- After a little hiatus, Bar Talk & Cocktails is back with new episodes. Starting with how to make the Golden Dream Cocktail. When I started my bartending career way back in the 1970s, it was a dark period for cocktails. I was a little hesitant to make the Golden Dream for you, for fear it’d be just as nasty and cloying as similar drinks of its time. But, the Golden Dream is actually delicious. Why wouldn't it? It contains Galliano!! However, if we dig a little deeper, its origins may be found a number of years prior the 1970s. Maybe that's why I like it! The alcoholic version of that classic frozen treat for grownups. A Creamsicle in a glass! Cheers!

THE GOLDEN DREAM COCKTAIL
--------------------
IN A SHAKER COMBINE:
1oz (30ml) - GALLIANO L'AUTENTICO
1oz (30ml) - COINTREAU
1oz (30ml) - ORANGE JUICE (FRESHLY SQUEEZED)
1/2oz (15ml) - CREAM
-TOSS IN SOME ICE AND GIVE IT A GOOD SHAKE.
-FINE STRAIN INTO A CHILLED COCKTAIL GLASS.
-TRADITIONALLY SERVED WITHOUT A GARNISH.

Wow. A surprisingly good cocktail from the 70s. Creamiscle front end with an herbal kick on the back end. I think I'm gonna try subbing or splitting the Cointreau with Nonino.

What a coincidence. Yesterday I also made myself an adult Dreamsickle drink: 1 egg, 1 squeezed orange, 1 oz Cointreau, 1 oz vanilla vodka, 1/2 oz grenadine but the grenadine ruined the color so I'll use something else next time.

The L'Authentico version sound like the tiger tail ice cream (orange and liquorice). Need to find me a bottle of it. Fresh orange juice is better. Likely in teh 70s they you Tang orange juice ;)

Even before you tried it I figured this drink was designed more for the Galliano Vanilla, if the goal of the drink was to be like a creamsicle drink
