I love your teaching style. You take your time, you have notes and subtitles to summarize what you say. I will subscribe. As a beginner this is very helpful, thank you Sheryl!
I can't believe it! I've watched a tooon of tus on super simple something to get me started but all are still just not quite right...still a little daunting. I have never sewed (I knit & recently learned crocheted) but have this desire to learn how. This is so wonderful....perfect, just what I was looking for a super easy stat. You explain so well & I loved the written notes right in the vid. I'm going to Joanns later today to get what I need. I am 70 & am here to tell you that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks haha (seriously) Thanx a mil!! :D
I am redoing my dining room and can’t find any placemats with matching napkins that I like. This video popped up on my screen this morning! Now I’m ready to go shopping for fabric!! Thank you for your wonderful and informative videos!
While I have some sewing experience, I find your videos very helpful. Your patient voice, and clear instructions, make it very easy to follow. Thank You for posting!

Hi Bonnie. You live in a beautiful country. I have visited there a few times. So glad the sewing tutorials are helpful. Glad you liked the placemat tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
****Thank You ****. Excellent instructions and such a worth while project for my home and gifts as well. I like your pace, your easy to understand directions and your sweet personality.
Thanks for your wonderful videos. You have very clear instructions. I made those placemats and also the ones with the mitered borders today - so easy to do! Sure glad I have discovered your channel.
Thank you so much for sharing your gift of sewing with us and I've learned so much from you. I always look forward to your videos and Sherrill this placemat is so cute. I will be making some soon.
a great pattern; however, I have frixion pens for marking and it irons away. I love this tutorial because you can decorate it as you wish with quilting design and fabric.
Love your videos! Instead of using pins, the Frixion pens could be used. Mark a dot with the pins and when done iron the dots away! I use them all the time to mark fabrics as the heat of the iron removes the pen marks. Keep your videos coming!!
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I'm looking forward to making these for gifts. Please tell me if you prewash your fabric before starting, thank you.
The Sewing Room Channel Thank you for your FAST response. Good to know, I'm off to pick my fabrics. Thank you again for your tutorials, they're thorough and your delivery is calm and clear.
Why does my fabric move as I am sewing? Do I need to put more pins in? Or change the foot? I just bought a Janome for beginners and I’ve used the Foot that comes with it. As I’m sewing I’m getting little tiny plates, here and there. Help.
Hi Sara. You need to use a "walking presser foot". You can order one from sewingpartsonline.com. Then enter "walking presser foot". There will be a list of sewing machines with model numbers off to the side. Here is a link to my tutorial on how to use the foot and how to do quilting stitches: ua-cam.com/video/jEuvmUS-078/v-deo.html Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
I'm going to attempt to make some placemats for the table for Christmas. What kind of cotton batting did you use? I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed when I look online and in stores...
@@TheSewingRoomChannel thanks. I'll have to check it out. I'm super new to sewing and I just want to try making some placemats for the upcoming holidays.
Ok so I got 2 :D fat quarters (because I didn't know how much to ask for & thought these were small enough to handle) I watched vids for cutting...sizing up, making even & then measured old school with little tick marks but ended up somehow losing a 1/2" on the 19" side & hade to do a lot of trimming. It will have to do as it's all the fabric I have...for now. And I seem to have gotten a rotary with a dull blade...sigh. Anyway I'm going to see if my machine works...or rather can I sew a straight line? haha Can you tell I know NOTHING?? LOL. I am determined to learn this pattern if I have to try 100 times +!! :D
Hi Grandmom. If you want the same fabric on top and bottom, you will need about 6 yards. If you want different fabric on top and the bottom, you will need 3 yards of each. Hope this helps. ua-cam.com/video/NRE0d-cmzDw/v-deo.html

Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I'm looking forward to making these for gifts. Please tell me if you prewash your fabric before starting, thank you.
Hi Jan. If you are using cotton fabrics, I would prewash with cool water and a mild detergent. Happy sewing.

What size needle do you use for two layers of favric and cotton batting? Thank you!
Hi Gsofiakleisoura. I use a size 90/14 needle. Thanks for watching 💗 and happy sewing😍

Hi Kathy. The more you practice sewing the better and easier it will get. Hang in there. Happy sewing.
Do you do the quilting with a zigzag foot or your even walking foot?
Hi Phyllis. I use a walking foot because it helps to prevent the fabric layers from shifting. Happy sewing.
How many yards of fabric are needed to make a set of six placemats?
