Wow!!! Great Video and I think I could handle going to that spot!! Looks like you had a successful Day of Crabbing! Looking forward to next weeks video!
I added a link to the traps I used to the video description. They are very nice traps that I've also used as a pier net for bringing up fish. Everything is included, even bait clips. Crab measurers are too big though, only need to be 4.5 inches in NJ.
@@danieltouch3572 Just free registry unless you want to use the commercial size pot. Then you need a license and a non-commercial pot permit which is $2 extra I think.
@@slingshotcrabbing you say I live on Staten Island right across the river and when I throw my traps in I use chicken 4 bunker and where I go crabbing at strictly Blue Crabs that's it no spider crabs no horseshoe crabs and occasionally I'll catch a lobster in that area a lot of structure there or should I say we catch lobster there
@@slingshotcrabbing yes they do was she is back I used to go upstate with a friend of mine we used to do a lot of ice fishing I will catch in a lot of white perch essence that is brackish water you crab at you never know what you might pick up
I don’t keep many fish, not that I actually catch many fish, except flounder. Love flounder, especially crab stuffed flounder. I’ll have to look more around the AC area to find where you’re talking about. I only know those little bridges because I went there a lot many years ago. Back when the Brigentien Castle and pier existed. The ice is actually a new thing I’ve been trying. I get a lot less die off than I used to. Still searching for the best, definitive way to keep them alive and survive the long trip home. I tried many different ways. This way actually works really well. It’s actually 2 buckets stacked together with the top bucket having drainage holes drilled in it. The water drains into the bottom bucket so the crabs aren’t sitting in ice water. I’ll try ice on the bottom though and see what happens. Thanks!
@@slingshotcrabbing drill holes in ur bucket about 2 or 3 inches from bottom for drainage in 4 spots ( 90° apart or at 3,6,9&12 on the clock ) on ur bucket , I find a 5/8" or 3/4" hole works just fine for this

Yea. You learn to spot it easily after awhile. Like how those fishing videos they can tell what kind of fish it is before it’s even at the surface just by the way it’s fighting.
@@slingshotcrabbing Nice, hopefully you do well. I'd recommend just tying a chicken leg on a string and just netting them. It seems to work better than the traps for some reason.
@@rumdab I agree. Stringing is a lot faster. I tried it a long time ago but I had a problem pulling the string and netting them with one hand. Maybe I'll give it another try. Need to buy a new net. One that is telescopic so it will fit in the Challenger.
If you have any suggestions on places to try please let me know. I’m always looking for new spots.
"1 car crash" had me dying, great video man
Great Job! Looks like the Old Crabbing spot we used to go to.

Thanks! Not sure where I'll be going next weekend. Maybe Municipal Beach Pier. It can be crowded though. Maybe 7 Bridges. I'll need to think about it.
Boy do I miss this🙁
What kind of crab rings are those and does the orange line come with it? You think you could provide a link to get some gear?

Thanks so much for that. Last thing that comes to mind is, do we need a license for crabbing or just the saltwater registry?

Great video! We’ll definitely check out that place, were there any bugs? New subscriber here.😊
There were tiny biting gnats. I had bug repellent though. They were only a nuisance when the wind died down.
Nit a good spot to stand people get hit all the time , if u look across the street and up the round at the abandon gas station you will see memorials
Your crabbing in brackish water I believe yeah I believe those are white perch
@@Bass59 Yep. They turned out to be white perch. I downloaded a new app that ID’s fish. It’s about 95% accurate. It’s called Picture Fish. Thanks!

I probably would have taken them home had I known at the time. I hear they taste pretty good.
