These templates are really well done. The setup is very intuitive and I got some pretty good first test results even without checking the documentation (so far I tried AI and portrait, the other 3 are next). I recently did some other depth map effects manually (from scratch) before, and that also came out nicely, but it took a lot longer and the best I could do was some very basic depth map and parallaxing effect. Well done, this is definitely worth it!

The depth map is needed to tell to AE how your picture is in the 3D space, not using it would be like animating a plane si the answer is no. But the depth map creation takes 30 seconds now with VoluMax Ai and there are very powerful tools online to generate them in seconds: huggingface.co/spaces/LiheYoung/Depth-Anything
Dumb question? Will adding multiple images say from a gif be a useful exploration? Is there a better software for that? I am looking for a way to have an interactive image or file that can be moved by touch on a touch screen device. Anyone have suggestions? Maybe point me in the right direction?

Is it possible to process few hundred pictures for depth map? I have about few hundreds jpg sequence from video and need to extract depth map. I was wondering if this tool could achieve that.
Volumax is a tool to animate photos in 3d in AE and it uses a Photoshop script to extract depth maps. So yes you can purchase to process your pictures in Photoshop but it is a small part of the Volumax package. There are other tools out there to extract just the depth map.

Open up the Actions Menu > click the III (extra options) > Load Actions > Find on your computer the file: AI AutoDepth - Photoshop 2022 (23.0) - High Quality. Then click the depth map option, and click the play icon which looks like a sideways triangle.
Is it meant to be so cluncky to use? I have been testing it out and it feels rather unstable the general feel of how it works, and the clicking on the buttons. Is that my set up as I have a decent laptop. with 16 of ram?.

If you're using a cracked Photoshop, it won't work. Adobe blocks access to neural filters, you will have to purchase a subscription or find a workaround

Volumax is in 4k but that doesn’t impact viewport or export speed, everything is optimized to go fast and After Effects is very smart with rescaling pictures nowadays. The advantage of working with 4K compositions here is to get extra detail and sharpness in the 3D Effects without loosing speed. You have to setup your viewport resolution factor to 1/4 Quarter to get realtime feedback. Important ! : Always export at the resolution you need to get it to work fast, you can use the new export presets (video tutorial included) Here are my settings : Adobe Media Encoder - H264 - 1080p (1920x1080) Export times are 4X times faster in 1080P than in 4K ! Finally keep in mind that some effects like Depth of Field / Particules / Flares will slow down the process, I recommend animating before and to finish with special effects.

Now the cropping when I save doesn’t work - still exports horizontal even when I clicked on the Instagram dimensions option. If I can’t figure that out I will contact you privately thank you.
Hello, like any AE project: set your total animation time, example 5 sec. Copy all the keys of your controller from 0 to 5 sec. That way you created a 5 sec loop.

Hello, Photoshop is only for the AI tool, all the other 4 tools do not require Photoshop. (Smart, Portrait, Landscape, Projector)

No this is a template for After effects. Photoshop is used for setup only for the AI tool.

unfortunately PShop 2022 does not recognise the Neural Filters 22.5.1 location

If you're using a cracked Photoshop, it won't work. Adobe blocks access to neural filters, you will have to purchase a subscription or find a workaround

It sucks that the only composition mode you can use is a 4K screen, you can't use a smaller screen size

Volumax is in 4k but that doesn’t impact viewport or export speed, everything is optimized to go fast and After Effects is very smart with rescaling pictures nowadays.
The advantage of working with 4K compositions here is to get extra detail and sharpness in the 3D Effects without loosing speed. You have to setup your viewport resolution factor to 1/4 Quarter to get realtime feedback.
Important ! : Always export at the resolution you need to get it to work fast, you can use the new export presets (video tutorial included)
Here are my settings : Adobe Media Encoder - H264 - 1080p (1920x1080)
Export times are 4X times faster in 1080P than in 4K !
Finally keep in mind that some effects like Depth of Field / Particules / Flares will slow down the process, I recommend animating before and to finish with special effects.

@@Cream-FX hi Gaetan, I think it was related to the clip not filling the dimensions. Anyway it’s working now. Now the cropping when I save doesn’t work - still exports horizontal even when I clicked on the Instagram dimensions option. If I can’t figure that out I will contact you privately thank you.

Hello, like any AE project: set your total animation time, example 5 sec. Copy all the keys of your controller from 0 to 5 sec. That way you created a 5 sec loop.

What do you do when the image size and aspect ratio is not the same as the template? Mine came out all screwed up when I changed the comp sizes.

You cannot resize the VoluMax compositions because everything is linked by expressions depending of the 4K resolution for quality improvement.
If you need custom resolution watch the export tutorial video included, there is chapter on that subject. The "resizing" is done at the end.
