Another great education lesson Jake. When I started it was so frustrating, as the arrows seemed like they had a mind of the own. And then watched your video of arrow spines. After working out the right spine to the draw, things improved markedly. Thank you for this one Jake, these are only minute changes, and cannot wait for the next trip to the range. God Bless, and thank you for your time.
I just got back to shooting after a few weeks off for injury (fracture in the elbow joint.... Not fun) and I find I'm making all of these mistakes again..... Several facepalms later after this video I'll keep an eye on myself 🤣 Needed this one thank ye squire
@@janickgonzalez8900 thanks indeed there! Fortunately I have a very good doctor and physio that helped enormously. Couldn't shoot for 6 weeks though....
I have a question about follow through and grip. How important is the bow hand release? Is that just an Olympic recurve technique or does it apply to barebow? Total Archery has a chapter on that, but I have not found much information outside that (I did search your site, but did not find a specific video on this form element).
Two days before my first ever competition I realised that I opened my teeth when anchoring. Closing my teeth caused my arrows to go about 40cm higher at 30m. I didn't want to change anything, so spent the whole competition deliberately keeping my jaw open the same amount.
I'm getting 4 minutes of unskippable ads before this video. Don't think Ill be viewing your videos for awhile, it's on your whole channel. Way too much.
Thank you Jake. Though I usually don't hit my arm with the string, one of the coaches told me to turn my elbow inwards at the time of raising the bow every time, so that the forearm goes out a bit, creating room between it and the string. Do you advise doing it as a necessary step?
Jake, thank you for this content. All three 3⃣ of these mistakes are ones to remember to address that I've experienced creeping back if I'm not conscientiously thinking about them as I shoot!
I watched this right before I went to archery practice, and realized I have been shooting with my mouth open since I first started!!! But it was such a simple fix and I felt and shot so much better after realizing it 😊 🏹
I do the third one and hit my arm from time to time. Thanks! (Another saved video) BTW there is another Korean coach who developed an influential technique. Do you recall his name? Any information on the method?
@@garymickus6412 I don't have his book, it's ridiculously expensive. The form explanations in the app are broken up into small chunks and are quite straightforward. He teaches a fairly classic form. Personally I would recommend looking at Online Archery Academy if you want in depth instruction, although Kim Hyung Tak's app doesn't cost much.

😀👍🏻 Good ones, I had forgotten about the closed mouth! Obvious, but forgotten.
Nice to see you out with the trad gear❤
I'm new to Archery & find your videos very helpful. Thanks

Wow, it's a real miracle you were even able to return bro...hope you get even better soon dude, God bless ✌️

Man, so helpful. So easy for these bugs to creep back in and effect form and very helpful for beginners or those teaching beginners/kids.
Thank you. New to Archery. I never heard about the mouth tip. Thank you
Excellent Jake. Simple but vital.
That third tip is something I've never heard about until now, and it makes so much sense. Brilliant.
Same, my bruised arm will be forever grateful 😂
Like that bow!
Good teacher
this video is very useful thanks for the tips im looking for more good video's/tip
Close my mouth? My buds will think I’ve died! I talk the whole time. :-)))

Good job
Can I see the next bideoton developing arm steength
If Nike aren’t paying you, you need to be advertising your own gear…business 101 !!

They should be skippable. Usually unskippable are only 15 seconds max…
UA-cam premium is well worth the cost… I would never go back to regular UA-cam
Очень интересный материал. Да все три ошибки есть и теперь знаю как с ними бороться. Спасибо за информацию

Awesome content. It seems a very transferable information.
Excellent explanation! 👍
Such a valuable resource… the archery community is lucky… thank you.🙏
Thanks for the Super Thanks!

You may be thinking of Kisik Lee.
Kim Hyung Tak is probably the most influential Korean archery coach. He has a mobile app that includes many video lessons.
@@HamishGarland Thank you! Did Tak write a instructional book? How does his approach differ from Lee’s?

@@Ezzie0304 No, there is another Korean coach that offers a different approach to Olympic recurve archery.
