Julie Goodyear has beautiful brown eyes. What a touching scene with Deirdre and Bet who has a heart of gold. What memories of big curly hair in the late 80s. It’s nice that we can see Annie Kirkbride’s lovely face with the new frames.
Bloody brilliant thanks for uploading 👍👍 Jack+Vera, bet+ Alec, Rita+ Mavis, mavis + Derek, all comedy gold with 10 times better story lines than today!
Must have brought back memories of when Deirdre was molested under the viaduct in 1977, she attempted suicide on a motorway bridge as a result. I’ll have to watch the episodes back but I don’t think Bet even knew about that, only Ray, Len and Emily & Ernie as I recall. Anne was always exceptional in emotional scenes.

Seeing the houses in their origional state with the huge black metal fire range with the fire & various ovens & the dreary wallpaper that stayed up for decades! The camera even pans down the street giving the name of the actors who played the roles at each house There was Stan & Hilda & son Trevor & daughter Irma, Ida & Frank Barlow with sons Ken & David. Then Harry & Concepta Hewitt & daughter Lucille, Albert Tatlock with niece Valerie, Elsie Tanner & son Dennis & daughter Linda. Then, Ena Sharples at the Mission. Where mikes factory is there used to be a store called Gamma Garments where Miss Nugent ( Emily) worked as assistant to manager Mr Swinley The corner shop was 1st run by Florrie Linley ( then Maggie Clegg took over who was Betty Turpins sister) The Kabin wasnt there then but Len Fairclough was & worked in the yard but i cant remember if he lived in the street Alf was also in the 1st ones & a few others whos names escape me And of course Annie & Jack Walker ran the Rovers with teen son Billy I have to admit that by this current batch Dec 1989, they arent as good as earlier ones & i feel this lot is the coming end to the golden years of Corrie! I've been on a binge since the start in 1960. I'm past the point where I saw them when live. It's changing but I'll stick with it until at least Bradleys meeting with a tram. That will be worth waiting for.
It seems from Dec '88 onwards, Alan Bradley started being a Villain. Mark Eden who played him did an excellent job, because he is in reality a skilled Stage/Screen actor, who was also excellent playing Marco Polo in the 63 Doctor Who, and in The Prisoner episode too. Alan Bradley was the BEST soap villain of all time because he played him like a real person, and not a 'cartoon character' - also the better/skilled/decent/clever writers played a important part too . They preferred quality instead of ratings at the time - such a shame the show has now gone to the dogs compared to the 'Golden Era' of the Podmore years. BTW, I read in his Bio, if Corrie went severely downhill (like nowadays), he would of taken the show off air immediately. I wish someone decent was running Corrie now, but Alan Bradley's daughter is apparently the current Landlady of the Rovers - strange.
Podmore must have been seriously deluded if he really said that. As a mere producer he would have had no authority to take Corrie off air. As ITV's no.1 flagship programme that would have been a decision for the chief executive of ITV. In reality the decision would have rested even higher up, with advertisers and even the government sticking their 2p in as well.
There's a kind of nostalgia to this but what infuriates me is how many of the actors on here are dead!! They really need to stop allowing people to die!!
So alan leaves because rita was emotionless, and Rita allows him back even though he went off with someone else, I always thought rita was more than that
Because he is a conman and after any money she has. The girlfriend wouldn't let him into her life financially as a partner or husband as she was wary, happy to sleep with him, but nothing else, so he snapped straight back to Rita who he then defrauds for thousands by taking money out in the name of the dead Len Fairclough. The character is a total conman, he is just one of these men who sponges off women and ends up in jail for fraud.
