- The trailer for a Zoo Tycoon 2 mod I've been working on for a couple years at this point, due to release on December 20th, 2022. The mod's goal is to revamp the game in a way that respects the original art style - it modifies animal sizes and biome compatibility, adds more color variants to animals, changes a few animals to be closer to their real-life counterparts and adds a handful of new behaviors to the mix - including some consequences for not properly taking care of animals.

Not the reccomendation i was expecting, but I'll take it.
I really love the stylized art style that make me feel nostalgic for the game and I find it very charming. Making the game more photorealistic just ruins it for me as it feels really off, dull and soulless for this game. It doesn't feel like the same game I grew up with. But I do understand why people prefer more realism, especially before Planet Zoo was released.
It would be nice to see some compatibility patches made for some popular vanilla-style mods and addons, like Arabian Nights + Island Excursions, Forgotten Animals, the works of Holden, and Paranoia, for use with this.

I can't believe all the incredible new content you've added to the game! Watching this trailer gave me the same excitement I got waiting for Cretaceous Calamity or even the real expansion packs back in the day. Absolutely can't wait to download it, thanks so much for all your hard work.

I'm really liking this mod´s concept! I especially like the whole vanilla theming and the main menu reference to the original Zoo Tycoon is really cute! I'm eager to test it once it releases.

Making accurate but not hyper realistic it’s like blue fang adding new animals or fixing a mistake
And there are some features everyone want in the original game, incredible work. Can’t wait to make more dynamic zoos

Creaking Skull
While this mod looks fantastic and definitely feels like a fresh start to the Zoo Tycoon series, the questionable choice I have is with the Walkthrough exhibits, now Giant Tortoises and Peacocks (presumably) are fine, they work perfectly for this idea.. Koala’s are the ones that I’m the most concerned with, since they’re actually pretty nasty animals, and I don’t think a zoo would allow people this close to them, especially with the mod focusing on making the animals more dangerous. Regardless can’t wait to see the finished product with the redesigned Extinct animals and new surprises like the Elephant Seal, keep up the good work!
So with the addition of the elephant seal, are some of the missing animals from ZT1 coming back?

Pls give us more info abbout the mod, is the elephant seal the only new animal added?, does the dinosaurs have a new batteling animation? What Does the smilodon look like now? Ect
no the liger is in the game, no the dinosaurs dont have new animations, and no smilodon dossent get a new look but it is smaller now

Crap. I haven't been excited for anything Zoo Tycoon related since that terrible remake back in 2013, but by golly this made my day.
Will it be compatible for forgotten animals with the creatures with new models?

Jokes aside, yes they can be hurt if you place them in an exhibit/decide to let the animals loose, but not killed. Here, they can be killed if a big enough animal (like that elephant or a T-rex) goes berserk and attacks.
