    Hey Sewing Anastasia. I am a builder and build & fix many things involving everything from electrical to framing to handyman type stuff. In order to do these things I need tools that make everything possible and some of these tools consist of bags and carriers. One of my projects and the reason that I found your video is because I'll be trying to use my sewing machine to improve my main tool bag by fabricating some custom pockets that are more user friendly, stand up better and easier to access; some of the tools that i use are screw drivers, chisels, torpedo level, cats claw nail puller, needle nose pliers, pencils & marker, etc, etc... So I really appreciate your video and I am looking forward to diving into my leather project!

    Wow! This is awesome. We kept the leather from an old sofa and want to reuse for another furniture project. I was thinking about having to sew all by hand but this make my project quicker. I have two machines one 1960´s which is my go to, but another that has a denim setting so I will looking into the possibility of using leather. What I have a leather seems similar to what was used in the video. Thanks for posting this!

    Hi! I got a heavy duty singer just so I can produce more leather items! This video was amazing. I have the walking foot set up, nylon thread, and leather needles are geared up! I’ll tag you soon on Instagram when I get a few pieces made. Thanks!

    I never thought of this! Leather always seemed like either hand sewing or one of those "heavy duty" machines. Are there good faux leathers out there? Awesome as always✌️

      An industrial walking foot machine is often used but you can totally do it on the home seeing machine. There are totally great faux leathers out there! Thank you & happy sewing 🧵 🎀

    I thought you were not to reverse with the walking foot. I messed one up and had to replace it.

      @SewAnastasia  3 місяці тому

      Huh. I have not had any problems with it. Even my industrial walking foot machines have a reverse lever. How did you mess it up?

    Funny when a video claims to use a home sewing machine then brings out a $2,000 to 3,000 machine as if we all have those at home. To be honest, the stitching looked horrible to my eye despite the expensive machine. Also, I've heard waxed thread and nylon thread aren't recommended for a home sewing machine.

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  2 роки тому +2

      Sorry you don’t like my home machine. I hope you like yours & it works well for you. I’v never had a problem with those threads but if your uncomfortable using them in your machine then I wouldn’t. Thanks for watching

      @@SewAnastasia Love your machine, just not something most people have as a home machine. I bought some bonded nylon thread to try. Maybe I misunderstood about it. Thank you.

    Is there a stitch per inch that leather takes vs. fabrics? Also, you changed directions with needle up. I've always done with needle down. Am I doing it wrong? I'm using an old black singer from my grandmother.

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  Рік тому

      Hi, I would turn your corners with the needle down. The stitch length will depend on the type of leather but I would say 3-4 mm.

    Hello 👋🏼 thank you for the tips. I what tension did you use ?
    I’m having troubles. My needle thread is showing at the back. I have my tension set at 8 already. Ugh. I’ve tried 9 but the stitches are coming out slanted. Idk what I’m doing wrong. First time sewing faux leather. Help please :)

      Did you change your needle? How about your thread? Is your bobbin wound tightly?

    Lucky your sewing machine has an auto cut. Mine I had to cut the the thread with scissors. I have a brother cs 770 from 2008

    I mean no disrespect, but are you speaking in your head voice? It's not something you hear everyday.

    Hi Anastasia…great video!…could you please help me figure out what settings I would need to use on a Brother CP6500 home machine to see a piece of leather similar to one in this video to a piece of vinyl material?
    Trying to do a DIY repair of large sofa seat cushions with leather seat covers where the top seat pieces have rips in them 😢…I used seam ripper to remove top piece, but when I try to sew the leather side piece (top layer) to the replacement vinyl top piece (bottom layer) on my home sewing machine using heavy duty thread and leather/vinyl needle using 4.0 stitch length and 4 tension (top thread?) setting, and standard J presser foot, the top thread breaks always after the 3rd stitch 😢…
    Greatly welcome any suggestion/advice you could give please?…Thank you 😊

    • @Marie-yt5bs
      @Marie-yt5bs Рік тому

      Strange thing is if I use the needle that came with the machine, top thread doesn’t break, but then have unsolveable issues with top thread collecting on the bottom side of the vinyl material …tried adjusting to 5/6 and 3/1 tension on the dial (top thread?) but not fixing the excess top thread issue on bottom side of sewing material…please help?? 😢😢😢
      Going to buy Brother walking presser foot tomorrow, but unsure if will fix issue???

      Husqvarna Viking Designer Epic 2, but it should work on most home sewing machines. Thanks for watching!

      I love your voice. I think the commenters here are mistaking you speaking deliberately and articulately for being loud. I haven't started sewing yet, but you seem to have a very appropriate intonation for instructing sewing.
