This was my dream when I owned my 3 sedan
right, i have a 2.0 skyactiv :/. Im still putting headers and a tune on it though lol
RoastedHamLLC careful the skyactivs are weird, they dont take to mods so kindly like the other 2.0 base, 2.3 and 2.5.
I'm picking one up today no joke bro
I would love this in my 2.0L Mazda 6 sportbreak from 2009. Would love to add a bit more torque and hp to it. Add some coilovers too.
That’s fire 🔥 can’t wait to swap the 2.5T in my 05Mazda6s
What transmission are you gonna run?
nice Video, I am about to start a 2004 Mazda 3 sedan 2.5 Swap build and going to boost, pretty much same path
how did it go?
Loved seeing this. My MZ3 5 speed is on the way out and I’m very close to buying a blown MS3 and harvesting the 6 speed transmission and turbo bits for my 2.5 swapped 08 Mazda 3. Seeing him run 10psi reliably is reassuring too.
You can also run more! I've seen 12psi a stable amount in these builds.
@@ColtonRichter Hey how does the speed3 trans fit into a 2nd gen skyactiv? Is that the closest trans that can handle 400hp? I'm trying to be the first one to get to 350-400 on a sky 2.0 with a supercharger haha
@@Dyl_Cam Far out that's quite the challenge. Good luck tho, how much power are you currently making? I've always wondered what the 2.0 was capable of.
You should definitely make more mazda vids! I'm in the process of going turbo in my 2.5 as well! Great Content!
vFatalSpartan how much are u spending?
@@gerrit8350 I looked into getting my 2010 m3 2.5 turbocharged. It was a lot of work but more than that the cost would have been around 5000 if I rushed it and 6000 if I did it right with a new manifold from.
@@chandlertilton2427 damn. I’m looking into buying the car right now, and thought of doing the same. Do you find that price not worth it for the car?
@@kingofpilgrims368 honestly I love the platform of the 3 really cool body style the only problem is the 2.5 motor itself.. it's just not good to boost. Part availability for the engine components is pretty minimalistic compared to something like a Honda motor... I'm going to be custom fabricating a Mazda 3 inspired tubular chassis and I'm not 100% sure on what kind of motor I want to put in it but it won't be the 2.5... my buddy spent $4,000 to get his motor built by Ford performance and only ended up making 60 more horsepower... And the the 2.5 STILL couldn't handle being boosted
One of the Finest sorted Turbo 3s I’ve ever seen, Very Nice!
I like that top floor parking building, you should find that building in Vice city, jump off of it, just for fun don’t forget, the car I’ll just bounce around then either go fix it at the paint shop or car jack another one.
😂😂😅
Really appreciate all the videos you make man, just out of curiosity, was he running 14lbs on stock internals? I'm starting a supercharged 2.5 swap into my 08.5 sedan, I'm probably going to beef up the internals a bit anyway but I just wanted to know what he was running.
Correct, stock internals are capable around 300+
Hopefully I can do this with my sedan someday
Great video I have a 2008 Mazda three hatchback 2.3 and I’ve been wondering what I need to do to swap it to a bigger engine.
I have a 09 3 sedan I can’t wait to start doing this stuff
Yay!
i do have a 2.5L intake manifold from i believe a fusion or an escape. cant remember but very similar with some custom work. Vacuum solenoids ports for the sensors need to be ADDED to the body of the intake as well as a custom plate for 2.3L throttle body. Nothing crazy was a pretty straight forward swap with little resources.
very nice to know, thank you for all your hard work. very hard finding anyone doing this with a 2.5 mazda. ive been debating how to go turbo with my 2.5 mazda 6. you've given me inspiration. one question, hows the transmition holding up? how much hp can i go without upgrading it?
Speed 3 transmissions can normally hold up 400hp, clutch would need an upgrade though.
Cork sports is your friend, enemy.
Dude this is so sick. If I ever find a cheap donor MS3, I’m definitely swapping some stuff into my 2nd gen 3 sedan.
Project Chimera;
1992 Mazda MX3 gs, Mazdaspeed 6 transmission, custom Drive shaft, rear diff with rear subframe and components from 1988 Mazda 323 gtx, the V8 out of the 1999 Ford Taurus SHO 3.4 l quad cam 32 valve V8. At the bare minimal I could make it front wheel drive with either the five-speed or 6-speed since from what I understand it will bolt up to those Transmissions along with the mtx75 out of the Contour. You can also do something crazy and use the mtx75 Contours differential which is a 4.06 to one final drive instead of the 3.6. Due to the drivetrain using shift cables I might be able to fit the drive shaft between the Center tunnel of the car. The electronic limited slip uses a 5 volt signal which I think could be regulated with a adjustable 5 volt signal hooked up to a map sensor on the engine. Madness I tell you! Madness! By the way the car I want to fix up looks like the one in my profile pic but has orange racing stripes. Like Speed Racer. Was supposed to be 24 lemons racer but I rescued it before they could put a roll cage in it. Lol.
Wow a lot of mods and really awesome performance modification that I didn't even know would be possible!!!Any input so as to add more power to a stock 2.0 naturally aspirated engine sedan 2011 like mine ?? Cheers really great vid !!!
I have a video that lists off every single thing you can do to increase performance to those motors!
This is sweet
This is my dream with my 2.0i.
Dream big, play harder!
I did the swap with my 04.. yes it def is more work.
Yep!
Very nice. Finally got my 2012 Mazda 6 2.5 boosted last week. It's cool that other people are finally getting around to boosting their 2.5.

@@project2ndgenspeed672 I'm looking into doing the same on my GH wagon! Curious to what you did regarding ECU/tuning? I can't imagine the Speed3/MPS ECU would work due to the DISI? Thanks in advance for any help
@@afx31_ awesome! I went through a remote tuner to tune the ECU via mazdaedit. You're correct about the DISI ECU, it would not work without transferring pretty much everything out of a speed which is not worth the trouble imo(the stock 2.5 ECU works just fine for lower boost and for high boost you could use a standalone if it was necessary(a standalone would be much cheaper and easier than a full DISI swap)).
I used a speed3 TB instead of the 2.3 one in my swap. I can’t wait to turbo build mine. I see that Drtuned sticker. I’m tuned by him as well NA on 93.
You've had that 2.5 for awhile now eh?
@@ColtonRichter Almost 2yrs next year January. I didn't get tuned till this past summer. It definitely pulls harder than the 2.3 NA. It has also been more reliable.
Of course
I'm looking to swap a 2.5 in my Mazda 3 daily bc I just blew the 2.3, but I really don't think I'd recommend turboing it. An all motor k24 makes more power than this turboed, and it won't be super cheap or easy to turbo this car anyways.
@@dkis8730 it’s really easy to turbo the 2.5 and make safe reliable power? I have plenty of friends who have done and road course their vehicles. A k-swap might be “easier” but it all depends on your goals.
What turbo manifold did he use? The 2.3 log manifold?

Good afternoon friend, question, you had to lower the compression of the engine to be able to install the turbo. I have a Mazda 3 2.5L and I am going to add a turbo to 8 psi and I wanted to know to prevent it from bursting.
Hello, how are you? I am from Kuwait. I have a Mazda 3 hatchback. 2008 The car's engine is 1.6 and I want to put 2.5 and most of the workers tell me they cannot. Is there a transfer please benefit and what parts do I need, thank you

Hello whats a good cold air intake to buy for my mazda 3 2.5 2010
All brands basically make the same thing, take a look at CarID.com.
So I have a 2011 mazda 3 and I was wondering where i could find a turbo manifold that fits onto it. If there is any website or just something I could look up and find that would be so much help
Hello! I have a 2017 Mazda 3 2.0L I4 Engine, I am looking for a turbo kit that fits my car. Have any suggestions??
Nothing available yet!
What’s the top speed after the tune? I turbocharged my but haven’t tuned it yet. How should I go about doing it?
Top speed is limited by the govenor and then the gearing if the governor is removed.
I’m trying to turbo my 2.5 but I can’t find a turbo exhaust manifold for the life of me. Can u link the eBay one you used?
Hi mi name is Juan How did you get your computer to recognize the turbo? Or you change?
Hi Colton ,I have a 06 mz3 with a blown 2.3 in it and am ready to pick up a 2.5 duratec from a ford fusion. Could you see if Arseny knows whether or not the 2.5l motor from a 2013-2016 fusion works? Considering they are still Duratec and not ecoboost motors. I'm seeing guys use motors from 2010-2012 fords and up to 2011 mazdas all the time but cant find anything on the 2013-2016 ford motor. Thanks man
Have a read through forums or DM him, there's also Facebook groups that are all about the 2.5 swaps!
We are getting ready to do this on my son's car what/who did you use for the tuning??? Its a 06 Mazda 6.
DRTuned
Honestly you don't even need a 2.3 mzr for the 2.5 swap. As a whole, the 2.5 duratec is capable of handling a turbo and as much as 500hp; unless you're running an automatic transmission, I wouldn't push too far past 350hp.
- You'll need to tap into the oil pan (as high up and to the left of the drain plug as possible, clearance issues in oil pan right side) for the oil drain, install an oil cooler sandwich plate for turbo oil feed.
- Install an aftermarket pcv plate along with a good quality baffled catch can (no eBay cheapies or you'll be leaking oil everywhere) in most cases you don't need a vented can unless you're pushing 350hp or more.
- Purchase a Mazdaspeed 6/3 turbo exhaust manifold/downpipe. If you don't have the hood clearance like with the speeds, you can run the turbo intercooler feed underneath the motor like Ford does with newer vehicles. The top mount still looks sick if you can get it to fit but running underneath will increase thermal efficiency.
- Whichever route you go, I recommend wrapping all of the intake/intercooler piping with gold reflective tape because it reflects up to 75% of ambient heat, keeping your intake/engine temps down.
- You will need an mzr cylinder head to run direct injection, this may require an mzr 2.3 oil pan, valve cover and intake manifold.
- I recommend port injection because it's more efficient, reliable and cheaper if you don't already have the 2.3 donor parts.
- Most importantly, check out car-part.com before going to whatever scrap yard to buy your 2.5, I had a yard quote me $500 bucks for a full 2.5 assembly but I found mine for $175 on the website listed above. Good luck y'all and have fun with it!
Any questions? Leave a reply, I'm currently in the middle of swapping my 1st Gen Speed 6 so I'm always here to help.
Good write up!
Hi I have a 07 sedan with a 2011 2.0 engine 5 speed manual with a aftermarket clutch and I kinda wanna turbo my car, for exhaust manifolds can I use cx7/ speed exhaust manifolds or a manifold from a transverse mounted ecoboost ie an escape ? Can I just run a t connector on between my throttle body and airbox to run boost pipe into, can I get factory ecu flashed and tuned for a turbo I'm looking to do this for cheap as possible with out it being completely garbage mickey moused together, not looking to run a lot of boost probably around 4.5-5 psi what's recommended for a decent cheaper front mount
As a whole?? As in a regular 3 trans can handle 500hp? That can't be right
For the shift cables he talked about using shift cables from a 2011 Mazda 3 2.5. He didn’t specify if he got the cables from the 5 speed or the 6 speed model Mazda 3 does it make a difference on what cables I get?
I know this is a 3 year old post, but what I'm curious mostly about is the tuning. I tune a lot of GM stuff using HP Tuners. I have an 06 Mazda 6 with a 2.3L and 5 speed trans. I'm very capable of building a turbo setup for the engine and i was thinking of running 5 or 6psi of boost, but my biggest obstacle is tuning. HP tuners does not support the 06 naturally aspirated ECM. I'm sure there are other tuning platforms that can, or maybe it's even possible for me to switch the ECM out to an 07 or 08 year. Not sure yet. So how did you go about getting it tuned? There's no way in hell i would even consider running it without a tune lol
He went with DRTuned
hey i already have a 2012 mazda 3 2.5 and was thinking of boosting it. i’m trying to find a complete kit for it but can’t so i guess i’ll have to part it out...i just can’t find everything i need

I’ve got a 2014 Mazda 3 sp with a stock 2.5l 5 cylinder producing 185. The car’s bone stock but was thinking of paying someone to slap a turbo on her. What do you recommend doing first so she’ll be able to handle the power?
It`ll handle it, if it`s a manual. Check up on some forums, it's a heavily supported topic.

A misfire in cylinder means the motor is shot? It's a simple fix lol
Delaney 12 I think he means motor lost compression in cylinder 3
He meant compression lost, he mentioned he said it wrong after we uploaded and I didn't catch it while editing 😅
It’s cheaper to put a new motor in then fixing that but if you can do it your self then it would be worth it

Eh, it's getting to the point where you should save and get something else. All up to you!

I have a 2010 Mazda 3 Hatch 2.5L stock with a K&N intake. What could I do to boost power besides a tune?

@@adrenalewie8135 I swapped my 2011 2.5 auto hatch to a 6 speed manual. It's not as bad as you think. About $2k USD in parts though (that includes transmission) clutch pedal assembly already has holes on the firewall you can drill through, just gotta pull the auto, get different trans mount for the 6 speed, route the shift cables, put in the shift cable box, mount clutch pedal, move some wiring around and get a flywheel and clutch kit and new axles. You can run a slave cylinder line from the brake master cylinder and other than that it wasn't too bad. Only problem is that you need to switch ECU's if you want your gauge cluster to not have CEL/AT light.

Stock fuel injectors on a turbo?
You need to upgrade them.
Depending on the psi you’re pushing you’ll need to upgrade them a good amount. I read some members are using 2000cc injectors to push 16+psi
@@jungeezy for the 2.5 550cc injectors are more than enough for the stock block. 1000-2000cc would be for much more power, like more power than the stock 2.5 sleeves can handle. I know of maybe 1 or 2 people with that much power.
I have a 2012 skyactiv that I want to swap the 2.5 in since that seems easier considering this year had the 2.5 variation if I'm not mistaken. And before you ms3 lovers comment I don't like hatchbacks so I'd like the power in the sedan
I won't be that guy, but depending on the process of your build you would save SO much time buying a 2nd Gen sedan already with a 2.5 mated to a 6spd!
@@ColtonRichter well I'd like to just to do it and say I did. And it'll be a long time till I do it as my current gen 2 is lowish miles @118k
how can i turbo my 2009 mazda 6 sedan 2.5L dohc 16v??
Check out some forums and Facebook groups!
So is this a speed three cuz that's what I plan on getting
No, the one in the background is. Do a little research on your cars, the one featured in the video is just a Mazda 3.
@@ColtonRichter should have been specific all u said was Mazda 3 nobody wants the three they want the speed three
