    Hi Kasia! Very interesting video and useful info.

      Hi.
      I use Guttermann threads sizes from 30-80.
      They're polyester threads.

    • @kasiasleatherschool
      @kasiasleatherschool  5 місяців тому

      If it is soft leather, you should be fine. Are the seams top stitched or glued? If top stitched, it might leave the holes where you run off the seam.

  • @SimonNgYH
    @SimonNgYH 3 роки тому +1

    thank you for the video! can I ask what kind of thread do you use to sew for leather garments?

    • @kasiasleatherschool
      @kasiasleatherschool  3 роки тому +1

      You’re welcome 😊
      I would recommend anything thicker then 120,so sizes 70,80 and 30 are great for leather sewing. I Use Guttermann brand.

      I showed 3 different feet in this video (3rd foot is walking foot)...

      It's an industrial walking foot. Very heavy duty.
      It can run on very heavy leather and other heavy fabrics. Also great for denim.

    Kasia, what does it mean to cut 1pair main or 2 pair main, as opposed to cut 1 main.

    • @kasiasleatherschool
      @kasiasleatherschool  2 роки тому

      1 main means single piece cout out from main fabric. Pair means 2 pieces cut out from folded fabric to be mirror of each other.

    What is the best stitch length to use when topstitching leather? And best tension setting?

    • @kasiasleatherschool
      @kasiasleatherschool  7 місяців тому +1

      Stitch length depends on the thickness of leather and your preference of design, as all top stitching is a fashion feature . Tension needs to be adjusted in relation to thread thickness you will use.
      Always set your machine on the scrap of the leather you are going to use.

      This is an industrial walking foot machine . So foot is already part of the machine. But if you use a domestic machine, you can use quilting walking foot.

    Can I ask if working with leather, do you need a lining for it? Or do you not?

    • @kasiasleatherschool
      @kasiasleatherschool  Місяць тому

      Hi. Yes, in most garments, you will need to put lining in . There are skins that are specifically treated and have nice fish on both sides of the skin, and then you could skip the lining .
