I purchased the UM holster awhile back for my GX4 and was happy carrying with it. Always looking for improvements, in anything, I ordered and now have the GX4 holster from CYA Supply. Everything you mentioned I agree with and it is a definate 'improvement' from the UM. Great videos on the GX4. I bought this little guy specifically for pocket carry in a Remora holster. It works great, just like the Hellcat. Once you get into a bigger footprint than the GX4, Hellcat and regular P365, you basically have a belt gun or waist line gun. There are lots of options for that. Pocket carry works for my every day routine at 5'8" and 158 pounds. Plus on two occasions these last few years, it looked as though something bad was about to unfold and I just calmly put my hand in my pocket, and observed without calling ANY attention to the situation. Both situations sort of dissolved luckily, but nobody was the wiser. These pocket nines provide us with excellent options. My 2 cents.
Thanks for sharing this. The Taurus mag extension works fine for me... But, I completely agree with you about the holster on the Taurus site. For me, it's basically unusable because it carries too high. I use a sticky holster. Very comfortable... I basically forget I'm carrying... Love my GX4.
I got my sticky holster for my gx4 almost a year ago. The recommended size was too tight IMO... so I exchanged it for one size up which I'm happy with. It has loosened a bit over time... so, the recommended size will probably also work after some break in. Personally, I like to be able to get the gun out easily... and I've never felt like the gun isn't secure in the +1 size. You can find size charts online.
You should be happy with the gx4. Had mine 8 days after its release and absolutely love it. I no longer want for the 365. Also it has yet to fail with 300 rounds of various ammo including steel cased

I purchased my GX4 online. It was still in transit when watched your video. I ordered the magazine extension from lakeline LLC and received it before the gun made it to the FFL. Picked it up today and installed the extension. I like it. One thing I noticed was the play you mentioned was present in the stock magazine also. The lakeline llc extension was almost too tight. Trying to decide on a concealed holster now. Thank you for the reviews.
@@JayLewisFarmStyle Thanks. They do need to refine the extension. But not much. It locks a bit tighter fully loaded than the stock mag does. But the base plate has more side to side play as you noted in your review.
Just picked up a gx4 TORO, my first personal firearm. Very happy with it! I think I will be checking out the ameriglow front sight, I purchased a soft shell holster for the time being… going to be getting used to the feel of carrying and probably adjust holster set up as I learn what I like
Been looking at Lake Line stuff. They have a lot for Taurus. I have the PT111 G-2. Been a great gun and the trigger is wearing in nicely. Keep posting, you are doing us a great service!😉
@@kevinowens4121 really, how so? I was thinking about their Threaded barrel, striker channel replacement, with the recoil spring. They say it is out of stock, but will E-Mail when it is back in stock.
Good morning, I may be a little late to the party .. I currently have the g2c as well as the Glock 43 and s&w bodyguard pocket pistol !! But the bodyguard is 380 nothing wrong with that just like a lil extra punch but is great for less clothes days since in fl ,, and I do love the g43 but not crazy about having to cary extra mag !! But the g2 and people may dis agree but I’ll trust my life and family with it do to never having any problems after approx 1k rounds and not one problem with various ammo .. sorry for going around my elbow to get from pinky to thumb !! ? Is i been looking at the g4 and wondering if there is enough difference between the two . To justify taking that step and spending monsoon new or doing some upgrades to the g2 ? Also as a preacher I appreciate you always adding God to your videos .. thanks for any positive feedback and may God bless you.
Pastor Carl, thanks for sharing brother! I used to carry a glock 42 (380 auto/ 7 round capacity) as a shorts and flip flops gun. I felt as you do that there were better options for practical self defense with a 9 mm over the 380. My 1st "Micro-9" was the P365. While it was significantly heavier than the Glock 42 the overall footprint wasn't much larger and I wasn't sure if the extra weight from the P365 would bother me. What I found after just a couple of months was that I liked the P365 so much that I never carried the 42 anymore. That being said I sold it at a local gun shop and used the money to purchase the Taurus GX4 as it was brand new to the market. I am not sure if you have handled or messed around with the GX4 yet, but one common misconception of folks who haven't seen 1 in real life is they think it is a newer edition of the G2C/G3C platform. The GX4 being its own platform is incredibly similar in size and weight and feel to the Sig P365. I carry the GX4 just as often as I carry the P365. While the Sig has a slight edge in overall fit and finish it also has a $200 premium over the GX4. In my opinion the GX4 is a very nice pistol and is arguably the most refined pistol Taurus has ever come out with. I hope you get the chance to handle/shoot one and I believe it will convince you to buy 1.
Mr. Lewis , thanks for the reply will be going by my local store and checking out !! I had heard mixed reviews but seining them side by side made a world of difference . Taurus has come a long way and knock on wood I personally have only ever had one bad one witch was the I believe the tcp 380 the ruger copy the safest place was in front of that gun lol. Anyway as a heads up for a short and t ship day I personally found the s&w m&p bodyguard 380 for pocket cary to be very worthwhile ,,, the only two things I can say negative and definitely not deal breakers is the limited 6+1 witch I found out the hard way had wife swing by a local shop and pick up 2 extended mags with extenders on them salesman told me they were 8 round with the extenders come to find out aftermarket 6 round mag with grip extenders on them looked like you put a 30 round clip in a Glock 42 lol what I get for not going myself.. anyway the standard are fine just no place for pinky is other down side but for ccw fits great in pocket or kydex and lite as a feather anyway thanks for feedback God bless you and all the subscribers ..

Waiting on the arrival of my GX4 .. instead of going with pinky extension.. I ordered two 13rd magazines from KYGUNCO… ( same place I ordered my GX4) I also see Taurus offers a +2 extension and spring for the 11rd mag I most likely will order a the +2 extension and front NS from Taurus… Thanks for the information on the holster…
Bill, that’s what I did. I ordered two 13 round mags and two of the +2 and springs for my stock mags that came with the gun. So I’ve got 4 - 13 round mags with full grip. Also did the same and got the front sight from Taurus. Also my holster is simply a Sticky holster. Fits perfect and very comfortable.
Was a very informative video as I just got a gx4 and am looking for a holster. A guy makes them about 20 miles away to what ever gun you have as he needs to keep said gun till he's done. However I've been other than satisfied with his before
One thing to consider with striker fired handguns; while not a hard and fast rule, I adhere to it. That is to stick with hard sided holsters, preferably kydex. Soft nylon or leather doesn't isolate the trigger guard like a rigid holster does. Thanks for watching!
🔥👍🏼Thanks for the great video!! Likely a dumb question here but with the LakeLine barrels I get the reason for the ported and threaded barrels for the GX4 and G3C. They also have a G3C standard barrel that does not stick out pass slide. So my question is what is point of getting a standard LakeLine barrel other then for looks? really appreciate your help and response. I asked LakeLine about a standard barrel for the GX4 and they said about 6-8 weeks as they being made now.
While swapping to an extended and/or threaded barrel for the sake of adding a muzzle device or built in compensator makes sense, to do a barrel swap for the sake of swapping to a "speed part" in most cases for most people would be of minimal benefit. The finish on the Lakeline barrel is probably better than that of the factory part, but again how much would that help most users? Neither the G3 or G4 series would be what I would call target or match grade pistols, so adding a match grade barrel to either of those platforms would only help so much. Just my two cents. Thanks for watching!
I've noticed carrying with the holster at an angle like that makes all the difference. The G4 is so much easier to manage than my G3xl. Of course now they have the G4xl which made me want to kick the dog but then I figured I could just buy them all. It's Taurus!!! Lakeline seems to be doing a better job than not. More people like them than dislike them. When I do get my ported barrel I will probably use them. We will see.
I've heard really good things about the Lakeline barrels. I'd like to get one. The beautiful thing about Taurus is you can afford a couple of them. I'm excited about the GX4XL too. Thanks for sharing!
I ordered 2 items for my Taurus G2C from Lakeline and I had no issue without the shipping insurance. I like your comparison of the pinky extenders and I bought the ones from shop Taurus and they fit my hand like the Lakeline fits yours and that price point was awesome. Great video and thank you for sharing man oh I bought the Rounded Kydex holster for my GX4 and it also has that 15-degree tilt that makes a huge difference in comfort and printing.
I've had a couple of viewers tell me that the UM Tactical holsters for the GX4 are now adjustable for cant as well. Mine was a very early production model, and I think maybe they just rushed it out without the extra set of holes 🕳 . I could probably add them myself if I really wanted to🤔 ??? Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed your video,, and comments on LakeLine. I just got my Gx4 and am pretty pleased- rented one at the range so am anxious to see if mine is going to perform well. Subscribed- look forward to your other videos.
You hit important topics. Thanks. I still don't know which pinky extension I would need. I have not bought Lakeline insurance and have been lucky enough to recieve all my orders. Several holsters put the pistols too high above the belt creating problems, especially for AIWB carry rigs.
I watched your previous video, along with some other people's videos, which described the Taurus brand pinky extension as being a bit anemic. For me, I could get half my pinky on the stock baseplate, so I figured it the extension would work for me. I picked it up and it's perfect. It barely adds any length, just enough to get a full grip with my pinky. Good video, just wanted to get my experiences out there for people who may be deciding what to get! Edit I also just ordered the CYA holster, I've used them in the past and had good luck, thanks for the recommendation on it for this firearm!

Great Video:D Been looking hard and over many companies for a proper holster, any suggestions for an appendix holster with a extra mag holsters attached?
As we know, no one solution works for everyone. The GX4 fits nicely in a ComfortTac belly band holster. If you’re experiencing much printing, an inexpensive elastic belt seems to be the trick. Not only does it seem to avoid pushing the holster up the waste/torso, but it makes tucking everything back in where it fits properly, exponentially easier. As a plus, the belt can provide just enough stretch to eliminate a substantial amount of being poked. Combined, you can have a fairly comfortable EDC setup (none are perfect), that’s tightly concealed with almost zero printing for $35-55. For whatever that’s worth…
I've ordered a threaded barrel for my g3 and a stainless guide rod for my g2 with no problems. Here's a thought.. change holsters! Another unbiased opinion here folks!
Thanks for all your gx4 and g3c comparisions..and holster mentions..I'll be getting gx4 with fde slide tomorrow and ordering the cya holster. Hopefully finding a good gun belt as well..please comment with your ideas on edc belts. I'm a dad bod type figure..lol. iwb right hand hip position is my favorite. 3/6/22 - recently purchased pinky extension from Lakeline LLC. I saw no banners encouraging me to buy insurance. Got my package in about 7 days. Also the Lakeline pinky extension fits very snug and I'm very happy with it.
Good to hear you like it. I've mentioned in a couple of followup videos that Lakeline LLC stopped charging for shipping insurance a few months ago. Thanks for sharing!
I got the UM Tactical holster less than 2 weeks ago and I held it up by this video to compare it to yours and it looks like they’ve altered it already so that the cant is slightly angled like the CYA holster.
@@JayLewisFarmStyle i shot both today. The gx4's grip feels way beret in my hands than the thin 365. I have a rogue grip on it. It did feel a little glocky but not blocky. But shot great!
I be enjoy your vids…I’m hearing impaired and your delivery (slow/clear enunciation) helps a lot so TY…great content here…have you done anything on the DB9 by Diamond Back?
I prefer the GX4 to the Max-9. I hold the GX4 in the same regard as the P365. If I had to choose one over the other I'd take the P365. But it's a near tie.

Jay there's a guy with huge hands posted a video about a gx4 he has where it every third shot or so with his the trigger would just go out on it and then he could bump the slide on the gun and then the striker would go off whatever was causing his gun to do that or quite a few guys posted on his video that their Taurus gx4s were doing the same thing I mean it was alarming the way that striker was released after the trigger quit working unexpectedly think the title to his video was serious trigger problems something like that you might want to check that out and again thank you for the video I still may just get me one of these guns because I like them
I love both, and haven't had issues with either. P365 is finished off a little better, feels better in my hand, and ultimately I find myself carrying it more often. I'd say get whichever feels better in your hand.
I don't care for IWB. I find it uncomfortable, and I can easily conceal a full size, let alone micro, under an untucked shirt. I found a Tagua 1836 leather paddleback that works with my P365XL Romeo and my GX4. As far as pinky extensions..I like the GX4 for its capacity and concealability. I have to conceal at work and it fits great in a cargo pocket. A pinky extension might make it harder to close the pocket flap. I'd need to see the Lakeline extension on it and next to a P365XL to know. I'd like to try one to see if it affects my accuracy. At the range, I found I was adequately accurate at common self-defense distances with an unmodified GX4. I still plan to put an Ameriglo on the front.

I still haven't bought the GX4 since this video came out 6 months ago, but, the vid popped up and I watched it again. With either of those holsters, how do you get a full three finger master grip between the top of your belt and the front/bottom of the pistol grip for a sub 2 second draw to first shot on target? The open space looks too small to smoothly and rapidly get the fingers completely wrapped around the pistol.
I have had a bunch of iwb holsters for several different carry guns and I always hate the ones that don't ride deep enough. I have sold great guns in the past because of the issue and hadn't caught on to the real issue. Now days I make sure the belt line is behind the trigger guard so it rides low enough for my liking. Etsy usually has someone that makes one like I like.
Just found your channel great job. I think the way you say "simuler" is similar to the way I say say it.lol. Thinking about buying a Gx4 thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching! I think the GX4 is the best deal out there in terms of value:quality. Mine is an early one and still working as it should. Here's a link to the end of year review video: ua-cam.com/video/wlfrfFI4ups/v-deo.html
Thanks for the sub! I actually live about an hour north of Houston in a rural area known as Cut and Shoot Texas. I attended some training in Charleston years ago, and liked it well enough to go back on my own time. I've had good luck with most everything I've acquired from PSA.
Really liked this video since I just bought a Taurus gx4. Only thing I would critique if I had to was your pop ups on your video were too quick to read. Again though I’m very happy I came across your video and you’re definitely gonna save me some money on experimenting with gx4 parts!
Being too quick is a burden I've carried for years. That being said, the video editing software sometimes makes things like pop-ups appear differently in the finished product than it does in the editing format. The guy that does my editing is functionally retarded from an audio/video technical perspective so don't set the bar too high and you won't be disappointed. Thanks for watching!
I'm at a crossroads with what to do about the GX4, because not having a pinky extension bothers me. About to watch your part 3 video, but I'm glad you made this one to illustrate how the one from Taurus doesn't work well.
Thanks for watching! As an update to this video: I'm not impressed with the Lakeline LLC 3D printed parts either. One of the last videos I did shows the 15 round extension failure. I wish they were better quality.
Thanks for subscribing! I'm trying to put something out weekly. It's a labor of love for sure and appreciate hearing when folks get something out of it.
Here's the short answer in my opinion, based on my observation. It's tiny, and handles quite a bit of energy for something that small. That energy is mitigated by the spring technology. While it is somewhat necessarily stiff, I find it no worse than the Sig P365, and easier to rack than the Ruger Max-9. This is what absorbs the recoil and therefore keeps it from being snappy, and painful to shoot. I think you will find does get easier with practice and is worth the effort! Congrats on your purchase and thanks for watching!
Greetings I bought a GX 4. I'm interested in buying the second choice of holdster that you showed on this video. Can you put the link of the page and model number of the item, please Thanks in advance
I'm curious about the Lakeline Extension, and you did show it briefly, and talk about it extensively with regards to "purchase," but I would have really like to "see" more of the pistol with the angled extension. Perhaps do another demo with it flat on a table, maybe comparing it to other sub-compacts that you might have. Wahi' Valleys

The holster from shop taurus can be adjusted to have a 15° cant. also. It does sit a little high but it helps conceal it a little better. But, I think I would like to try the holster you mentioned. Also, for me, the Taurus pinky extender works great. I do, however have a slightly skinnier hand than you. Other than that, I'm starting to love this micro.
Great overall review, i personally like the umtac holster as it fits me well and carries well on me, although my only concern is that exposed mag release as the gx4 mag release is very easy to press on

Cya kydex holsters are great. I have two of them for my TH9C and G3C. Great video.

Waiting on the arrival of my GX4 .. instead of going with pinky extension.. I ordered two 13rd magazines from KYGUNCO… ( same place I ordered my GX4)
I also see Taurus offers a +2 extension and spring for the 11rd mag
I most likely will order a the +2 extension and front NS from Taurus…
Thanks for the information on the holster…
Thanks for watching!
You just made my day, Bill. Hadn't heard of them and just placed my order for the GX4.
Very informative thank you. Much better explanations of why/why not than others I have seen. This helps a lot

Thanks for sharing!
Ordered a CYA holster after watching your video. Thanks for the info
You'll be pleased I think.

The um cant is adjustable to at least 13 degrees on my g3 Taurus holster. Great video

You hit important topics. Thanks. I still don't know which pinky extension I would need. I have not bought Lakeline insurance and have been lucky enough to recieve all my orders. Several holsters put the pistols too high above the belt creating problems, especially for AIWB carry rigs.

I’m a new comer to your tube and I’ve subscribed. Looks very informative to me. Thanks.
Thanks for joining the crew! We put out new stuff fairly often, and do our best to keep it real and entertaining.
Edit
I also just ordered the CYA holster, I've used them in the past and had good luck, thanks for the recommendation on it for this firearm!

Been looking hard and over many companies for a proper holster, any suggestions for an appendix holster with a extra mag holsters attached?
I have a Tier1 Conceal AIWB that I'm pleased with. They a little bit pricey.
Hope that helps.
I really like cya holsters as well. 👍

I bought the leather holster from taurus, love it.

Thanks for sharing 👍
I've ordered a threaded barrel for my g3 and a stainless guide rod for my g2 with no problems.
Here's a thought.. change holsters!
Another unbiased opinion here folks!
Thanks for sharing!
How's the CYA holster for the gx4 holding up? Just purchased the gx4 and am looking for a reasonably priced holster for EDC. Thanks!!
It's still good as new. I have several different pistols with CYA Supply Co holsters.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks JL. Great job. Good info.
Taurus does make a 13 round magazine now, for the gx4. I purchased 2 of them for $27.00 a piece at my local gunshop.
We covered that in part 1 of this series.

Thank you for your video, very helpful.

We try to put something out regularly.
Taurus makes a 13 round mag for the gx4, I bought one when I bought the gun and it makes it more bearable to grip.
Thanks for watching!
I got the UM Tactical holster less than 2 weeks ago and I held it up by this video to compare it to yours and it looks like they’ve altered it already so that the cant is slightly angled like the CYA holster.
Good to know.
Thanks for watching!
How is the grip angle? Glockish could be the reason for the higher center of gravity?
Very near the P365.
Thanks for watching!
I haven't done anything with the DB9.
Jay…how would you rank the gx4 and Ruger max 9 against the p365…TIA
I prefer the GX4 to the Max-9. I hold the GX4 in the same regard as the P365. If I had to choose one over the other I'd take the P365. But it's a near tie.
Thank for taking the time to post this .

Jay there's a guy with huge hands posted a video about a gx4 he has where it every third shot or so with his the trigger would just go out on it and then he could bump the slide on the gun and then the striker would go off whatever was causing his gun to do that or quite a few guys posted on his video that their Taurus gx4s were doing the same thing I mean it was alarming the way that striker was released after the trigger quit working unexpectedly think the title to his video was serious trigger problems something like that you might want to check that out and again thank you for the video I still may just get me one of these guns because I like them
I'll check it out.
Thanks for watching!
I'm trying to decide between the P365 and the Gx4 which would you recommend price aside.
I love both, and haven't had issues with either.
P365 is finished off a little better, feels better in my hand, and ultimately I find myself carrying it more often.
I'd say get whichever feels better in your hand.
Really enjoyed the content and professionalism of your review.
Thanks for watching!

That sounds like a good topic for an upcoming video…
Really appreciated your honest appraisals of the Taurus holster versus CYA. Solid points! Liked already subscribed.
Thanks for watching!
Agreed indeed! If it doesn't fit right, or is uncomfortable most folks won't carry it.
Here's a link to the end of year review video:

@@JayLewisFarmStyle thank you, Sir. Got one ordered.
I just bought one. I seen a question about if dropped they will fire. Did you see anything about this and if so, is there a recall?

I'm at a crossroads with what to do about the GX4, because not having a pinky extension bothers me. About to watch your part 3 video, but I'm glad you made this one to illustrate how the one from Taurus doesn't work well.
Thanks for watching!
As an update to this video:
I'm not impressed with the Lakeline LLC 3D printed parts either. One of the last videos I did shows the 15 round extension failure. I wish they were better quality.

Good stuff man, your videos are always so informative. Wish I could find a GX4 for up here in Alaska
Why can't you ship one?
I jus bought the new gx4 and I really like it, but why is it so hard to rack?
Here's the short answer in my opinion, based on my observation. It's tiny, and handles quite a bit of energy for something that small. That energy is mitigated by the spring technology. While it is somewhat necessarily stiff, I find it no worse than the Sig P365, and easier to rack than the Ruger Max-9.
This is what absorbs the recoil and therefore keeps it from being snappy, and painful to shoot. I think you will find does get easier with practice and is worth the effort!
Congrats on your purchase and thanks for watching!
Greetings
I bought a GX 4. I'm interested in buying the second choice of holdster that you showed on this video.
Can you put the link of the page and model number of the item, please
