Thats a great point . Midsouth was far more story oriented in the ring than the crash and burn quick finish match in WCCW but Dallas camera work was the best in the industry . Imagine what MidSouth would have been like with Mickey Ward in charge of production ? Bills drama was some of the best in the industry too
Fifty years old fans do not watch WWF . They watch shoot interviews and old school wrestling from the 80s on UA-cam . To me you could build using the older fans until il younger fans discover old style wrestling . There is a call for boots and tights wrestling that worked to convince you that wrestling really was what you were watching .
I heard that Bill Watts was losing 50k a month . There was no territory left . I am from Louisiana and lived through that oil bust . No one had a job . It was a local depression . I lived off of a major road and saw no traffic for hours before a single car appears . Every non oil business was suffering because the main oil industry fueled their business .
The is decent money still on the table . Fans of the old territory wrestling are completely disengaged with wrestling . People my age 50+ have disposable cash and time in their hands . It’s f you could get a TV deal locally or even shoot on UA-cam an old school territorial weekly show in midsized venues you can make good money . The reason most independents struggle is (A) they are not after the under represented fans , they want Vinces demographic ( B ) they have no media and ( C ) They do not have deep pockets to help their business while its still in its growing stages .
Skandor has an excellent memory and is a great interview. If only the guy doing the interview would stop interjecting at inopportune times. Would be great to see Jim Cornette interview Skandor.
JYD needed a coworker that could shine him up and be very giving . When he went to WWF he wasn’t the golden goose and no one was so willing to shine him up when in fact they wanted to work with Hogan . They would eat up any face to look strong and get a run with Hogan
This interviewer is terrible. I have never heard a interview where the person asks a question and then constantly interrupts and talks over the person trying to answer the question
I love skandor great heel wrestler in, 70s and manager great interview because he tells it like it is tells it all
When I first began watching local wrestling he was the big macca . He was The North American Heavyweight Champion .

I grew up with with the General on my television ❤
Yes! Every Weekend he was on my TV.
I love this guy. I remember him when his finisher was the bare hug.
Ewww … I think you mean Bear Hug , not Bare ( Naked ) hug .
Fantastic interview!!

All hail the great akbar!! RIP
Akbar literally means Great . Skandor Akbar is how Arabs recall Alexander the Great .

I saw him in 1987 in UWF managing The Sheepherders with Jack Victory.

This is part 2.grear.❤❤❤
NOW I KNOW
Why they call him a GENERAL
JYD needed a coworker that could shine him up and be very giving . When he went to WWF he wasn’t the golden goose and no one was so willing to shine him up when in fact they wanted to work with Hogan . They would eat up any face to look strong and get a run with Hogan
Tommy Gilbert and akbar went at it in Tahlequah ok.😊
WCCW was so much better and bigger than Mid-South
I have The Crocketts DVD where they explain it all 💯
Wasn't he Billy Whitewolf tag champ w/ Chief Strongbones WWWF.
No that's sheikh Adnan El Kassie who was actually from the middle east.
