    Could you please suggest me what type of thread ( nylon, poly...), its thickness, and the length of the stitch both for sewing parts together and for top stitch? Thank you very much for you precious help.

      Hi.
      I use Guttermann threads sizes from 30-80.
      They're polyester threads.

    Love it. Very insightefull. i intend to make a pair of trousers from a bunch of big scraps. These were probably cuts from quite soft and supple skins approx. 3 mm with the fluff included for garments. However still in the proces of thinking what kind of self drawn pattern to use. Anyway that is my own task. contemplating on some oldfashioned workmans trousers. I would like to ask if there would be special way to sew since the back is very fluffy?? i.e. the materialsurface on the inside is not smooth as the examples you used in your sewing here.

      I would recommend using a tissue paper underneath while sewing and then tearing it out. That will help the machine to slide/sew easier.

    What is the best stitch length to use when topstitching leather? And best tension setting?

    • @kasiasleatherschool
      @kasiasleatherschool  Рік тому +1

      Stitch length depends on the thickness of leather and your preference of design, as all top stitching is a fashion feature . Tension needs to be adjusted in relation to thread thickness you will use.
      Always set your machine on the scrap of the leather you are going to use.

    • @kasiasleatherschool

      If it is soft leather, you should be fine. Are the seams top stitched or glued? If top stitched, it might leave the holes where you run off the seam.

    What do you call the Presser Foot that you’re using?

    • @kasiasleatherschool
      @kasiasleatherschool  Рік тому +1

      This is an industrial walking foot machine . So foot is already part of the machine. But if you use a domestic machine, you can use quilting walking foot.

    Can I ask if working with leather, do you need a lining for it? Or do you not?

    • @kasiasleatherschool
      @kasiasleatherschool  7 місяців тому

      Hi. Yes, in most garments, you will need to put lining in . There are skins that are specifically treated and have nice fish on both sides of the skin, and then you could skip the lining .

      1 main means single piece cout out from main fabric. Pair means 2 pieces cut out from folded fabric to be mirror of each other.

      I would recommend anything thicker then 120,so sizes 70,80 and 30 are great for leather sewing. I Use Guttermann brand.

      This is professional industrial walking foot machine. Is worth it to invest in one if you plan to do a lot of leather sewing, bit if you just want to do occasional work then I recommend walking foot attachment for home sewing machine.
      I showed 3 different feet in this video (3rd foot is walking foot)...
