Emi, I'm sorry you have to wait for your engine parts for so long! I enjoy your videos explaining how to build cabinets in your van, your van is going to look so good 😊
If nobody has mentioned it... with the deisel heater vent. Y ou need to join the outlet to the directional vent with the piece of aluminium pipe you have. They all work the same way. You will probably need a couple of large screw bands... to tighten them on each end.
EDIT: I should have kept watching. Hahaha. Looks great.
Kitty wants to go for a walk. Maybe you can take her out someplace not too far away in the shop van for an hour or two.❤😊😺
You might need some hose clamps to keep it all connected with the heater.
Now that you made a box for the heater you could possibly build some little shelves on the side for more storage, of course above so the lid on the box can still open . Everythings looking great Emi you have done an amazing job .. hello from Ladner bc 😊
You are right! The heat duct pipe you were given is the right size to connect the heater vent cap to the webasto. There is no cap that I know of that connects to the webasto directly. Nice job figuring it out.
Emi!! Good day 🌹
I thought Chrome was the only one who filmed putting their socks on!😂
Nicely done! Put a little piece of board on the end so the treats don’t fall off…
I can't wait until you are back on the road. But this gave you time to improve your van build. It looks great
You are all so blessed to have each other. So if I want the big sticker do I need a big cat to go with it? Lol
I so love you and Kelly.
What about adding a small tv? It might be a fun new addition ❤️
Very nice window covers ❤
Glad that your van is coming together on the inside, it's looking great!
Good morning Emily so nice to see you young lady 👍
Hi Emi . You are very creative.
Hey , good day Emi and Kell hope you are doing well, looking forward to seeing your van done.
Looks really good Emily , it goes well with your cupboard you did before posh 👍❤
So good your videos ,,thank you
Awe kitty needs a treat!
You built that! You ROCK!
Praying that all goes well with you and your van. Hopefully it will be done soon.
Hope you don't have to wait much longer. You have accomplished many projects though. Kitty needs a pkg too.❤
Had the same deal with my heater hose also, but I couldn't enclose the heater hose because of loads, but boss made sure I had enough hose that expanded out and over to keep me warm in bed, which was behind the seats!! I just would use bungee cords to hold it up and facing me!! But yours looks so professionally done, and nice!! Your so talented and inventive!! ❤
Hi emi ❤
Emi your home is getting all the extra nice touches sometimes time is a good thing for your improvements 😅😊. Was thinking you frig could be put on slides and you could build another counter top and possibly a small sink with simple water system 🤩🌺. You are so talented and so happy you have gotten a good place for you and Kelly to enjoy and get your work and engine for your safety done! So excited for your travels… 😎❤️
I have the Wabasto and the plastic piece will only fit on the pipe not the unit. That's how they designed it. Maybe just cut your hose a little shorter. You will see it fits right on the pipe.
0:05 Miss Kitty's tail in the lower right corner 😊
You need a sleeve that will cover the ends and bind them
Great box Emi, great video too xx
Wow love your new magnetised side window covers ❤
I wish I could borrow you and your skills. I just love your van so much!!
I was thinking just what you ended up doing, use the hose you already have. The box was a great idea. Jayman...
Suggestion with the heater pipe: if you take it to a building supply with CVP pipe you mit be able to get a piece that with fit the outside of that pipe and transition to a bigger size. If there's anyone working there that knows about CVP pipe they might be able to help
Use pvc pipe or radiator hose with zip ties or hose clamps
Head to home dept or home hardware to get heating plastic pipe which will work
You'll be well rested by the time you hit the road Emmy. I don't think Kelly minds being in the shop too much as she can roam around more freely without a leash. Ha e you seen Joseph since he returned from Bali? He seems to be absent from the group of friend's get-togethers and I miss his smiling face among you.
Very clever fix.
I think you're awesome✌️ you're so strong and kind , your dedication is awesome ..and a great kitty momma☺️
