Despite your warning, i went and saw this movie anyways......you were right. And, being completely honest, I think you were not harsh enough on this dogshit of a movie.
Hollywood is so bereft of ideas. You mentioned the medieval times fan-fic - how cool would a film taking place during a war, like WWI? 2 sides are slowly being wiped out as they hide in their foxholes, only to slowly realize it's not the other side doing it? So the few remaining Germans and English need to get together to defeat it. But, they also still want to kill each other as well. _That_ could be a tension filled movie because when you see the disemboweled soldier you don't know _who_ did it. Ah well, some more tripe to not watch.
Might work slightly better in the Pacific theatre, with the jungles and Japanese with their honour code and brutality reflecting that of the predator, might even be some mutual respect in there between the two

Seriously, I've been wanting a Beowulf-inspired Predator film, with the monster crashlanded in Denmark and fighting an ancient Germanic barbarian. You can even work in the Predator getting his arm ripped off.

I just had the most vivid image of a bunch of Autistic Predators on a hot planet, avoiding eye contact with each other. A predator dog pukes up a grenade, blowing itself up. The predators start screaming as they scatter in every direction, slamming into trees and running into oncoming traffic. At least they are now the most evolved species in the universe. Yay for that.

You do know,that there was an actual predator in the movie and they had to cut out his scenes,after the guy was doxed by Olivia Munn? The guy was convicted and did time,for sexually assaulting a 14-year old girl in 2011,which apparently had some mental issues,he met her online and lured her to his house.
Oh and it get's better,Shane Black,is apparently a good friend with this registred sex-offender and puts him in all his movies.

It's amazing how Shane Black ignored all the Dark Horse stories. How about the Predator arriving in Mexico City in 1521, when Aztecs and Spaniards went at it? Olivia Munn could have been a Tlaxcalan priestess saved by a Spanish foot soldier, and given us all the exposition in sign language, bypassing a lot of useless exposition. Or how about Olivia Munn's character become Machiko 'Small Knife'? All that wasted possibility! Great review by the way.
While I figured we would see a human Predator by now in one of these films (not counting the right of passage scar for Alexa in AvP and definitely not counting Nolands intro in Predators) I surely didn't think we would get there via Iron Man 4- Rasta Man.

Space alien ninjas. Then, the predators show up. They are trying to figure shit out, but these turtles jump up and kick up in their pussy face! Then you mix in some non-combat humans to just gawk at the swirl of weirdness. Maybe Casey Jones for luls. Most die, because aliens don't grow on trees. End on pred gauntlet exploding. Print money. They get three jokes for the whole movie. One when the turtles are introduced, one when they kill the first pred, and one when they survive the nuke-like explosion. That's it. They better be mother-fukin' gut busters. Get a team of comedians to work on just those three for like months. That's all they do. Everyone has to care about the property, none of these 'Take it in a new direction' assholes. 'Subvert my expectation' and make a good movie. I want to see some acting award nods AT LEAST. Then, when they do TvsPvsA2 they can throw it away. Make the first one good enough to be rebooted in a decade, right after the all dog version of Terminator vs Robocop vs Alf or something.
Wait, doesn't Shane's excuse about the movie not being as scary because they fight the Predator during the day make little sense seeing as the first movie did exactly that, fight the Predator during the day?
I mean, yeah, the final fight takes place at night, but most of the deaths occur in a jungle... during the day.

The first Predator wasn't a horror film. It was an action film. Why try and make it into a horror film?
Chad Vader the first predator was an action movie that turned into more of a "holy shit this elite group of soldiers who made this group of guerrillas into putty are being hunted down one by one by an invisible, almost all powerful alien" sort of terror, a sort of subversion of the 80's action hero movies at the time.
Not to forget that the Predator also has cloaking technology and can stalk around barely visible even in broad daylight.

Yautja (Preds) are tropical species that like tropical climates. Earth, if fully terraformed by climate change, would be warm as fuck, hence good place for invasion.

I love how Munn's character just knows how to handle high-power firearms, as if the filmmakers were so excited to show a woman shooting that they forgot to reconcile it with her PROFESSION (biologist).

I was listening last night whilst trying to get to sleep and a) it didn't help, too funny and b) I was silently laughing so hard that I woke my wife up and had to switch off :) Hope your health problems have improved somewhat. I also watched the biohacker documentary - very well made. By the way, I have never before refused to watch a movie, but The Predator is the first one. I may eventually watch it on telly, but I refuse to pay money for it. Especially as I saw the 30th anniversary re-release of the original and it was like watching it for the first time.

Yeah, that's the unfortunate truth about most Hollywood films nowadays, a lot of them have no respect towards classic IP's when they want to make a new remake or sequel. They are more like badly written fan fiction now than actual movies which is quite ironic since you mentioned Predator: Dark Ages which is an actual fan film but it's more like an actual Predator movie than this horrid trash film.
And seriously, what the fuck were they thinking by having an autistic child be the next stage of Predator evolution?! What a load of bollocks! The last time I remember Predators hunted Humans for sport as a means to gain prestige within their own clan and they would only hunt Humans that actually pose a threat, that's why they don't kill pregnant woman because killing a child is dishonourable. This new "retcon" of Predators hunting Humans for our DNA makes absolutely no sense.

Indeed the new hip thing is to pretty much erase all the good f****** lore, just to take a stab at being a hack writer that if it fails you destroy a great franchise, if it succeeds somehow then you'll claim it was all you. Poor Star Wars, mine is George Lucas it a good extended universe all those books all those plot lines gone in an instant f*** you Disney and f*** you Mickey Mouse for giving Lucas's secretary any power. Not like I care anyway as far as I'm concerned the sequel trilogy and any attempts to connected to the movies and retcon all the good s*** before can go f*** itself, as I retcon them. Nothing like a mine massive fan that I'll tell other people what to do. But that's as far as I'm believing at least, same with the alien franchise, predator's and Terminator, as far as I'm concerned none of those movies went past the second. In the case of alien, Alien 3 didn't happen, instead the real alien 3 was alien isolation

The great, underrated first Predator mini-series was about The Predators finally being able to hunt above the equator due to climate change. But they have no interest in war or conquest and the minute it becomes a war with humanity they leave.

I had no idea I could decode and understand alien languages at the drop of the hat until I saw this sequel reboot or whatever it is. Jeez, the plot is so hilariously bad that I couldn't believe it was real until I saw it "legally". This video is one of the only saving graces to come out of this reboot, though, and hey, no matter what, we'll always have the original.

Predator 2 was decent change, but the stalker far away from civilization and was an Apex Hunter looking for worth prey was far better. But slowly it has been bled out and left to rot, like all the other classics turned to franchises and milked till there’s nothing.

If I was going to make a Pred movie: I would flip the script. I would have the movie open, looking just like the first movie. Show a
Pred hunting a military team in the jungle. It attacks and you get your gory kills. Then another military team drops in to save the day with their own high-tech gear and takes the Pred out. Give the Humans an anti-pred force that has been successfully eliminating Predators when they show up and is a genuine threat to the Preds. How would the Preds respond? I'm just spit-balling, but the idea could have potential.
