No need for raised beds to save the bending over with that one is there? Thought you’d appreciate the silly mistake. I thought of another one afterwards… can’t remember now though. 😂
Hope you have a fab week

Hi Clare! Thank you so much for the mention, so kind of you. Love the new name and I am looking forward to see more of the farm and all your gardens, great idea! The updated logo is brilliant! Everything is growing beautifully! Glad to see the cardoon seeds are doing well for you! Love your greenhouses! I really hope to find one on Facebook market one day! I just love the transparency of the glass compared to the opaqueness of the polytunnel. Your grow cage is fantastic! 😘💕🌸

It was such a highlight of a video, largely due to how polite your mum was being. You could tell she was thinking it wasn’t right but didn’t want to upset you (especially on camera). Just so wholesome and brilliant humour too. You’re so lovely ❤️
I’m really pleased the feedback has been so positive. It’s taken me months to get around to it, as I kept flitting over it in my mind.

We call strawflowers -paper daisies here. I grew quite a few of them and they are just beautiful I have saved so many seeds from them. I must try and plant some to see if I can germinate them too. Love the name of your new channel. Sometimes we have to tweak things along our youtube journey. Good luck 😀😀👍👍🦘🦘🩷🤗🤗

Wow the greenhouse is absolutely stuffed with things ❤❤. Omg that was a hilarious video her poor mom 😂. I never realized how delicious strawberries 🍓 were off the vine instead of the store so I’m growing way more. Yes but Iz does awesome designs for the garden so kudos there 👍👍. What a wonderful overview of the farm Clare 😊.
You have done a fantastic job Clare and Sir Duncan of the Shorts plus the lovely Iz the family creator. Have a stupendous weekend and I hope Kathleen passes you by ❤, Ali

The greenhouse is overflowing isn’t it? You should see how much my sister has packed in to hers this weekend too. Impressive levels of Tetris happening here. 😂
I love strawberries and super fresh are extra delicious. They were tasty from the greenhouse last year too. I may need more yet too!
Love the designs. Isobel is currently tasked with changing the banner for UA-cam.
We have enjoyed the whole process of creating the plot and are keen to incorporate more of the home gardens and also turning our attention to projects on the garden too. He’s still in shorts… diehard.
Very windy here. Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend there too Ali. ❤️

It’s early days for wanting to get on board some of the stewardship schemes, but we are evolving. Really want to pay some attention to protecting the wildlife and waterfowl on the various ponds we have here and introducing a more diverse flora and fauna to those areas, further encouraging new wildlife to move in.
Some of the ponds are plagued by Canada Geese but the more sheltered ponds could be teaming with even more wildlife with some changes.
Trees are on the agenda, new hedging to fill in some gaps too.

I was obsessed with everyone's strawflowers last year, mine look just like yours, I can't wait to see them in real life!
Your plot is one that I am really looking forward to seeing flourish as the season progresses, I think it's going going to look great and I am excited to see farm life too! Wishing you all the very best with The Farmyard Garden 🍀💚 🍀xx

Thank you so much Laura (and for letting me bend your ear the other day, appreciate that).
I’m so impatient for the straw flowers to look like they may be a success because I’m also obsessed with them! I was debating direct sowing some later in the season, as it does say to scatter sow where they’re intended to grow. Worth a try.
I am equally as excited to see your allotment and the tiny garden through this growing season, in particular how the new growing space changes (if at all) how you grow at home.
I love the new name. It just feels so right now ❤️

Lovely tour and Q&A Clare. I really liked your old name, I thought it was very witty but I like your new name too and look forward to seeing your other gardens and farmyard. If your grapevine has a spare side shoot you can afford to lose then break it off and if there is some green in the cumbrian layer the vine will still be good. Take care 😊

      @TheFarmyardGarden  6 місяців тому

I liked the name too but it just didn’t seem to quite fit. My vegetable garden will still have The Veg Plot Thickens signs around it, an ode to the beginnings. It’s such a small grapevine I’m not sure I dare chop any bits off it. I’ll give it a bit more time yet 🙏🏻

Great Q&A Clare and garden/polytunnel and greenhouse tour.❤ Sunflowers are doing great and better than mine 😂 good luck with the sunflower challenge/grow along. I like procrastinating on housework too by using the allotment excuse 😂 Shame about your wood chip, we love it too but birds seem to leave it alone and potter around in the soil. Fabulous having a record via UA-cam to look back on isn't it. So lovely to have viewers that enjoy watching our vlogs too. Love your new channel name ❤

Procrastination of housework excuses are the best! 🙌🏼😂❤️
I didn’t realise until I watched it back that I hadn’t put your name overlaid on the screen, just in the description below the video. Sorry about that. There were a lot to add and I think I got carried away looking for the question askers.
UA-cam is a great way to keep a record of achievements and the journey. Sometimes it’s easy for us to forget the changes we’ve made. I tend to live impulsively in the here and now. It’s great for me to have those reminders.
I’m really happy with the channel name. Thank you. Here’s hoping we all get a decent sunflower to enjoy. I hope we do! ❤️❤️

My grape vine has only just started to show buds this week and it’s inside my poly tunnel so I would think that you should start seeing signs soon as we are basically in the same area.
Your parsnips have taken off really well. I have a few shoots showing for mine, which were planted at the same time. Well I’m hoping they are parsnips not weeds 🤣.
When your bocking 14 arrives allow a large area for it to grow in as they grow enormous. Ours get to around 3ft in diameter
and well over 6 ft high.
Also if you divide the root you will be able to get more plants. We cut our root into three pieces and each one grew amazingly well. If yours don’t arrive let me know and I’ll send you a roof cutting.

I came across your channel on your 3rd / 4th video so from the beginning. I haven't been keeping up the last few months. I suppose the question I have, had you got experience in growing before you started utube. Gardening starting off is expensive especially the amount of raised beds fruit cage polytunnel ect you put in right away. Had you been putting money aside to set up the garden. The allotment and garden videos I watch the utubers started from strach and it's taken them years to build their gardens and when I look back on their videos its amazing how over the years how their gardens / allotment have changed. You went in building everything at once over a very short time. That's why I'm thinking you must have loved growing and had experience before utube.

I think my garden is an outward sign of my “all in” mentality. Whether that’s some undiagnosed neuro diverse trait or not, I don’t know. But it’s me… sometimes a blessing and sometimes a curse.
We live a pretty simple life here, with little social outlets, so naturally we are quite resourceful with savings. We always say we’re saving for the next project… we just don’t always know what the next project will be.
In this instance, it was Duncan which pushed more to extend the plot in to the paddock and get all in the infrastructure in from the off. Having the resources to be able to organise that financially and physically, just meant saving time and money in the long run to re-organise the space.
I’m reassured it’ll pay for itself in 2.5 years (ish). We shall see!
Thanks for commenting. There’s no right or wrong way to me. Building slowly, or going all in.. it’s all a journey. We’re all unique. I’ve always had a garden but growing vegetables is new to me. We used to suffer with a big rat problem on the farm, so that put me off growing my own food. With some changes to how feed is stored, that problem has seriously reduced, so it felt time to try it.
      Happy gardening ❤️❤️
