One of your best vids so far for me… I love to see the neighboring cities of my hometown Stuttgart through your eyes 👍👍👍 Btw: What you pointed at at the vineyard gate looks like the Esslingen coat of arms (the imperial eagle) During the times of the Holy Roman Empire for a long period of time Esslingen wasn’t part of the duchery of Württemberg, but was subject only to the Emperor himself with respect to jurisdiction. That is why you‘ll find this eagle being part of different coats of arms of other „Freie Reichsstädte“ like Esslingen. Keep on filming dude 👏👏👏

The locomotive in green and white livery was a former DB Baureihe 212 Diesel-hydraulic engine (Deutsche Bundesbahn Type V100, later 212). The livery seems to be restored to the one of the 1970ies and 1980ies. Those engines were used for heavy shunting and light railway line traffic with freight and regional trains. It's porbably around 60-65 years old, possibly the Diesel motor has been replaced by a new one due to stricter emission requirements. You get to see them only rarely nowadays. It seems to have been pulling some track construction or maintainance vehicle.
the fact that you randomly stumbled into the Einhorn after walking through the whole Altstadt cracks me up. for context: if anyone asked me for a recommendation to try good authentic local food, that's the place I would have recommended.

Hi Conner, I can highly recommend that you come back to Esslingen in winter, because right next to the Christmas market is the famous medieval market in the centre of the old town. Hot mead, axe throwing, fire artists... is very worthwhile. (Very crowded at the weekend though). Its from 26 November to 22 December 2024

Very fun to see you explore what is so normal for me! I grew up near Esslingen and still live there today. Esslingen has a very mixed reputation, which is sad because it is very beautiful and has alot of history. You missed some of my favorite spots tho, like "little Venedig" thats pretty much right next to the church at 12:50 and my favorite street you would've gotten to if you went straight at 6:00. So I can only recommend you to come back sometime. if you do, step by at KOMMA, we will welcome you with open arms
Ive watched sooo many "americans visit" videos. Heres a common denominator afaik. Girls are doing the Instagram tour. The cafés, the thrift stores and the food markets. Its cool and spotless. Guys doing random stuff like hiking, watching trucks and maybe eating a sandwich on some local pier. Also...keep walking and experience Denmark and Sweden. Its absolutely within walking distance
Hey man, great video 👍👍especially the city and restaurant. One thing I noticed on you: you don't chew your food a lot. Try to chew it 20 times. The flavours will come out even better.

You are so enthusiastic, that's cute! As a German who lived in Esslingen for many years I know many more beautiful places and corners in and around Esslingen. Nice to see you in Germany again, Conner! You also definitely have to take a look at France right behind the German border. Places like Colmar or Strasbourg are so beautiful.
Back in the days, i lived there, i called it Stresslingen. 'Cause the people there where rushing through the streets especially at the trainstation and some of them where looking for stress like messing around...😅

You need to come back to Esslingen for the Christmas market. They even have a small medival Christmas market. And yeeees: visit Tübingen, my hometown. You will love it.
52:54 hey Conner, I went to school in the city center of Esslingen and the name of the school is actually Georgii-Gymnasium. Theodor Georgii was an important protagonist in the german gymnastics movement of the 19th century, which was actually pretty huge. fun fact: founded in 1267, Georgii-Gymnasium is one of the oldest schools in Germany.
Super fun to watch, I grew up and lived in Esslingen for 22 years and I'm working in Tübingen for quite some years now. I got kind of blind for the things you see, while walking through the two cities. Should be more attentive again, while walking.
As a German myself, i went one day to Bremen and visit the "Schnoor Gäschen". Even i felt like in a fairytale village where any moment Gnomes and Unicorns sit behind any corner. ^^
Esslinger Grauburgunder - I have to try that wine - wonder if he really calls you to help plucking grapes - I did it ones and loved it in good company🍷🍾
Can't really count how often i have been to Esslingen, living only 10 minutes away. Thousands of times? And seeing all the history gets me every time, curious if you walk past the building Paracelsus one lived in (alchemist, lay theologian, philosopher and the "Father of Toxicology. True Renaissance Man), and now back to watching @connorsully
... next, you have to visit Nürtingen, Tübingen, Nagold, Herrenberg, Bad Urach, Kircheim unter Teck...😅 and the Lake Constance rgion with Konstanz, Überlingen, Meersburg...
I was born in Esslingen, you should have studied a little about its history- it was a free city and very important for cultivation of wine. What you saw near the church was not a well, its Kessler Sekt ( Champaign) and they store till today champain in the huge cellars, this is a device to transport the bottles upwards, and so on and so forth…😊
schön, dass du vorbei gekommen bist. :-) try "zwiebel" (diy-chef, but passionated a.f.), "kleine traube" (zwiebelrostbraten), or "emil" (maultaschen) on your next visit. if they have still the same quality, highly recommended.
I live in that area and i actually have been to the winecellar restaurant years ago. They had some really good deer filet with some raspberry sauce, one of the few times i tried wild meat. Not sure how long you're in the southwest of germany but if you're staying longer or plan to come back i highly recommend a couple of other places not far from Esslingen: Deutsches Haus Gruibingen (German Food) La Vecchia Taverna Oberboihingen (Italian Food) Tokio Dining or the Kicho in Stuttgart (Japanese Food) 5 Stuttgart (Michelin Star, so this one is expensive) Burgrestaurant Hohen Neuffen (Restaurant in a Medieval Fortress/Caste built ~800 years ago)

Hey Conner, You’re a really nice and thoughtful young man! Thank you so much for your kindness and interest in German culture. We did a lot of bad things here. Therefore we appreciate it bigly that someone like you still can see some good in us and our country. It’s an honour 🙂. - I love the USA. It‘s the greatest country in the world - no dout! All the best to you ❤
its so cool seeing you explore these lovely lovely towns and other places, many of which i still want to visit myself too,the way the video is uncut done is also superb broski, cheers from holland!
Cheers! 🍻
I screamed out when he missed to go to that alley LOL. But actually he kinda saw 80% of the city right away without a guide or map
I love how excited you are🙌
Ive watched sooo many "americans visit" videos.
Hi Conner, like your way of videos documenting you experiencing Germny. May be you can meet Nick Alfiery (aka NALF) in Schwäbisch Hall....
This is what it looks like when you are in a country that has a culture that has grown over a long period of time.
I really really like this video i watched the whole video i like to see it from from your eyes
Oh, it's like Disneyland! 😍💖
No, it's Germany. 😊
Hey man, great video 👍👍especially the city and restaurant. One thing I noticed on you: you don't chew your food a lot. Try to chew it 20 times. The flavours will come out even better.
Haha! Good observation I need to work on it. I was really hungry so I forgot to chew 😂
Great Video, Connor. Yeah Esslingen is a nice City. Come Back for the Medieval Christmasmarket in December. ;-)
I work here and you show me lots of new things xD amazing man love ur vibe
Thanks for showing us german cities👍 I am from Baden Württemberg but never been in Esslingen
You definitely have to visit Tübingen, if you are still in this area
25:11 Absolutely correct. I live in Kernen im Remstal, less than 15 kilometers away, and it is suggested to me. But I realize that I'm far too rarely in Esslingen for how beautiful the city is.
It is also nice for us in Germany how enthusiastic you are about our region here. Visit Breisach next! It's very beautiful there
Looking forward to you harvesting the grapes 🙂 Nice video!
nice review - my hometown! =) Been living here since 1987 and never visited the "Einhorn Weinkeller". Will do that with my girl tonight - thanks dude :D
You are welcome! Hope you enjoy! It’s a great atmospher!
Finally you found the most beautiful town in Baden-Württemberg!
I wouldn't say that, there are also Schwäbisch Hall, Tübingen and especially Heidelberg
Hallo Connor Sullivan! ---- D A N K E !!!!!!! ----
1:18:08 Würfelzwerg. One of the most beautiful boardgame/tabletop/pen & paper/trading card game shops ever.
1:28:42 Würfelzwerg again.
Also: The Stadtkirche St. Dionys IS open, but it's always a side door on the right side of the building.
Great Video from " Esslenga"..Esslingen...tolles Video...Grüsse aus Stuttgart..
You should definately come back for the grape harvest and make a vid out of this aswell. Always great to connect with people and then get an inside view and not just looking from the outside in.
You are so enthusiastic, that's cute! As a German who lived in Esslingen for many years I know many more beautiful places and corners in and around Esslingen. There are some hidden treasures hardly anyone discoveres. I can also recommend a walk from Esslingen through the vineyards to the grave chapel of King Wilhelm in Rotenberg. Maybe you visit Esslingen again - have fun! And thanks for this wonderful video. 🤗👍
Haha this is cool. I'm from Stuttgart. I've eaten at the Wine Cellar Unicorn before as well. It was great!
Come to Ludwigsburg/Asperg bro, we got two amazing castles here
i live 30min away from there...and it's funny how you get used to it and think it's nothing special or normal to have houses that are 500+ years old. so nice to see it from an other perspective 👍🏻
Nice to see you in Germany again, Conner!
You also definitely have to take a look at France right behind the German border. Places like Colmar or Strasbourg are so beautiful.
26:00 yea it was built by hans solo 😂 love your videos ❤
Great video!
Hope you enjoyed your stay. Its not really a Studentenstadt though. :D
Back in the days, i lived there, i called it Stresslingen. 'Cause the people there where rushing through the streets especially at the trainstation and some of them where looking for stress like messing around...😅
i life in esslingen, u defentily should have a look at the midage and christmas market in esslingen, starting in november, its one of the oldest an nicest places u can imagine
You need to come back to Esslingen for the Christmas market. They even have a small medival Christmas market.
And yeeees: visit Tübingen, my hometown. You will love it.
Yes that would be epic
Haven't been to Esslingen, I prefer Bamberg in Frankonia. Maybe you should check that out as well.
Love it
Super fun to watch, I grew up and lived in Esslingen for 22 years and I'm working in Tübingen for quite some years now. I got kind of blind for the things you see, while walking through the two cities. Should be more attentive again, while walking.
I lived in Esslingen 50 years ago. Really nice city
As a German myself, i went one day to Bremen and visit the "Schnoor Gäschen". Even i felt like in a fairytale
village where any moment Gnomes and Unicorns sit behind any corner. ^^
I like the way he enjoys the Maultaschen! 😃
I live in Esslingen and i love my city! Thank you for your wonderful content!!!
Bro, hope you spend your whole life here watching haha. Come to Bavaria. Welcome Bro. STRAUBING REGENSBURG :D
schön, dass du vorbei gekommen bist. :-)
try "zwiebel" (diy-chef, but passionated a.f.), "kleine traube" (zwiebelrostbraten), or "emil" (maultaschen) on your next visit. if they have still the same quality, highly recommended.
I live in that area and i actually have been to the winecellar restaurant years ago.
They had some really good deer filet with some raspberry sauce, one of the few times i tried wild meat.
Not sure how long you're in the southwest of germany but if you're staying longer or plan to come back i highly recommend a couple of other places not far from Esslingen:
Deutsches Haus Gruibingen (German Food)
La Vecchia Taverna Oberboihingen (Italian Food)
Tokio Dining or the Kicho in Stuttgart (Japanese Food)
5 Stuttgart (Michelin Star, so this one is expensive)
Burgrestaurant Hohen Neuffen (Restaurant in a Medieval Fortress/Caste built ~800 years ago)
