I can't be the only one who noticed this but when elphaba is walking through the hall just after the wizard and I, a small part of somewhere over the rainbow plays. gets me every time, just love all of the small easter eggs in wicked part one
There's also a tiny section of the score in the Wizard's palace that goes from the Unlimited leitmotif into a snippet of For Good and then straight into No One Mourns the Wicked, it was about 7 seconds of perfection.
At the end of Elphaba's encounter with Fieryo in the forest, he asks her if she wants a ride back to Shiz, and she says "Get Stuffed" - a reference to him later becoming the scarecrow...
Another one from that same scene: when Elphaba asks him if this is how he goes through life, Fiyero replies with “no, usually I’m asleep”. This is a nod to their introduction in the musical, where he is asleep in the cart when he almost runs into her.
Dude I was full on BAWLING when they showed up the first time. I knew they were gonna be in it but I thought it was just gonna be like a cameo in the background or something but NOPE! They did something way better
Yes but the slippers that are placed on Dorothy are the Wicked witch of the Easts aka nessa roses silver spiral slippers like the original Wizard 0f Oz witches shoes were silver in the book with stripey socks. Madame Morrible controls the elements that kill Nessa Rose by Dorothys house landing on it
@ Yes, I'm aware. The three clicks of the red shoes during Popular was an easter egg referencing the red slippers in the movie. It was a clever way of getting in that reference since they decided to go with the original silver ones.
During One Short Day, when Glinda and Elphaba are heading off as they sing about coming back to the Emerald City, they have a certain ‘skip’ to their steps
it didn't hit me until this video but that fact that Fiyero asks Elphaba "well.... are you coming?" and then Elphaba asks that of Glinda during Defying Gravity it's not much of an easter egg but i'm wanting to rewatch the movie/play to see if there's other lines like this
The poppies: When Elphaba accidentally casts the spell with the poppies, Fiero asks, what did you do and why didn't it affect me? I think this is foreshadowing as the scarecrow is also not affected by the poppies.
Yup yup ❤ if you read the book or saw the musical you know what happens. Just less of a build up of other characters like Nessa and Boq. Boq later becoming the Tinman when Nessarose takes over and oppresses the entire munchkin population to keep Boq by her side. The Father failed Elpheba by blaming her. It was the Elixir that turned her green and the Wizard having an affair with the Mother. In the book the females actually ruled the realms in OZ so Nessa and Elpheba would be in line for being in charge
According to The Wizard of Oz, Only the Scarecrow and Tin Man aren’t affected by the poppies because they aren’t made of flesh. But Boq too becomes affected by the poppies and the reason why is most likely because in the movie, the Tin Man rusts again due to the snow that lands on him and melts into water therefore rusting him
@@pikabununifythen don’t watch or read any comments on these posts. I’m not saying that hateful, just a fact. Every single video/post/etc goes beyond the first movie. The broadway musical has been out for 20 years, these aren’t considered “spoilers” at this point
The broken window at 17:10 could also be a reference to Maguire's book, when the window bursts open during a storm, which scares Elphaba completely. The winds knock down the boxes with Galinda's head and she urges Elphaba to try the most frilly one. In the books, that's when they start to grow closer.
Elphaba never getting wet Everyone knows that the Wicked Witch of the West will melt when exposed to water. Of course, the rumor of this concept would not be brought up until Act 2. But we won’t go anywhere farther than that until Part 2 comes out. However, there have been a few nods to this info throughout Part 1. During ‘The Wizard and I’ sequence, Elphaba can be seen jumping onto stepping stones while avoiding the water below. The joke about her “melting” was part of the song itself. Another hint can be found after Elphaba receives her invitation to the Emerald City. When the sudden rain storm appeared, Madame Morrible shared an umbrella with Elphaba, not wanting her to “get wet”.
During “No One Mourns The Wicked” after Glinda tells the munchkins the story of Elphabas childhood when they’re wheeling out the effigy of Elphaba to burn the sign says “Kill The Witch” which could be a reference to the line “Kill The Witch” in the song “March Of The Witch Hunters”
Some others I've seen are the use of the 1939 graphics for the studio and title at the beginning as well as in the beginning after the close up of the hat and the monkey's flying out of the castle you see them fly over a "rainbow" and the camera pans to a tundra of the "new land" of Oz to find Dorothy & her friends going down the yellow brick road. Also, the choreography of Fiyero dancing sort of stiff kneed and dancing with more of his hole leg is an allusion to the dance the Tin Man does in the original "Wizard of Oz" film.

Spoiler warning: I wondered about, at the very start just after the flying monkeys break through the window and fly over the bridge, a cloak wearing character is leaving the castle on a horse (Which appears to be a familiar hue to one seen later...), and considering the act 2 story, would it be fair to think this rider might be a certain witch?

My biggest concern is how we are going to survive all these financial and political crises, especially the power struggle in the US. The government has really made things difficult for its citizens and we cannot just sit by and suffer the consequences of bad governance🙏...,,
I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than $21k passively by just going into crypto investment , and I don't have to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my finances remain secure. So I really don't blame people who panic.
