I´ve never been to Rottweil very nice town. I like this type of video you make. You start with little knowledge and take us with you on your excursions. So we get the feeling to be with you as a friend rather than to be with a gide or a teacher. That wouldn´t be bad either but that way we discover things together and simultaniously. By the way there is one thing I have to teach you: Rottweil lies exactly between the Schwarzwald and the Schwäbische Alb; so when you look east you see the Schwäbische Alb when you look west you see the Schwarzwald.

Rottweilers are considered to be one of the oldest breeds. They came to Germany with the Romans, drove their cattle and guarded outposts. Many were left behind; the breed as we know it today emerged in the southern German town of Rottweil. Rottweilers are classified as part of the Mastiff family.
    I've googled 😉

My guess is that the lantern looking things were for holding saints' bones, or something religious was carried in a procession around the town. If it's a Catholic Church then it's for worship items. We call the process veneration. It's a form of Catholic worship that makes our relationship with God unique.

The stones you see on churches are old gravestones. The graveyards used to be around the church. They were built new outside the old town some time ago. Some of the more beautiful gravestones were preserved and mounted to the church.

It's a shame, if you had come 20 km further south to Villingen-Schwenningen, we could have met up and given you a tour. Villingen, over 1000 years old and with intact city fortifications - Schwenningen, once the clock town of the world. There was a time when it was said that every clock in the world had at least one part that came from Schwenningen.
If you come to southern Germany again, I recommend spring to experience the so-called "Villlinger Fasnet". Feel free to post a community post beforehand and you will receive a full introduction to this 1000-year-old tradition.

"Pufferküsser" is an obsessive humorous word for guys who kiss the front of a train and "Nietenzähler" if you are into Military- or Techhistory. His Opening to the conversation was also something from past 18th Century. Funny Moment.

33:10 : "The Holy Cross parish for their Fallen (soldiers) is the writing. And yes, you were right. The first World War was 1914-1918, and the board in the middle refers the soldiers fallen then, while the boards to the left and right refer to the victims of the second World War.
Crosswalks: The cars do not stop because we Germans are so nice :), it is mandatory. The law says that a car has to stop as soon as seeing a pedestrian attempting to cross the road. If the police watched you not following this law you will have to pay a fine of 80€ and one point in Flensburg.

One should know beforehand which town you are planning to go to. I'm sure you'd find locals who show you around a bit, if you like to.

Richtig cooles Video! Ich wohne tatsächlich nicht weit entfernt von dort, du hast leider mit dem Zug mein Ort übersprungen, doch dort gibt es sowieso nicht viel zu sehen. Mach weiter so, macht Spaß sowas zu sehen.

You have to visit Villingen-Schwenningen. Its, i think, the next stop after Rottweil. We have a beautiful old town in Villingen.

The tree is a salix. In german the trivial name is ,, Trauerweide". Minute 8:27
There are also diffrent other species of salix in Europe. Normally it grows at rivers, on wet surface. Ehm, and the first aspirin was extracted out of it. If you concentrate the acid inside the branches, you will get Acetylcholin. So, acetylacid is inside.
They might grow in Irland too.

Against tear out first you need sharp wood drills, and second a underlay of wood underneath. Tape on both sides of the strop piece where the holes will get drilled holds the wood fibres together agains tear out.
Then I would pre drill with smaller diameter, half or 2/3 of the final diameter (pilot holes).
Make (or let make) a guiding template out of very hard wood (or metal) with perpendicular holes of the desired final diameter.
What I do if a template is too much assle: I have a small piece of wood in wich I hammer a headless nail wich is as perpendicular as possible . I have it close to my drill and line both up (nail and my drill bit).
Then clamp the guiding template + strop piece + underlayer tight together before drilling.
As for the rounding of the edges, I would like them softened. Where the leather is comming out, a very light rounding helps too for longevity of the strip.
Cheers mate, and good luck! 👍
