Brittany doesn’t like new Taylor because it’s a 33 year old adult writing about 33 year old adult problems. She’s fine with old Taylor because she was a sixteen year old writing about sixteen year old problems. So much of the content Christian influencers recommend seems to be infantilizing them.

Probably also has to do with Taylor Swift now being more vocal about encouraging voting and being a feminist.
Edit to add: There's a clip of Taylor talking about wanting to encourage more people to vote because she saw how Trump's presidency affected women's rights and LGBTQ rights.

And yet alot of th community still struggled with lust , porn, depression etc. Them blaming it on music Is actually th silliest thing I've heard an adult say. 😂 I bet some people who struggled with things in tht nature , wish it were as easy as shutting off and blaming it on secular music.

You can't sit there and act like anyone who isn't Christian (or any derivative) is automatically bad and everything they do is of Satan meanwhile you have Christians doing the same exact thing and people will ne so quick to forgive them or brush things under the rug. I went and checked the etymology of the word "entertainment", something Brittany should really have done before she got into this. It's Brittany so I'm not surprised, but whatever else we may think of her, she's not stupid. Shrewd? Clearly not. But not stupid.
Etymology is a true interest of mine. I love to know the origin of words. It bothers me so much when people use modern English and their assumptions to "break down" what a word means.
    FTR:
    entertainment (n.)
1530s, "provision for support of a retainer; manner of social behavior," now obsolete, along with other 16c. senses; from entertain + -ment. Meaning "the amusement of someone" is from 1610s; sense of "that which entertains" is from 1650s; that of "public performance or display meant to amuse" is from 1727.
    Entertain (v.)
late 15c., "to keep up, maintain, to keep (someone) in a certain frame of mind," from Old French entretenir "hold together, stick together, support" (12c.), from entre- "among" (from Latin inter) + tenir "to hold" (from Latin tenere, from PIE root "-ten" "to stretch").
Sense of "have a guest" is late 15c.; that of "gratify, amuse" is 1620s. Meaning "to allow (something) to consideration, take into the mind" (of opinions, notions, etc.) is 1610s.
    Source: etymonline.

Oh man, this is gonna be a hot mess 😂 I’m waiting for her to discover popular rock/metal bands like Twin Temple, Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse and see her brain absolutely explode because of DeMoNs!!! Absolutely NOTHING Brittany was listening prior to her convictions and encouraging her followers to be afraid of is satanic. Doja Cat and Taylor Swift is not making demonic music. It baffles me the things she really believes. If Satan is real he has far better things to do than “win over souls for hell” through a song. Her faith must be so weak if she is opening her soul to the devil all because of a Taylor Swift song. Her anxiety and lust isn’t a satan problem its a Brittany Dawn problem.
I think what all of these fundies/evangelicals forget about and what makes them impossible to relate to is that there is more to the human experience than just your identity as a Christian. They fail to see that a lot of secular music is layered in a lot of metaphor and figurative language. Secular music tackles the many layers of what life is that worship music just doesn’t. Sure, worship music can help when you are going through difficult things, but at a certain point when you have exhausted yourself praying and praising and things still don’t get better, the only thing that does help you feel better is listening to a fast paced song about arson or something “dEmOnIc”.

My first critisism is that the 3 of them sound like they been kidnapped and been forced to make a generic christian podcast and their lives depend on it. It's crazy how non-specific nearly everything they say is.
The other thing I've noticed about all 3 of them is how obsessed they are with restriction and ritual. It's so disordered and unhealthy.
Ok one more thing; it's WILD to me that BD and Porgan can listen to Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, etc. to 'see how demonic it is', but the ONLY reason someone else would listen to it is because they're sinning. The lack of awareness is astounding. What a myopic way to live in the world.

Only a few minutes into your video has me thinking of something interesting. (To be upfront, I am a deconstructed, deconverted former Evangelical Christian. I now identify as atheist/agnostic.)
The way CCM is used in many churches and church camps can be so sinister and emotionally manipulative, especially for minors and young adults under 25 not fully developed in their rational thinking. I think producers of CCM have it down to a science how to exploit listeners to get big emotional reactions from them and indoctrinate them into conservative Christianity. I do not think it is hardly ever intended to be genuine and uplifting. That being said, I'm still a big fan of some CCM. I choose to remove it from a Christian context and put it into a more universal and generalized perspective because that is more empowering for me. And I realize there are progressive Christian artists within CCM and they have my full support, because I believe their politics are typically safe and respectful.
I just think it's funny when conservative Christians try to call out secular artists for non religious themes in their music and many of the artists have never claimed to be Christians in the first place. And meanwhile, there is an entire music industry like CCM that's foundation is rooted in indoctrination and emotional manipulation. Hillsong United comes to mind, plus the church scandals associated with that name. 😢
Win for the week: I've been slacking on sharing mine oops. 😅 I had a really tough class on Wednesday, but the situation helped me realize a lot of my personal strengths and have more appreciation for my goals in life and working towards them to the best of my ability. ❤ I am still handling this issue, but I feel more confident about it and I'm hopeful it will be resolved. 🤞

More like a pre-win for the week, but I'm going on a trip this Sunday. First vacation in a while!! A few things that stood out to me, are 1)That while they do mention Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez, whenever they talk about music being bad they bring up Rap and Hip-Hop more than any other genre, you would think they'd talk about metal or something, but they never do, 2) For people that talk about how self absorbed everybody else is, they all seem to think very highly of themselves, it almost felt like Morgan was being condescending whenever she'd laugh at Brittany mentioning that she used to like Taylor Swift (it could be nerves, but still), and 3) As someone who has experienced Sleep Paralysis and has dealt with depression, the idea that two people who don't really seem to believe in psychology are going around saying mainstream music is the cause is kind of concerning. Personally music usually improves my mood and plenty of people find it therapeutic.

I'm sorry, but Brittany really strikes me as someone not being genuine about her beliefs and faith. Like Paul&Morgan have said some outlandish and horrible things, but I think they genuinely believe what they are saying is true and trying to proselytize because of that. Even when Paul knows he is posting clickbait, you can hear him struggle to commit fully and you hear the nervousness in his words (like his Taylor Swift video).
Brittany actually feels like she is saying the most ragebait and brain-dead claims, in a way that is condescending and arrogant, in hopes it will generate more views. She reminds me of those female alpha podcast pick mes that sides with the redpill dudebros in hopes she will stay relevant. I decided to do some basic research after this video and it looks like she had a history of grifting in the Health & Fitness industry and now is using Christianity to deflect and escape the controversy (I don't get how she can make those claims about the entertainment industry while partaking in a deceitful and vain industry herself - Some of what she said sounds like she is projecting what she did to her clients). Picking up all the jargon to formulate her bad faith takes and trying to claim "conviction" behind them, but there being no substance or concrete examples behind her claims. You were spot on Paul&Morgan not fully committing to either way and how unsure they sound. I would not be surprised if she is lying about banning secular music and still listens to it.
Even though the topic is less problematic like homophobia / sexism / racism / the usual works, I think the reason why you (and I) got a little heated is because IF she is not being genuine with her faith, she is breaking the 3rd Commandment "don't take the Lord's name in vain". She would be making all these claims in the name of Christianity and the Holy Spirit while lying about it. Obviously there are worse things to grift over and both are still bad, but there is something insidious about making claims you know are wrong or don't believe vs making claims you are ignorant about.
Yes I am speculating and arm chair psychonalyzing heavily, and I would love to be wrong. But we've seen so many similar types of her in the past couple years spouting similar things; its hard to give her the benefit of the doubt here.

There's maybe nuance and room for cutting back on something, even music, if its making you feel worse. fine. But the level these people take it, it would easily make me an anxious wreck all the time if i were to follow their advice and always be wondering about what im listening to. I have enough, real world problems to focus on. And I want to be resilient. If something as benign as music is really hurting me that much, then i'm not resilient enough clearly. And I dont think ill ever stop viewing the world that way. That I'd rather be able to handle and face things.

Their premise about about the "demonic" nature of this music and the power it can have over people is based on the idea that literal demons will literally spread a curse from music to the people who hear it AND that this is a big, big problem. Bigger than actual sins being committed (like CSA or genocide), bigger than real trauma people experience. This crap infuriates me as a Christian. It takes the focus off of real evil people doing real evil things and keeps Christians preoccupied so they don't focus on doing good themselves to create justice and healing.

I agree with what you said God is more powerful than anything we do we may have consequences but God still covers us in ways we can never truly understand ❤ our world should be filled with God honoring activities and things as the first commandment is to love him with all out hearts and minds and souls and strength so that would mean in everything He is at the forefront of our daily lives… this doesn’t mean we can’t do things for ourselves but we do need to analyze our intentions behind certain actions and things we do it’s a lot of reflection and prayer to be given opportunities to point people to God, God maybe using you in certain areas to bring people to himself so you going to TS concerts may be just putting you in a situation to be the good samaritan who knows but in whatever we do we should be actively looking for ways to serve and point people to the love of God through our actions ❤

Umm am I the ONLY PERSON wondering how come Paul is so knowledgeable of the names and approximately how recently songs by Taylor came out? I mean if she’s not a “safe Christian” Artist then how come he’s soo knowledgeable about her? Seems odd to me.

It feels like they want people to just stop being human. Like you said, not every aspect of your life functions as an act of worship.
My biggest issue is that all of this comes from a place of judgement and for not even justifiable reasons. I really wonder what their intentions are. If they’re hoping to promote christianity this content is only going to do the opposite?Making people feel bad for listening to music? I’ve heard people say that music saved their life, I’d be shocked to hear someone say “music led me down a dark path”. Heck, even studies show that metal heads tend to be happier than others.
I always really appreciate your insight. I feel like the Christianity you promote is rational, non divisive and not judgemental. So many Christians have strict ideas on what makes a person worthy and likable and it “others” so many people which is sad because it’s steering them away from living a life of love.
I’d love to hear more takes from you on what you believe as a Christian and how you approach situations or live your life apart from reaction videos. I think that would be really nice!
My win for the week: Being good at my job and getting feedback that validated that for me.

*Please* do a video looking into Angela Ucci. She’s a former yoga teacher who found Jesus (at least, apparently, ya know) who says Taylor Swift is demonic and doing yoga invites demons and all sorts of wackadoodle things. Would love to hear your thoughts on that!!

They really know nothing about mental health issues. Music in general is sometimes a relief. They come off as immature, children have more maturity than they seem to show. I really dislike people who live by the 'these are my views and everyone should follow them' and do not deviate. It comes off as disingenuous to the bible that they claim to follow as they seem to pick and choose what to follow and what not to follow.

I wonder if they believe that people can get overstimulated because that's what the Taylor Swift concert goers zoning out sounds like to me. I went to an open air performance of Beauty and the Beast this last summer. It was so much fun, I was super excited. However, I was in nice clothes, I was full from dinner, it was 90 degrees, my husband and I had taken a million photos, and I was soooo excited to see the play. I was so stimulated and so happy that I actually dissociated for the first half of the play, I don't remember it at all. During intermission, I got myself a water, splashed my face, and cooled down a little, so I was able to understand and enjoy the second half. It doesn't mean there was witchcraft or anything nefarious going on in the play, it just means that there was a lot going on and my brain kind of zoned out on me. The same happens with people on their wedding day. So many people are just so happy, going on adrenaline, there's a lot going on, and they forget half of it. My wedding felt like a whirlwind, even though I absolutely loved it. I wish Brittany would consider that before she tries to claim that people left the concert in a trance.

brittany is also absolutely wrong about the origins/meaning of the word "entertainment". its not "ENTER-tainment". the word comes from the world "entretenir" which is old french for maintain/keep up. it is referring to maintaining a certain state of mind or keeping one/oneself happy. brittany seems to love asserting passing thoughts she has as absolute fact and then drawing secondary conclusions from that. dangerous stuff. good video! I really enjoy your content!

Her fake linguistics drive me nuts. It also has some really weird implications for how to interpret the bible? Because even if entertainment had developed the way she thinks it did.... This is not a thing you can apply to all translations of the bible. It does not work with german (my native language), i suspect it doesnt work with hebrew, greek or latin. It is an Interpretation that relies on linguistoc quirks of the english language.
Which is honestly why i find literalism so frustrating. She is either saying that her specific english translation of the bible is the "true" form, and all otherw should be disregarded. Or she doesnt realize that its a translation. Shouldnt your Interpretation of a religion text be working in every (or at least most) rendition of said text?

I really enjoy your videos but this one we are on the same page on practically everything so far.
-totally agree that i put Bdawn in the older category than Paul + Morgen and am shocked he's older than me.
-"don't care for Satan" me to girl.
    - your face 13:30 when Bdawn starts making up "entertainment" was my face as well!
Looking forward to hearing your perspective on the rest of the video!

I don't even think Brittany believes in what she's saying. Also it's sad that Morgan (someone who's experienced depression) is saying "you're depressed because of the music you're listening to." Sadly I think Morgan (and Paul) really believe what they are saying. Brittany on the other hand is just a grifter which is terrible and her rhetoric is harmful but she's just trying to have the public think she's changed from her scamming ways.
