Thank you Marie, I'm so glad you like it! I use Filament all the time and it works great when you know how to set it up. The node has options to adjust the scene lights and distant lights independently, so you can adjust it to match what Iray renders on a per-scene basis. 🤩
very nice tutorial, its all the best. thank you very much. who find i please the filament(prb) i cant this not see in View: Displays theDraw Style Options Menu? plse help.
Hi Jay, thank you for this and all others great video about DAZ, I'm a bite "new" on it still, so you are a great teacher and helpfull ! Beside it i tried to do what you did with the smoke but i failed... no smoke effect in any of my shaders directories :( ? I'm using the 4.20 too. Do you have an idea about what my problem is ? Serge from France
HI Serge, great to hear that you can learn from my channel 🤩 If you don't see the shader in the places I've described, it's likely that you haven't updated or installed the Default Resources that come with Daz Studio. If you're using Install Manager, search for "Default" and they should come up.
@@WPguru WOOOW, thats magic :) I got it. As I said you are great teacher. Thank you. I will surely come back to you some day for some other "stupid" question. Bonne journée.

amazing video, thank you ... the big question is ... if i build some smoke in blender and use it in daz it is only 1 image to use ... what about animations and the vdb? it`s also sad that we have to find out on our self where to find those options and how they work ...
@@WPguru but nevertheless, as a vendor, i am grateful for the new functions and will probably already implement them in my next environment ... (known as mbit/brain1969)
No smoke? I think there may be something wrong with the file download, I tried some from ARTstation and it was the same. On closer inspection, it looks like it's clinging to the bottom of the cube.
I'd use a cone primitive, add the VDB shader to it, fill it with fog and then have a spot light shine through it. That's how it's done in video games, like the underwater lights of the Subnautica vehicles. There's even a script included with Daz Studio that will attempt to do this (search for "parent code to light"). I'll make a video when I figure out how to do it.
OK, I increased density to 800 and it became visible and increased size to 600% as it was very small. Decreased density to 50 now I can see what I have.
If you want to run a video clip on a a tv prop inside a scene the only way I found to do that is through other video editing software. I'm currently using "Shotcut" and although it can resize and move the video clip, it can't change the angle/perspective, so the object (tv screen etc) would have to be facing the camera. Other video software (like "After Effects") however can have that option.
There's a product I've been meaning to try, it can animate textures in Daz Studio. It might work for your project: www.daz3d.com/animated-textures-script-for-daz-studio?cjref=1&cjevent=bd1e3350dfe911eb80a6d9200a82b821

@@WPguru Thank you! Very powerful PC anyway. My friends who decided to try a new version faced with different problems. HDRI does not working. Dark squares. Very grainy renders...
@@alexs.3210 Oh interesting, I've not had a chance to test this on my GTX 970 system. Might be that the new version of Iray doesn't like to play nice with older GPUs anymore. That's incorrect, the update addressed an issue that makes mesh lights work differently than before, but they still work. I'll show you how to do it in an upcoming video.
@@WPguru That would be nice cos right now, myself, and many others are pulling our hair out. But, it also shows me to remember my old habits and never update blindly, wait and see what bugs and tripe show up. Its not like Daz loves me, they are a corporation, so they want money, honey ;)
@@janedagger The best advice I can give you is to sign up for the Daz Studio Beta: daz3d.com/daz-studio-beta It will let you manage two versions of Daz Studio side by side, sharing the same assets. The beta is usually a bit ahead of the release, so you can thoroughly test if the beta works and keep it updated, then leave the release version "behind" for a bit and make sure everything works. Another tip is to keep the ZIP installer files for older versions of Daz Studio around, just in case you have a need to go back.

Try turning down your HDRI, if that's too strong perhaps it obliterates the effect.
