MAJOR CORRECTION! the confession scene is indeed in fact in the game, I was wrong. Like majorly wrong. Ignore everything I said at the ending of the video! It wasn't in the "In water" ending but instead in a separate ending! this is why I got confused and assumed it was removed. THIS IS WRONG! im glad this is still in the game since it's one of the most emotional scenes in the game! I apologise for my ignorance! I have trimmed out the part where I said the confession scene was removed. this isn't true at all and i don't want to spread misinformation lol, my bad! TL;DR: I'm not saying the remake is bad. I loved a lot about it and thought Bloober improved almost every aspect about it. I just was not a fan of the overall presentation of the story. That's it... I’m not trying to argue that Bloober should have copied the OG cutscenes exactly. That isn’t my point, i expected the game to be different with their cutscenes and I wasn’t expecting the voice acting to have the original feel since that would feel forced. I state in the video that i respect Bloober for having a different approach and that I liked some of the cutscenes a lot. Especially the one in heavens night. But this doesn’t mean I have to like the overall presentation of the story. Some of it was good, some not so much. But at the end of the day this is just my opinion. Don’t let it sway you away from enjoying the game. I’m just happy to have more Silent Hill ❤
I completely agree with the vibe your talking about. I came out of watching the game feeling like most of the cutscenes weren't as impactful as the original. There was only a few where I felt they nailed it. It doesn't mean it's bad, it's just a little disappointing.
I want to mention a small detail in the new music in Eddie's first scene. It does bang, but it's when James denies Eddie's wish to escape the town with him. I like to interprete it as Eddie being offended by James and the start to his spiraling madness, because in the very next scene, in the cinema, he becomes insecure by James presence.
@@Kazaonyt it's fine to correct yourself for something u got wrong but don't be such a pussy man c'mon. It seems you're terribly afraid of the reddit hype-mob.
@@ssasdddddt I didn’t cave into anything. I was telling people the confession scene was removed from the game which is completely wrong. Only two people corrected me for that. There is no Reddit mob lol
James is not calm about eddie in the prison canteen, he is just trying to manage and not upset Eddie. Is clear. He is terrified but James is just way more socially intelligent in this remake.
I really liked the remake although I agree that some scenes don't have the same impact. I was especially looking forward to the scene with Maria behind bars and this one was so disappointing. The original like you said was way creepier. Just the way the lines are delivered and her eyes are obscured ; it burned this scene into my mind. Damn shame this was a miss as it's my favourite scene in the series
@@erik-bm4po despite my criticisms I think the game is great. Some people are thinking I hate the game or something even though I talk a lot of good about it lol Guessing they didn’t watch the video or something. Which is super frustrating.
People didn't believe that mary's body was in james' car due to her being carried away, but because of the sh2 novel. In the novel after James leaves the hotel, he goes straight back to the highway and picks up her body from the trunk of the car. He then sets her in the passenger's seat and drives into the lake.
Regarding "Bloober answering too many questions": I think answering and explaining too much is a big issue in western writing in general at the moment. The plethora of "Villain origin story" movies that over-explain why these perfectly good villains actually just were misunderstood people. Or take the videogame "Control" for instance, which builds a beautiful Lynchian world of perplexities only to quickly explain pretty much all its central mysteries away into "slightly strange science fiction". Where Japanese media often answers too few questions, i feel that western media has become too comfortable with explaining just about everything.
To me in the remake, it feels like Eddie plays more the role of the victim on purpose to make you feel sorry for him, but in reality, he’s just manipulating you. He uses that victim role to justify his actions, like it’s okay to hurt people. It’s almost like he's in denial, convincing himself that everything he’s doing is fine.
@@darthvaderthegamecat You should play the original. The Enhanced Edition fixes all its issues and makes it run at 60 fps with no stutters on pretty much any PC
A lot of parts dragged on way to long with the small amount of enemy variety. Like the prison level was way to long. It lost a lot of atmosphere with hordes of enemies coming at you. Eddies new VA did a pretty good job. Laura was alright. I just can't get behind the others. I am sure the new VAs are really good in actuality, but the direction is just not there I think. Angela sounds like she took one too many Benadryl before going to SH. James just sound sad and tired. Not numb, and slightly unhinged like in the OG. Maria just feels flat at all times. OG Maria had ups and downs. Seductive, caring, then angry, then back to normal. They changes in dialog was a real shame. On the other hand the additions outside of the OG cutscenes where pretty nice. It was ok/10
I feel like the thing they got wrong with Maria in the remake was omitting that kind of evil seductiveness she has in the original. I remember reading somewhere that the developers intended for the player to be constantly switching between trusting her and feeling threatened by her while also being mesmerised, exactly like James himself would feel, and I think both the voice acting and her facial expressions (particularly her smile) in the original hit that absolutely perfectly. Remake she just comes across as obviously and unambiguously evil, all the nuance and subtlety is gone.
@@dragonmage7980 overreliance on remakes stifles creativity within the industry and prevents original storytelling from flourishing the remake is not a good game the positive hype is designed to manipulate the casual audience to support the consumer based Market won't be buying this.
@@derekb4977 Woke stuff aside ( even though there is plenty of it ) the third person view, the endless multitudes of monsters you have to kill and the swelling of locations to giant/empty proportions kills the game. I haven't cared about graphics in years, so there's nothing to spend $70 on. Too bad
Been loving the remake so far but 18:45 was my biggest "complaint". Maria's pause to process what James just said to her *really* adds so much to the scene and without it it feels disingenuous. The performance is fine but the pause was crucial, though I wholeheartedly agree about the dreaminess feeling absent.
To me the cinematic direction is the overall problem. It feels too modernized and westernized, like an albeit good Hollywood remake of a lower budget horror film. The story is the same, the beats are the same, it's technically well made and competent, but the subtlety and soft psychological manipulation by the direction is gone. The visionary cinematography is gone. The grit and dirtiness is gone. The character feels absent. The voice acting isn't bad, it's just directed as if it's a straight forward horror movie. There's no dreaminess, no otherworldliness to the line delivery, there's so much more telling and not enough showing. So much went into visually impressive facial animations but it's not put to any thematic use. The original games had much more attention to body language and use of animation to convey the characters' mental instability whereas in the remake it's just outright told through dialogue. James in the original was clearly "off" from the beginning, in the remake they seemed to go out of their way to present him as an average, likeable guy, I'm assuming so the ending comes as more of a surprise to new players but it makes that revelation fall kind of flat thematically. If other people like it that's just fine but to me there's really nothing this game does to set itself apart technically from any other modern horror game and the story isn't presented as well as it was 20 years ago.
The thing with this remake for me is basically what dead space remake did, the story is the same and all that but the vibe is different, some people will like the new vibe more, some wont, and that's okay since the remake can totally stand on its feet. I personally think some cutscenes don't hit as hard as the OG, but its not because its bad, its because of execution. RE4 remake seems to also have this compared to the OG, its a great remake but it doesn't have the same vibe, some people may like it, some people don't
@@betlergaen5757 exactly. Some will like the change in vibe. I just wasn’t as much of a fan of it. Still really enjoy the game and I’m trying to get all the endings now. Some people jumped to the conclusion I hated the game and clearly didn’t watch the video lol
@@Kazaonytyeah, nowadays is either love or hate something, you can't love but prefer things from the OG. In regards to eddie tho, i liked how they switched things around to make him seem innocent at first and then showcase how he takes everything james says to heart (like when he puts the bucket down because james said he didnt lost his appetite), even holding grudges. It showcases well his insecurities and that he has more than just being a regular guy. I will say i prefer his og design as its more "normal" but his design on this game isn't bad, it brings out how much he probably suffers from the bullying and all that, but he also looks a bit more odd, which can make him seem more crazy. The prision scene i also prefer the OG but with the changes they presented, james also seemed to me as he wanted eddie to calm down since he was extremely volatile, eddie in this scene also is much less crazy in the sense of liking to do it, but more of delusional, a warped sense of right or wrong, you can see it because where eddie in the og expressed laughs or "light heartedness" he expresses anger and confusion. James in the prision is being careful but maybe sees eddie as susceptible given how he was presented and tried to calm him by reasoning with him. Its what i see about it tho, and my opinion. Im just really glad Silent Hill is back with an actual good game that do the OG justice. I may think some of the cutscenes doesnt have the same impact as the OG, but to someone who never played it, i can see this game being what the OG was for the people that played it for the first time. Sorry for my ramblings, and sorry if anything got confusing, english is not my native language
@@betlergaen5757 I much prefer the OG Eddie. I’ve made a video breaking down why I think he’s the most terrifying character in the franchise. It’s to do with how he’s presented to the us and why he creates suspicion and tension in his cutscenes. This is something the remake lacked, which kinda blows
@@Kazaonytyeah i can see it and actually prefer him on the OG as well (your video about him is great btw), but even if i do prefer him i think they did a good job with him. What i like in the remake tho is how they compromised with the voice acting being more professional but still bringing the weirdness of the dialogue. Every character takes their time to speak, james shows a LOT through his face, you can see him thinking and formulating an answer, and you can see how conflicted he is even if he does seem calm. I think they did maintain the weirdness of the characters, but not in the same way, i still love the vibe of the OG more tho, it has more impact overall for me but the remake isn't too far behind, its like 8/10 compared to 10/10, less impactful, but still good. Some of the things on the remake are there because they were confirmed too, like mary being in the backseat. If im not mistaken, it was confirmed via the book and Ito too (i think it was him) so they bringing it on the remake is because of this i think (like in Dead Space remake they brought lore from 2 as well) i don't think it needed to be done but i understand why they did it
The Original didn’t need to use threatening enemies to create its horror. The original’s horror was much more long lasting and drawn out. It got it’s horror from the atmosphere the game created with the fog shrouded town and the background music creating a foreboding feeling paired with the fixed camera angle limiting your ability to see what was in front of you. At points the remake floods you with enemies to the point that you are annoyed instead of being scared, this was never the case for the original as enemies were placed much more sparsely around the map.
I mean I played Silent Hill 2 when I was 10 so my memory is shite but I remember the original being less about the combat and more about running. I remember running out of ammo so often, I had to figure out how to get around certain enemies!.!
I enjoyed my time with the remake and loved all the improvements to the game. My only real gripe is that the Mary/Maria scenes just couldn't live up to the original VA's performance, which is understandable. They could never top that original letter read, no matter how hard they tried.
Imo, you should have waited longer before making this. I understand "fans" being upset by how everyone is negative nowadays but what I have observed is that many people seemed to have reacted to this phenomenon by becoming hyper-defensive and desperately trying to shirk off any and all criticism for their favourite game. I think people just need to let the honeymoon phase pass because anyone with a nuanced take who ends their review by saying "I don't like this game" or "I LOVE this game" is crapped on by all sides. That said, I agree with your overall take. I don't think this remake replaces the original. Nowhere close to it. The original game still remains the "definitive" experience to experience what Team Silent wanted to offer to the player with Silent Hill 2. What people don't seem to understand is that SH2 was, in many ways, a "lightning in the bottle" type of game. Made by the right people, with the right mindset, at the right time. The way they leveraged the limited technology they had at the time to create SH2 is an art in and of itself. The more I think about the original, the more I'm impressed by it. Yes, it feels "inferior" in many aspects to the remake, but even those things that it doesn't do well contributed to the overall experience. I mean, just look at the Maria cutscene in the labyrinth prison room: The entire scene is enveloped in this *dingy lighting that casts deep shadows across the environment*. The light source is unidentifiable and provides minimal illumination, and it creates this high contrast between the characters and their surroundings. You also get that iconic "Chiaroscuro effect", where James and Maria's faces are partially covered with shadows, slightly. The lights also briefly flicker in intensity when Maria asks "James is something wrong?" which is also a great touch. It all feels so meticulous, how the lighting draws your attention to specific details, such as Maria’s face, the bars of the prison cell, her features; it makes her look alluring but also a bit ghostly. Then there's the beautiful *colour palette*. It's muted and desaturated, mostly dominated by grey, blue and brown; almost monochromatic. It removes any vibrance and warmth in the scene and instead enhances the bleak/coldness. Very fitting how that reflects the lifelessness of the cell and the emptiness inside James. Speaking of which, the walls are also interesting. They reflect light in an unnatural way, despite how low-key the lighting is, which adds to that sense of unreal-ness. Think about it - the way the prison walls appear in the original CG cutscene's lighting is totally unrealistic, unless the entire room is well-lit and illuminated but it doesn't feel that way at all. This is something modern tech can't achieve by itself, you would have to manually mess with all the parameters, altering each one to create this effect. Then there's the contrast between the surrounding and Maria's outfit and makeup. Her clothing especially stands out against the drab background (symbolism for James desire most likely). It draws your eyes to her. James on the other hand, while I won't say he "disappears" into the background, he blends in far more than she does. Examples like this are what create that fugue-like, dreamy, unnatural, lynchian vibe and atmosphere of the original. I could also give other examples but I've written too much so I'll wrap up my thoughts. The remake improves on so many aspects of the original. Everything is more high budget, the visuals, the audio, the controls and overall gameplay... almost everything but that the thing that makes Silent Hill 2 what it is - that atmosphere. I think the remake does an excellent job in "immersing" you in the world and the fantastic audio design once again, keeps you on your toes. And the boss fights are so much better, that's not even a question. But the vibe that made Silent Hill so distinct, that ultimately separated it from Resident Evil and helped it carve out its own niche, is just not there. And unfortunately, that is what this remake needed the most. And like I said the original game was a "lightning in a bottle" scenario. Regardless what Team Silent "intended", they had to work within the confines of their limited budget and tech to convey their ideas. They needed to think outside the box to accomplish their vision - like in the Maria cutscene I described above. Hell, even the hybrid fixed/following camera system that the original had, despite its flaws and obvious hinderance to the gameplay, created this unique cinematography that made it so special and unique. And before anyone says I'm nostalgic for the original games, know that I played the Silent Hill games for the first time in 2021. So believe me when I say I don't have rose-tinted glasses because I went in blind and the thing that attracted to the games was the incredible score by Yamaoka. Overall, I think this remake is a great AAA game that has a lot going for it and I did enjoy the time I spent with it. But I just don't think it replaces the original that so many people pledge it does.
It’s very weird Eddie didn’t get another scene. We needed another like him going to the historical society where you get to see those sinister gears turning
Fully respect your review and you're fair criticisms for this remake. I believe this remake is very similar to how re4 was handles, I like how some of the less interesting parts were made interesting, enemies can do more than one thing, no section is removed, instead it's recycled and innovated, they added new cutscenes and more puzzles galore. It's almost perfect. This remake is more than just a highly graphical version of the original.
To me the worst cutscene in the game was the Anyway scene with Maria, in the original you can see Maria’s facial expressions as she gets mad at James for confusing her with Mary, in the remake it felt odd and robotic and the vocal performance wasnt good either and they also cut the line “you dont sound very happy to see me”
It was genuinely meant to come across as "weird" and uncanny intentionally though. The developers took inspiration from David Lynch films and Jacob's Ladder, which have that "weird" voice acting and delivery too. Take a look at the Maria cage scene and the final scene with Mary in the OG. The acting is normal there where it makes sense to be.
@@ferminangelcarhuajulcaguil1196 if you are this dumb, sure; the game have a lot of good acting and some lines that sound bad; overall the acting feels good and credible enough; now compared to the netflix tier acting of the remake
My two cents: The remake does alot of great things, but the original just had a better vibe. Thats not to say that the remake doesn't do a good job, its just that the original was a work of art. The remake is just an expansion of the same story with new areas, and really engaging gameplay. I don't like what they did to the song that plays in heaven's night. The original version was dream like, but the remake version adds too much "funk" to it. It lost the dream like vibe. Overall I'm really enjoying the remake, it's a surprisingly nice recreation of the original. It's a different game that respects the original, yet gives totally new layouts and areas, with expanded lore. I was scared they were going to just copy and paste the same environment into UE5. I have the same concern with Snake Eater. Remakes shouldn't be just the same game with a new coat of paint.
I feel the same about Maria many lines where altered and she is not as unsettling as in the original which on the meeting gave me chills the first time I placed it. Also, problem with footsteps steps at the apartments in the dark made me very anxious on the original but they seem to be missing on the remake
Combat design? Silent Hill was never designed to be a combat game. Damn my fav weapon would be steel pipe too Salute you for replaying the OG. I don’t think I will play it again, I played it once and the memory will stay in my head forever. Also he deserves the In Water ending. Maybe I will do the good ending for this series
I find it kinda bizarre how much the Bloober version of Eddie is portrayed as the stereotypical pathetic looser archetype. They made him look significantly uglier, he shows less agency in dialog, he's mostly whimpering. The original felt like a young adult bully victim who snapped and gave in to the darkness he saw as redemption, mimicking Jame's self righteousness. I'm not even entirely sure what the Bloober portrayal wants to get across. Bloober Eddie comes off as a bully victim who snapped out of sheer desperation and panic. which fails to draw parallels to James.
This was my only real problem with the game myself. I think they did an incredible job with Angela. Eddie was kind of weird, but not in the way I wanted him to be
James: I was weak. That's why I needed you. Needed someone to punish me for my sins. But that's all over now. I know the truth. Now it's time to end this.
Why do you think the voice acting in the original SH2 was bad for its day? Think you mentioned it around 25:00, now the VA in SH1? That was bad. SH2 is good, even today. It was the first video game to have multiple people motion capturing and acting at the same time
Agree so much with Eddie. And another point I’d like to add, I think they went too far with Eddie’s appearance and weight in the remake for no good reason that it completely removed the normality of his character in the OG. Now he just looks like a completely crazy guy because of how obese and volatile he is that it removes a lot of the meaning his character had. I think Eddie being just a regular chubby guy who snapped due to being around cruel bullies seemed, to me at least, to emphasize how normal people all have their issues and breaking points, and can all result in them doing horrible things because that’s just how life is, But they just HAD to make him look crazy and morbidly obese from the get go in the remake. 🤦♀️ Hope this makes sense lol
Agreed. I've seen people make an argument that because of the MODERN obesity problems and fat-enabling circumstances, the "old" Eddie would've just come across as a "normal guy". Absolutely horrifying.
Yep. That's totally right. He's also constantly sweating for no apparent reason, while breathing like in a winter climax. You can see his breath even in cinema. And don;t sell me it because of the ice creams. As a psycho, he surely is, he licks them from his hand, because they are already melted. They've botched this on so many levels. Most of the inspiration take took is from the movies. How many times you can hear sirens in SH 2, and how often you hear them in reimagining? Why there's sunny weather outside hospital, when there was fog and steel sky just before entering it? Why everything is wet? Why reality, foggy and heallish Silent Hill parts appear at the same time? Why you can hear rain outside hellish hospital? After all that version of SIlent Hill lies inbetween realities, in some void. It's a separate plane on its own. There was no one in their team who understand this game. Hence the feel is not there. Everything is mixed and makes a complete mess for Silent Hill connoisseur.
the only issue I have with bloober is how they fumbled the PC port and it's taken a nexus mod to fix it, most people seem to be on console and the praise out ways the negativity. The game stutters so much it's next to un-playable, I had to just ignore it in my first playthrough and many people are experiencing the same piss poor optimisation
Great analysis. I loved playing through the remake, I was thoroughly immersed in it due to the excellent visuals and sound design. And I think the cutscenes, characters, and story are still better than the VAST majority of other modern games. But definitely something is lost compared to the original cutscenes. However, as any fan of the game knows, this is a game worth replaying multiple times. The remake gave me an excuse to replay it which I really enjoyed. And so I would just suggest to any new players who enjoyed the remake: you should also consider playing through the original PS2 version whenever you get the itch to experience the game again. It plays excellently on the PCSX2 emulator, and both versions are worthy of playing through.
I have the windows version of the original and play it with the enhanced edition. I think that’s the best way to play it. The remake is the best if you want better gameplay though. I imagine a lot of people do not like the gameplay of the original
I know I am the only one thinks this, but I liked the tank controls of the original and of games like Resident Evil. I would have loved a remake that was more of a HD refit and basically being a one to one. The remake looks good, but from what I have seen the voice acting is worse, and the camera in the originals was its own character. Here it is just sort of stunted. I think we should bring back tank controls.
The original had 2 control options and I prefer the easier controls. I think fixed camera angles is what is missing in modern survival horror games not tank controls.
Hey now! That means you would get Heather's Sailor Moon outfit in only one playthrough! Not bad.. I also never knew that James had a drinking problem in the original game, I just assumed he was super depressed, considering apparently the devs have stated its possible Mary's body was in the front passenger seat of James car the entire time. I like the new game, but I am not a huge fan of the new Maria voice acting. The original just did so much better being two different people, OG Maria is stupid charismatic and seductive.
@@Skullduggerydodo I think that’s a bit harsh. I thought she was good but it was a different vibe in my opinion. I thought some of her scenes were good, especially the heavens night one. But I prefer the dreamy version of Maria from the original. I agree though, she probably did have the hardest role right beside Angela.
The original scenes can't be replicated like you said, I did enjoyed the new cutscenes tho, that was a nice suprise tbh... Bloober did an excellent job on the added content
The idea of combat in Silent Hill was to get away from monsters. Reimagining is too much combat oriented, which takes you away from the atmosphere of inspecting the "neverworld" foggy Silent Hill truly is. In reimagining I have 20 nutritions and 20 jabs on normal difficulaty. And I feel like playing combat veteran. PS. "Maybe if I keep playing it, it might grow on me." We make a first step in brainwashing process. "Maybe it will grow on you." = you already made that your goal. "I want to believe" is a self fulfilling prophecy. PS.S. And btw, you can remake magnum opus.
On Eddie, at 25:26 I wouldn't say it confirms that and that wasn't my impression. There could be multiple fictitious people/bullies and that particular one may or may not even be the same body from his perspective, and while it still looks like James the attire is different relative to all other appearences still; and for all we know the latest bully may simply not have taken whatever offscreen warnings they may or may not have recieved. And he means being followed relatively. The kill of whatever or whoever it was (at least within the in the town itself) is confirmed, but outside of the town bar shooting someone in the knee and or a dog we don't really know. That and according to Itoh, Eddie has only killed a dog.
I thought that was a great touch as well! James' possible alcoholism and his struggle to resist taking the drink. Also, if you go behind the bar, James' head will turn toward the bottle of liquor behind the counter and you can inspect it.
Very nice attention detail. Actually blew me away that Bloober took that small bit of lore from original and incorporated it into that cutscene, it's why it's my favourite.
The monsters actively hunting you and the fog storm/chase sequences made me feel like I've shifted over into Raccoon City instead of the Silent Hill otherworld. In the original, the monsters barely gave a shit about you unless you got close. They felt like they had bigger problems than having you around. I'm not a huge fan of remake Angela's acting either. I disagree with your remark about the original protags being expert marksmen, their weapon handling is pretty amateurish in general, especially with the shotguns. Heather flails with the katana like someone trying to use it for the first time, which was probably the case in-universe anyway.
@@davidkyo1985 my point about the characters being marksman’s was more of a joke and heather using an uzi, katana and giant maul I just found funny. My point is, Silent Hill can be goofy sometimes. So I didn’t think a dodge mechanic was a big deal
Going to have to play the game a 3rd/4th time before i really know what i think of the differences for the remake, but for now, i do like the the remake, even though there are some minor thing that i prefer the original. Combat in the remake honestly i prefer as at least the enemies put a effort to put me in a bind, somebody please tell me i'm not the only one that was caught off guard of Eddie's boss fight being a bit of a spike. Some voice acting i don't mind the differences but again, will jave to replay and really pay attention to see how if feel about that. That said, one moment that i do have a small nit to pick on, the pyramid introduction, not the part of him behind the bars, but right after. Don't know why, but i prefer the original both how James reacted with shooting pyramid head and how PH was acting. I like the original more as i like that the idea PH did notice James but couldn't see through the cabinet to well hence why he pull his helmet a bit to get a better look, and whatever James saw made him panic fire at him and that actually hurt ph to run off. Remake wasn't bad, it does show ph being a terrifying force that can be shot down, but i like the original version more.
Your Eddie video is absolutely amazing and so detailed and was waiting to see your take on him . The parts they showed in the trailer i thought wow eddie is gonna be the best but the more i saw the more i was like oooh , its okay
I don't think it's for me if I'm honest. Same with the Final Fantasy (7) remakes. They just look well... like worse actual games. Clearly more to them in terms of graphics and content. Just not actually as good an experience overall. Don't get me wrong I've not bought this OR the FF remakes. Though I have bought all 3 of the Resident Evil remakes. And consider them all perfectly good games. And in fact I would consider RE1 remake (PC for me) extremely good. Quite possibly a better experience than the original at the time that came out. But RE2 and RE3 probably not.
RE1 remake was perfection, and I wish the slew of them we've had since would have kept to the same mould. They updated *specific* things like the graphics and controls just enough to improve QOL without gutting the atmosphere that made the game great originally, and everything new that was added was essentially cut concept from the original, so it fit almost seamlessly into the existing map.
It's clearly a reimagining, that takes most inspirations from movies. It doesn't portray James and his broken psyche, thanks to which we have an artificial like man in iconic mirror scene, and all that weird behaviour of his in the game. It mixes all 3 planes of existence, reality, foggy and hellish versions of Silent Hill. And because of that all the claustrophobia, that is brought from hellish SH, that lies somewhere in the void, or inbetween realites, vanishes as there is a rain outside hellish hospital windows, pointing us to the idea of reality still being out there. Also while being in hospital we have nice sunny weather outside. Just like in the film! But when Jake and Mirandola entered it, it was still foggy with a steel sky above. It has its pros, but not in a Silent Hill sense.
26:20 - that confession scene IS in the remake!! Mary is even asking James "if that's true then why are you sad now...?" The comical voices of the original SH2 are in fact making me so much more detached from the game taking place in Silent Hill. Remake voices make me (personally) feel like such dialogues could actually happen in real life. You calling James unhinged is me seeing James' voice actor as somebody who doesn't reflect real-life dialogues. He is showing more of the 'american' lines (such us SH4's "are you okay?") The fact that the camera is hinting that Mary's body was in the backseat of the car added so much more to the horror when I played it. It gave me the Silent Hill 4 vibe, of disovering Walter Sullivan body inside of your own apartment. That's something that is far better when shown! rather than left to some speculations. You also called Maria's transformation in the prison cell "very creepy". I don't see it that way. I see it as an beginner actor being given a stage (at a job interview), and being given a task to be "nice and cosy" and then "to act like a villain". There was something "cheap" about it from my perspective. It was clear to me that Maria isn't self aware of how suspicious she is being to James in that scene. Remake made Maria much less like a cartoonish villain and more like an actual woman trapped behind the bars. Now perhaps there could be some sort of a "tick" or "twitch" or something with the "uneven blinking", something with the head movement, that could have been added to that scene in the original game that could look creepy. Maybe such an idea could have been made in the remake to extend that concept of a transformation. But as for now Remake simply makes it more realistic and looks better (to me). It removed that blatant villain vibe. Sure, perhaps the remake could keep the same light of the bulb, but then how often do you see a woman in real life sitting in such an unnatural ominous spot. "I sat here just to not show you my eyes, and I will stay here to give you the trouble vibe"
@@kacperzimowski4626 the one scene where James is sitting by Mary’s bed that is absent from the in-water ending. I guess I must have skipped it… I also never said the dialogue was realistic in the original. It may sound more real in the original. But in my opinion that takes away the dream feel the original had. Which is a common thing people loved about the original game. I didn’t say prison cell was her transforming lol. I just said she switches from Mary’s personality back to Maria. This is an intentional detail and is pretty clever writing. I don’t see it as a cheap. Also, I do not see it as a woman trapped behind bars. And she’s not exactly a villain either. James is the one trapped, the whole prison cell scene was projected from James’s subconscious. Maria is tormenting as it was her purpose in the first place.
@@Kazaonyt I edited my comment a bit, to explain my point with the prison cell. Also I used "transformation" as synonym to "switching". I know you didn't mean any visual transformation.
@@Kazaonyt Also you made an interesting point about how music "hints" or "points to you" that something is trouble. (I watched many of your videos, including the one about Eddie). I kinda see it as early american comedies with a laughing track, trying to hint me that something is funny. And I'm not gonna lie, I don't think it's a good thing. The absence of music to me is working to the game's advantage in some scenes (again, only in some scenes) because it makes you judge the situtation for what it really is, based on what you see. If you want to make a remake, you need to have some different idea on how things should look like. The absence of music and absence of suggestion is perhaps why many people consider the 2019's Joker as a far better representation than Joker from the previous movies where he is unnaturally not interrupted, unnaturally given a lot of space for an unnaturally perfect speech each time. (as if rehearsed 10 times). SH2 original feels to me similarly "acted out on a stage" rather than its more human approach of the remake.
@@kacperzimowski4626 you may be right. As I did point out that i don’t blame bloober for having a different approach to the cutscenes since if they were to try and recapture the emotions from the original. It would feel forced. I only made this video to voice my opinion on how I personally thought the representation of the story felt weaker. But again, my opinion. I’m glad people are enjoying it, it’s gives me more hope for more silent hill
In the original inwater ending. James is sitting by Mary and confesses to her on why he killed her. That was absent from the remake, instead it was James sitting in his car.
Pretty much agreed on all the things. The whole deimake reeks of the SH Homecoming, with its heavy focus on combat and the view-angle that accentuates it. It's no wonder they tried to keep the old fans away from the conversation. The characters are for the most part completely ruined by the terrible modeling job and shitty acting, made worse by the amateurish cinematography. The iconic Mary/Maria prison scene, and the Angela's burning staircase scene are just lame in the new version. The original not only seems more realistic than the 2024 counterpart, but legit crafts more haunting atmosphere. The final letter reading is just insultingly bad.
I honestly feel kinda bad for people who never experienced the original and they choose to start with this remake. If they play the remake first it will completely taint their experience with the original if they choose to play it.
I haven't watched the video yet, BUT; I think the switch to over the shoulder is the biggest loss to the game. you will never get that Eerie sense of dissociation the original gave off with its amazing angles. I also think the original hand animated cutscenes were simply more jarring, in a good way. but to be fair no one will ever be fully happy with a remake. In that aspect, it's not too shabby honestly. and the fact we already have mods is amazing news for everyone. you can do anything you want with mods, De-make the game entirely I'm sure... OR make pyramid head Nazeem from Skyrim, finally able to stop asking if you get to the cloud district very often. mod support for important games is awesome.
I can understand what you saying and the feeling that this details bring to you, that doesn't mean that game isn't great but experience from original are bit different. For example i like a lot how actor plays james role he is great, but i do not like his face on james role... he got sad eyes expression by nature... james ih the original like like a bit dizzy and a bit "perv" let's say and the reason of it will be clear only during the game for what he done and why he see monster so sexualized
I never said the game wasn’t great. I want people to play it since I do think it’s a good game. I just didn’t like the overall presentation of the story
@@Kazaonyt i never said that you said that game sucks lol ... i agree with some of your opinion, like mine on james faces, are small details that do not ruin the game but change a little the experience, that's it.. i agree with you lol ... i was giving you my positive feed

@@Daniel-Rain-YTtotally agree. It's actually pretty terrifying to see how many people like this "rape" of original Silent Hill 2 and claim that this is the best version of the game and how it does everything right. This game isn't Silent Hill 2 and not Silent Hill at all, it's just another uninspiring walking simulator from Bloober. The Silent Hill franchise deserves much more, not just some "cheap" remake, but a great new story done right by devs who do understand the essence of Silent Hill and not just pretend to do so.
Im at the hospital and I think the game drags on too much. The things they added are not bad, but doesnt feel necessary. Let's lock a few doors, add a puzzle and move some boxes. I already know when I want to replay Silent Hill 2 I will play the OG.
After 13 hours, i stopped playing. It got a bit to combat focused. I liked some aspects of it but alot of others i had issue's with. I ended up watching the rest of the game, i regret buying it overall tho. Especially since it did run awful on my pc which met the recommended requirements. Also removing: I can't tell you to remember me, but I can't bear for you to forget me. These last few years since I became ill... I'm so sorry for what I did to you, did to us... You've given me so much and I haven't been able to return a single thing. These lines from ending letter for no reason made me fucking angry. There is no reason to remove these lines they are literally the most impactful lines in the entire letter. They add so much..
@@dragonmage7980 I really dont needlessly wanna shit on this remake. But i really do believe besides the obvious performance issue's on pc. This remake is just a lesser version of the original. And the removed lines from the ending letter sequence combined with the fact how the letter was presented, which basically was just plain subtitles instead of the text flowing through the screen with a still background of the cementary. Was the last straw where i realised ok this remake just is not for me. It does look pretty tho and im sure some people will enjoy their time with it.
Being combat heavy to the detriment of the atmosphere concerns me a little. It was the main thing that drew me to Silent Hill 2 - combat...then silence. After watching this video, I definitely agree they made a mess of Eddie. Possibly it only looks like Angela was an improvement.
I wouldn’t call it “combat heavy,” I’d just say that you have to be way more cautious and tactical in terms of there being a real threat. I got the exact same feeling and atmosphere as when I played the original in 2001. I wanted to throw up from anxiety.
@@MetalTrenches huh I'm a bit confuse by what you mean it is pretty combat heavy try playing it in the indoor Area while avoiding combat see how far that take you not saying that a bad thing but just saying

@@Kazaonyt You are right. The GenZ folks (and the few shiIIs in between) have been conditioned to believe that negative criticism = toxicity. Similarly, some people postig online these days were not even born yet when SH and Team Silent were a thing, and thus do not understand the outright gruel history the IP has gone through. Including the fact that this is not the first time Konami has tried to turn SH into a RE4 style action game.
@@abinas7077 I’m GenZ and even I don’t think the remake is “perfect”. I think it’s best we wait til the honey moon phase is over. I still enjoy the game for what it is though 👍
Eddie in the OG comes off probably having mental disabilities especially since how he is dressed like an oversized child. Maybe they were afraid to offend people?
I don't care what people are saying, this is my all-time favorite SH game and I'm fucking loving the remake. The atmosphere and story is fucking fantastic! As to the modern controls, it just fits. It's not perfect, but this game is just awesome for fans of the original. As to the cutscenes/acting, I personally find it more creepy in the remake. The lack of emotion shows more of Jame's emotional state throughout the entire journey of his mental breakdown. I think people were expecting way too much, but this (imo) was a perfect remake as it captures the exact feel of the original with a modern take.
Good analysis but your criticism was far too lenient. Bloober really did a bad job on the psychological impact of the game. If there's anything noteworthy in the remake, that would be the cinematography, combat and boss battles. Other than that, they failed to capture the essence of the original SH 2 story. Average at best.
@@Mfscallmethedrink I'm not blinded by nostalgia just a massive fan of Silent Hill series. Didn't you watch the analysis? Kaza is definitely on point, James was too self-conscious all the time like he came straight out of Raccoon city lol. It beats the purpose of a dream-like surrealism sequence "David Lynch" style and he talks like an action movie star whereas the OG James talks like he's high but emotions are totally on point in every dialogue. There's no need for me to go into details as Kaza almost explained everything wrong about the remake. Perhaps it's just a different take by Bloober but I can honestly say that the OG is so much better though I know you'll still defend the remake to death good for you. I don't buy the game journalists positive review bombing about this. They are all paid and biased. I know a good game when I see one and I trust bloggers/Silent Hill fans more than them. Also, what's up with Maria's jawline bigger than James? OG Maria is way hotter and seductive than the remake. I hope they didn't intentionally make her ugly (Remake Maria's 3d actress model is beautiful) I mean look at her 19:56 She literally looks like the black undercover agent in the movie White Chicks.
One thing that bugged me a bit is the lack of brutal death animations like you'd see in RE or Dead Space....there's no unique ways to see James die. All he does from every enemy is just collapse on the ground. Boring.
My only real complaint was something that I could easily fix in the options menu. It's not perfect by any means, but tell me what game is. I feel like the remake does a really good job of capturing a lot of the vibe from the original game and adding something new to it. I mean it's pretty damn faithful. It's a good game and thats all there is to it.
I think there was a whole thing about them not wanting to outright state James hated Mary??? Also removing some Maria and Mary dialogue. Doesn't bother me, but removing the confession scene is foul
maybe. dei consultant is in the development. of course they want james = man is bad. they even removed ( or missed.... but dei ) SPOILERS small but important detail on the truth tape scenes. in the og before james kill mary, james kiss her in the forehead, pause for a bit before doing the deed. that shows that james is not a stone cold killer. his last kiss shows that he loves mary, and as an apology to her that he have to do it so she's no longer suffering. also a way for james to cope for the horrible thing he did as mercy killing. in remake he just shoved that pillow stone cold lol, like he is just a bad guy. no duality in james like the og. but imo tho.
Eh? There is one calls it goy slop and GamingBrit thinks its cringe and there are several out there who even streamed it and called it just okay but doesn't hold a candle to the original So trust me when I say this isn't the only negative review which is a good thing. I'm honestly sick of toxic positivity games have been getting for the last few years. Even people who had issues with RE2 Remake were essentially chased off for it.
@SystemHasFailed1989 Up until now, i thought Kaza's analysis was the only video that actively called out the remake's faults in terms of story and character in comparison to the original. I need to know who called it goyslop lol. And BTW Brit didn't review the remake, he just called out it's existence and the negative consequences of video game remakes in general. I too agree that games are given way too much praise these days, like they are desperate to be the next big thing that people should like, but in reality they are just "slop of the month" games that people are going to forget in less than a week. As for my opinion on the SH2 remake, I do think it is a decent horror game with lots of entertainment value, but like you said it will never hold a candle to the original game from the story and presentation that was inevitably lost in the remake.
@@TonberryChuck what annoys me the most is that I really enjoyed this game. But clearly people are making it out that I hated it and saying the game is bad or whatever. I think this is too critical of a video. It was impossible for Bloober to recreate the whole vibe of the original. I'm extremely glad that they pulled off what they did pull off. I enjoyed every moment of the Remake. In some aspects I think it did things better. This remake was way better than any other remake I've played. I think they did the original justice, especially by paying homage to the original. I also think it was cool that they answered some of our questions. Some things I don't care to leave up to my imagination. I think both games accomplished what they wanted. Which is making a good story driven game.
I state that I never expected Bloober to recreate the original feel and that I respected they went with a different approach. If they tried to copy the OG’s dreamy vibe, it would feel forced. I praised a lot about the game in this video and said it’s almost better in every way with the level design and gameplay. I just didn’t like the vibe of the cutscenes. How is that “too critical” I’m glad you and others are enjoying the game though, it’s a good game but not perfect. I’m still playing it, have about 30 hours so far. Been playing since the 6th. I do think Bloober did a good job and that we underestimated them. But that doesn’t mean I can’t critique it.
@@Kazaonyt when I say too critical, by you stating asking “why” when they choose to go a different route by letting us in on details that were left up to the imagination prior to or critiquing lines when Maria switches characters things like that. Also saying you didn’t like the vibe of the cutscenes is downplaying what you’re actually saying in the video (which is up to the viewers interpretation right). Talking about Eddie, line delivery, shots that they decided to do different is not really you critiquing in good faith. It comes off more as a nit pick. For example, I’ve experienced bugs in my playthrough where I couldn’t progress without reloading. My critique would be “the game could be more polished”. Or “Angela’s voice actress sounds forced”. Not comparing to the original, just critiquing the overall product. I didn’t leave my comment to make you feel you needed to defend yourself. I was critiquing your criticism. I think bloober did a great job, and it is good enough to stand on its own two feet vs comparing it to the original is what I was trying to say. If we remove the original, this game is fantastic and better than more horror games to come out since the original. When I watch videos like this, it seems the creator only wants to point out the negativity of the game instead of praising it for what it’s done. Saying the game is great “but” doesn’t praise it. It focuses on the bad. And I think that is not how we should be looking at this. But that’s my two cents, respectfully. The problem with the silent hill 2 remake is super clear you wanted to focus on the negative.

I've never seen a direct remake fail, so where are your examples of this? They sell the most and do well, not remakes that are reiterations. The entire point of a remake was to make the same game in updated technology, it was up to devs to add additional content and improve things not implemented best first time around. Your comment holds no weight in reality.
You can't have the same exact vibe in the remake, games with ps2 graphics are a part of horror genre themselves at this point. Remake can't and shouldn't replicate the awkward clunky oldness of the original, it should modernize the experience as it did.
Heroes were always expert marksmen? Completely false, the creators made an aiming system where the longer you aim, the better your accuracy gets to simulate how bad the characters are with guns.
6/10 mid action game, it's not bad but not even good, it's in the middle, it doesn't even feel like playing a Silent Hill videogame, btw they copy and pasted the gameplay from Silent Hill Homecoming and The Callisto Protocol, the monsters are a joke and easy af, what threat? there's no horror, not even the psychological one, bad acting, barely any music, puzzles for little kids, the only good things are the graphics, the exploration and the fact that the enemies have more than 1 attack, nothing else.
People who call this combat heavy either never played the remake and are going off the internet rhetoric or they never played the original. It had the same amount of enemies as the original. The only difference is that you have to be more careful and tactical now. In the OG you can stunlock enemies and kill them easily. The remake will punish you if you are too aggressive as they will counterattack and dodge and even block
@@AliEemanSamy-lf9gl Having played both. There is definitely a lot more monsters in the remake. It’s more than twice as long as the original, so that doesn’t make sense.
Actually I did find there were sections that did spam enemies at you ridiculously often, plus a lot more sections had obvious horror sting and loud noise stuff while spamming enemies. Hell, the final area of the labyrinth puts you in rooms where you’re meant to kill all the enemies for the door to open. I’ll say it still has those moments of silence and contemplation where it’s empty. But it definitely has too many sections that spam enemies or are action heavy then what should be in a Silent Hill. Still a great game though, just could be improved
I think the better argument is that some of us played the original SH2 like an action game - we hunted down every single monster in every room possible. In other SH games (SH3, SH0) enemy kill count influences which endings you get. I played SH0-5 like a power fantasy once I got the hang of them.
He quite literally said multiple times through out the video that he thought the game was great and that Blooper improved on nearly every aspect of the game compared to the original. He also said that some of the mechanics from the first game were really bad, i.e the combat, which is something they really improved. Yeah really sounds like he just wanted a copy of the remake. You would've understood this if you simply watched the video. His only complaint was that some of the cutscenes/character felt watered down. Something a remake should be improving. Which I think most people would fairly agree on 😃
First of all, ever since the 2002 RE1 remake, gamers have come to expect a specific level of quality and RESPECT to the original. And since Bloopoopers literally shot down the ex-Team Silent devs' suggestion of making a brand NEW story, a whole new game, just to get to make a "faithful recreation" of THE SH2, all these changes, many of them being outright downgrades + appealing to the casual, oversensitive "modern audiences", do come across plain insulting. Second, you marketers always pull your "play the OG!" card. But let me ask you this: HOW can we play the original? If you'd know anything about SH and how Konami has mistreated the IP the past 20 years now, you'd know that you're essentially encouraging people to do piracy. Which is totally fine, but at least say it out loud!
@@danielgregori7019 that’s fair enough. I like both. The remake has better gameplay, level design and puzzles. But I personally thought the story was told better in the original and had a better atmosphere. Which is obviously quite important for a silent hill game. I still see myself playing the remake to death though. I loved speed running the original, I have a feeling it’s going to be a lot of fun in the remake
I personally like the remake James way more than the OG one. As someone who has issues with emotional numbness nothing feels real, even information that would shock most people would just barely process to me. it's hard to explain exactly how it feels because you have to experience it and I don't know if bloober made it intentional but to me it felt really well done.
Eddie's scenes didn't really focus on the parallel between he and James at all in the remake. They feel limp compared to the original, like the og conveyed everything the remake had plus much more
I have to disagree with you about new Eddie vs. old Eddie.. I think the remake improved upon his character and cutscenes. The old version made Eddie seem pathetic, untrustworthy, and laughable. Then, he turns into a crazed murderer before the boss battle. There was hardly any subtlety.. So when James kills him, it feels completely justified. Eddie was just messed up and evil, so killing him creates no conflict in the player's mind. Bloober decided to take a slower, more deliberate approach to Eddie's character this time that I think works exceptionally well. His derangement creeps up on you and develops organically, leaving players with a steadily evolving concept of Eddie as a potential threat. When we first meet him, the new Eddie seems like more of a victim.. he seems troubled, traumatized, and more human. He seems harmless and almost pathetic. There's no perceivable threat, and you instantly feel bad for him. The next time you meet him in the theatre, his vibe has changed, creating that uneasy tension that you described in the first original Eddie's cutscene... There's something.. off, even though we have established previously that he is harmless and meek.. now we are not so sure. By the time it is revealed that Eddie now poses an immediate threat to James, we still feel sorry for Eddie, which makes what must happen next feel so conflicting. Eddie has snapped, yet his actions almost seem more justified.. like the world pushed him to this point. The player understands that Eddie's character was HUMAN, with dimension, pain, and trauma who made horrible mistakes (just like James). Now when James is forced to defend himself and kill Eddie, it feels more tragic and poignant.. Like his death could have been prevented. Eddie just needed help.
You can't please everyone, especially people that view the original with rose-colored glasses and especially people that read a level of nuance or meaning into minute details in the original game that absolutely wasn't even there. I'm glad that you feel like the developers of the original game were speaking directly into your soul.
This game, Silent Evil is not better than the original. You brought up so many points on why the original is better the combat for one is utter ridiculous and it takes away the immersion. This alone should be enough since much of the game is freakin fighting which is a moot point and it is a huge deal that the dodge mechanic is present because if it wasn't Blubber studios would of toned it down on the damn fighting instead of trying to encourage the player to freakin fight. Why do you guys want to remake one of the best remasters ever? That being Resident Evil 1 remaster? It's been remade from the original Resident Evil 1 on the PSX into the Resident Evil 1 remaster we know today which is one of the few that surpasses that of the original and both were done under the creator Shin Mikami. You want to RUIN Resident Evil 1 to be utter crap and an olver the shoulder bs like Resident Evil 2 remake which completely ruined side B on both characters because the game was a cash grab only and not actually made out of love and passion but tons of 1d!ots bought it and did not give a damn how the original was far superior to it. @Spenny8233 your right. The atmosphere is better than the original. The combination of scarier enemies (due to better AI), better sound design than the original and better graphics contributes to a better atmosphere than the OG in the remake. This is coming from a fan of the original

I really liked the remake although I agree that some scenes don't have the same impact. I was especially looking forward to the scene with Maria behind bars and this one was so disappointing. People didn't believe that mary's body was in james' car due to her being carried away, but because of the sh2 novel. In the novel after James leaves the hotel, he goes straight back to the highway and picks up her body from the trunk of the car. He then sets her in the passenger's seat and drives into the lake.

Regarding "Bloober answering too many questions":
I think answering and explaining too much is a big issue in western writing in general at the moment.
I just like both for different reasons. Overall I'm really happy we have two good versions of silent hill 2 to play now.

I haven't cared about graphics in years, so there's nothing to spend $70 on. Too bad
Yeah the Maria in the remake doesn’t work at all, the voice acting is just not good. Even the final speech for her playing Mary is bad.

I mean, just look at the Maria cutscene in the labyrinth prison room:
The entire scene is enveloped in this *dingy lighting that casts deep shadows across the environment*.
Im'ma be real. It pisses me off, when people mindlessly post, "SH2R is better than the OG."
You know, they only played the remake.

Exactly
Hope this makes sense lol
@@jayjayvah I understand what you mean 😁

Agreed. I've seen people make an argument that because of the MODERN obesity problems and fat-enabling circumstances, the "old" Eddie would've just come across as a "normal guy". Absolutely horrifying.
Being morbidly obese doesn't make someone look crazy... it makes them look flawed.

@@mrshadowguy1999 I thought she did a good job for the most part but some scenes just weren’t as good as the original
James does that with other objects you can interact with in the game like the original.

@@dragonmage7980 RE1 is the greatest Resident Evil game ever in my opinion
Mary is even asking James "if that's true then why are you sad now...?"
The comical voices of the original SH2 are in fact making me so much more detached from the game taking place in Silent Hill. Remake voices make me (personally) feel like such dialogues could actually happen in real life. You calling James unhinged is me seeing James' voice actor as somebody who doesn't reflect real-life dialogues. He is showing more of the 'american' lines (such us SH4's "are you okay?")
The fact that the camera is hinting that Mary's body was in the backseat of the car added so much more to the horror when I played it.
I guess I must have skipped it…
I also never said the dialogue was realistic in the original.
@@kacperzimowski4626 ah ok no worries

26:30??? Removing the confession scene?
It's there in the remake.
In the original inwater ending. James is sitting by Mary and confesses to her on why he killed her. That was absent from the remake, instead it was James sitting in his car.
holy shit. you're right, it is in the game. Thank god. I assumed it was removed since it wasn't in the in water ending. I apologise.
Imo bloober team has done a good job but i am still salty about how buggy the blair witch was on quest 2 and how the medium basically victim blames
Remaked Maria is terrible
I haven't watched the video yet, BUT;
I think the switch to over the shoulder is the biggest loss to the game. you will never get that Eerie sense of dissociation the original gave off with its amazing angles.

There's no need for me to go into details as Kaza almost explained everything wrong about the remake. Perhaps it's just a different take by Bloober but I can honestly say that the OG is so much better though I know you'll still defend the remake to death good for you.

The remake will punish you if you are too aggressive as they will counterattack and dodge and even block
@@AliEemanSamy-lf9gl Having played both. There is definitely a lot more monsters in the remake. It’s more than twice as long as the original, so that doesn’t make sense.
Do you work for Bloober? For a year old account, all your comments are on SH2 Remake videos.
It’s a remake. If you want the same game just play the original
@@stephenhawkins555 I’m pleased with everything else about the remake besides the certain cutscenes I talked about 🙂
Wtf are you talking about
This game, Silent Evil is not better than the original.
I sincerely hope Crapcom does not listen to any of you weirdos and only provide higher texture graphics for Resident Evil 1 remaster.

Set the time of the video at 42:31 - I think that SH2 original voices were at times just ridiculously bad/hollow. It's very difficult to beat Oblivion Npcs', yet OG SH2 went beyond that more than just several times.
@@kacperzimowski4626 Don’t worry. A lot of people share the same opinion as you. I never said the original voice acting was good, just that it had charm and that it felt dreamy
Such a tedious game. This game is so generic. This is not suppose to be as action packed. And it’s all the same thing we have seen before in every other game like it. It’s so linear. Plus this game has no atmosphere
"it's so linear"
Tell me you haven't played SH2 OG without telling me...
you're just blatantly being a dumbass
The game is dripping in atmosphere.
@@TheBlueLink3sure it’s dripping in something but definitely not the atmosphere of the original you honestly could never recreate it it has so much to do with the graphics
@Spenny8233 your right. The atmosphere is better than the original. The combination of scarier enemies (due to better AI), better sound design than the original and better graphics contributes to a better atmosphere than the OG in the remake. This is coming from a fan of the original
Nitpick, just like re 4 fans
Cope more
Nitpick that the aura that made the game good is gone…
