@@garageguy879 Unfortunately their illegal in my state, the ATF doesn't consider them as fully automatic. At the same time they are very similar to fully auto.
In 1992 I purchased used in mint condition a stainless charter arms off duty 38 special.. manufactured in the 1980s back in charter arms Stratford Connecticut plant.. what an excellent gun.. still one of my favorites.. it's not plus p rated but plenty of standard pressure self defense loads.. back then including Federal nyclads .. Winchester silver tips.. and eventually Federal Hydra shocks standard pressure...
I own a pug. With the fixed sites, I've found when looking through the rear site, make sure you are able to see the full ramp of the front site and you'll be right on target. I also run only magnum rounds through her. She does beat your hand up a little bit with magnum rounds, but very powerful round and a well made firearm for the price.
I have a old classic stainless steel Ruger 357 Security 6, 4.2in barrel from 1982, the Security 6 was in production from 1972 to 1988. The Ruger Security 6 is the predecessor to the Ruger GP100. It's such a beautiful revolver, I don't like to shoot it much.
Thanks for the info. I'm not crazy about ports either. My Taurus 605 is somewhat beefier than the Charter Arms and it gives you the " what-for" when magnums are fired.
I’ve owned a few over the years including one of the early ones. Neat little guns. Always worked. With this one it just seems like a gun that big should be a six shot. Another great vid sir.
Unfortunately the front sight on the charter arms mag pug 357 is a little high.. if you put the very bottom of the front sight where it attaches to the barrel in the bottom of the rear window it will hit point of aim.. most mag pug owners file the site down approximately halfway and there is no longer a problem
Only drawback of the magpug that I found was the front sight is way too high... You have to put the front sight.. toward the bottom of the rear sight .. most gun owners file the front site down about halfway paint it with orange paint and it's perfect!
It's funny you said that because while I still had the Pug,I did a comparision video of it with my SP 101.I'll be uploading it next week. And I do agree with you.The SP 101 is the best 5 shot revolver out there.
I always use a large piece of cardboard at first to see where I'm hitting. From what I hear these pugs typically shoot low with most having to file down some front sight. Some call these "combat" sights where you cover the target with the front sight or you'll be shooting low.
@@craigc6892 charters sights are set a bit high vs others. I think charter does this on purpose, so you can set the fixed sights to preference by filing it or not. This will also vary on 38spl or 357 or weight or +p. Also it's just a snub, doesn't need to be accurate really.
The main difference between the Pug and the 22 mag Pathfinder is that the frame is aluminum on the pathfinder and the frame on the Pug is steel.
You should do a video on binary triggers, I don't know if their legal or not in your state or not.
@@TheProAer I need to do some research on that first.

Yes most mag pug owners file front sight halfway down.. and paint it Orange it will then be perfect
Thanks for posting this. I get a lot of questions about Charter Arms, but have had little experience with them and they are not sold anywhere locally.
I never met many guns I didn't like as long as they worked. Good video!
Thank you
Very Cool 357 magnum Revolver from Charter Arms !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like Charter's and I own a couple of them in .38. The Mag Pugs have a tendency to loosen up quickly with .357 use however. Thanks for the video.
Like the cylinder?
Garageguy I love the videos you put out, very simple and easy to follow, Hope you have a good Labor day weekend my friend. I love them wheel guns.

To be honest Greg, this doesn't hold a candle to the 605.But it's still a decent choice for a budget revolver.
I like my Undercover so much I recently bought a Police Undercover
Honesty in your review is a winner. Subbed.

Yea,I agree with you about the 605.I find mine to be a better made revolver.
I Ike’s the honesty of this video.
It’s real life stuff.
Thank you very much
This is the exact gun Im going to buy from my local gun shop. Ported barrel and everything.
looking at one. appreciate the review
I have never owned a Charter Arms thanks for sharing.
Hello Keith,,I think Taurus would be a better choice

No,it was on loan from my buddy Patrick. He no longer has it.

Don’t be so hard on yourself!
You’re doing okay 👌
As an inexpensive revolver do you like this better than the windicator or less than the windicator?
The Pug is a much better choice for ccw. Both work well but as far as long term, the jury is still out on that.I'd go with a Taurus 605.
Great video!
Thank you!
do you know revolver alpha proj 3541s stainless 357magnum construction czech republic opinion thanks in advance
I'm not familiar with that revolver but I will do some research on it.I have found that firearms made in the Czech Republic are usually well made.
@@garageguy879 ok 👍
The barrel rifling on the mag pug extends all the way to the end of the barrel...
The SP 101 from Ruger after that everything else is second.

Mag pug came in .41 mag. Sp101 doesn’t
Ported barrels are asking for trouble never been a fan of them for carry guns
Neither have I.They are louder and in a low light situation, that 1st shot can really mess up your eyes.

Those Charter Arms revolvers have really grown on me this past year.Very underrated.
Their good American guns
I have the 9mm pitbull 6 shot..nice little shooter

I can't even find 357 mag once fired brass right now
It's the same around here for reloading supplies, especially 357 magnum and 38 special. And things aren't going to get any better for a long time.

Can you shoot a Charter Arms while wearing a Smith and Wesson t shirt? 😱
