I have a 1955 feathercraft vagabond 14 ft long v bow with I believe what's called a barrel bottom . It's only rated for a 35 but I said nah we need more so I swapped it out with a 95 model 70 Johnson with power trim and some work done to it pushing closer to 80 my guess . That little guy will fly !!! Can't get up to 3/4 throttle even anything over 50 is very unstable . Still working on her I'm gonna hit 70 in that boat or hope to ! Enjoyed the vid
61.5 mph on a 15 ft jon boat is absolutely amazing bro nice job! do you think she’d handle the honda bf100 VTEC 4stroke outboard? its definitely the smallest lightest 4 stroke outboard at 100hp since it shares platform with their 75 & 90hp outboards.
Thank you! Id sure like to see what they would do! I bet it will roll! Ima stick with my two stroke for now just because when it breaks I can fix it! Lots cheaper to work on!
I've got an 84 mariner 90 inline 6 2 stroke on a 16 foot bassboat. I cant wait to get it on the water. I got the whole boat for 500 bucks. Runs, drives and floats. But i gotta rebuild the carbs! I was told it hauls ass! I'm not a fan of the boat. So the motor is gonna go on a John.
What's the minimum width jon boat you'd recommend for one of these "big power" kind of builds, and what's the max power you'd say is relatively safe? I saw some dudes put a 2 stroke 200 on what I presume was a 1448.
It’s all up to your personal preference. But for me I like a 1553. Anything smaller seems sketchy anything bigger is too large for my liking. But to each their own!
Wow! And wanted to say I learned from this that u need a set back for too much HP on a boat. I have a brand new Merc 40 on a really light 16ft that was too much. Would lift and torque steer hard left like this does, but even adjusting height 1" above bottom of boat it would bounce with a guy in front.
Mainly top end, I’ve got a hunt prop. I have a bobs kick and Jack 6 inch setback I was going to try a 22p cleaver but wondering all what you’ve ran, thanks
Boat width plays a big factor too. Guy on UA-cam put a 225hp merc on one. Motor is too heavy and too powerful to to hold it at high rpm. I’ve seen a few 115-130hp v4 Yamahas on a 15ft run like a scalded dog
Any trick to getting it to run so flat my boat bounces bad when trim is up where it should be to get good speed... trim tabs weight distribution or different boat?
Try a hydrofoil and more set back. Prop set up and motor height is the most important thing. Put all your weight in the back gas battery and all. It sounds like you’d see better performance lowering your motor some but hard to say with out seeing it!
Don't get me wrong...i like goin fast too...but i also like being alive. Seeing how fast you can push a tin boat seems like asking for a bad day. One very tiny mistake or unfortunate unavoidable circumstance gets multiplied on an overpowered boat at speed.
@@videomaker8207 I have no complaints! If it’s a sharp turn obviously will have to trim down some but a good prop makes the world of difference there as well

Looks like I found the boat I want 🔥
Whoa! Shes moving out! Be careful brother!
Okay dang that thing moves out, and I thought my 1448 with a johnson 40 was rippin
I had a 1448 with an Etec 40 and go 38mph WOT. I managed to crack the transom hitting a 3foot wave on MilleLacs. Miss that boat/motor combo.

Mercury 2 stroke will go forever and ever as well

How much setback are you running your motor at ?
Lmao. Oh my what fun. Going to flip that rocket before he's had enough. I bet he's pushing 55 In a Jon boat hahahahaha go get em tiger

What kind of bracing did you do to the transom

Where do u get parts for it?? I have a 1991 85 2 stroke can’t find trigger for it
Check eBay or call around marine scrap yards around coastal areas
