What beautiful, clean sound. And I'm a sucker for songs that combine romantic wistfulness with a fox trot tempo. Thank you!

Yes, it's noticeable, but being a favourite of mine (I posted the fully vocal), I may have just sat back, enjoyed the music & overlooked it. I think the engineer, listening on his monitor, felt the pianist needed a lift & it does improve things, tho' its clear that the other instruments get that lift too. How far off were mixer desks in 1929? I have a great interest in 'ghost sounds' not uncommon on acoustic recordings, but with the introduction of electrics, studios would soon learn that sterile conditions were essential, the microphone missing nothing! That said, someone is heard to say "Stop!" at the end of the outro on this recording: ua-cam.com/video/xMYuqsRWd7M/v-deo.htmlsi=zenbdEyZeVICgQXp "Stop!" can also be heard at the end of the intro, tho' it is somewhat less clear.

That is very interesting! On some electrical recordings for instance, one Coon-Sanders record, I can't remember which one right now, has what sounds like foot tapping to count off the band before the playing starts. Some US Crown records from the early 1930's have a faint buzz sound before the playing starts, a signal for the leader to start the band?

@@JoeMarx1929 Not come across that, but sounds reasonable. On acoustic records, have heard faint counting in, tapping beats & sometimes a voiced: "Ready!" or "Go!" as a start cue. Shuffling, muffled conversation or putting down of instruments can sometimes be heard in the final grooves. All sadly too faint to be heard on my postings, until I found this one in which the singer enquires: "What did they think?" at the end of the performance: ua-cam.com/video/MUi6w0vzS7U/v-deo.htmlsi=gCarhi1eJ7m_XKqe
