    I wish I was the lucky person who finds that yellow dress in a charity shop, I would wear it everyday! 💛 I love that everyones 'stapels' are different, it makes me happy for all the unworn clothes out there, and if we all shop and give away at charity shops more often, every item can find his true home 🍀

    I’ve done the “buy jeans a size smaller” thing, and then just had jeans that are too small and uncomfortable. Just get your normal size.

    • @greenlandgem
      @greenlandgem 3 роки тому +10

      Exactly! If they stretch, you can either blast them on high in the dryer or, if you're being really clever, tailor them down and in the process get a perrrrrrfect fit.

      I know... I bought a nice pair of high-waisted jeans that I was prepared to wear constantly, and I tried, but they never stretched properly and ultimately I avoided wearing them :(

    If you end up staining the white pants, you could probably dye them depending on what material they are :0) my friend spilled red sauce on their favorite grey pants and now they’re their favorite light pink pants after a bottle of dye and some patience 😅👏🏻

    this year i stocked up on these puffed blouses and some light yellow pieces, because it is exactly what I want to wear and will wear for at least the next 5 years. I have been waiting for a decade that they make them like this. I have worn these pieces every day since I bought them and I am still excited about them and look forward to wear them again next spring and summer.
    I stock up like every 5 years when there is aparticular color or cut trending that I love.

    Regret:
    1)a pair of men's jeans that are a little bit small. they aren't awful, just not the best fit. I still wear them sometimes, just not as much as my other jeans. i do appreciate the pocket size.
    2) rainbow crop top. Its nice but it's a bit short to wear on its own. I do get a lot of use out of it because i love to layer a black tanktop over it, for a sort of y2k look, but i wish i had gotten a size up so i could wear it on its own if i wanted.
    3)black button up polo. Someone gave it to me, and it is comfy, so i don't regret it too much, but polo really isnt my style. Sometimes i like to wear a t shirt over it and have the collar sticking out, but i don't like it otherwise.
    enough of the negative. Lets end on a positive note.
    hero pieces:
    1) red jeans. I saw them at the thrift store when i went to buy a jacket and i told myself "no, i only came here for the jacket." and then left. A month later they were still there, so i went ahead and bought them (they were only $5) and they are now my favorite jeans.
    2) checkered vans. I got them for my birthday and i love them to death. They definately have become quite worn, but they are still useful, and i will probably wear them past the point they should be thrown out. I've never had a problem with their pattern clashing with the rest of outfit.
    3) black healed booties. They are quite plain, but they really do elavate an outfit. Unlike jenny, i find thick heals to be rather comfy. They also have anti-slip tread, so they are good in the rain, and since they are platforms, they keep my feet out of the puddles. i think a tall heal like that immidately dresses up a more casual outfit.
    4) gray fleece shirt. this is another one i never really wear on its own, but boy am i glad i have it. it is the softest warmest material. I usual wear it under outfits when it's cold, but i don't want to wear a jacket that would cover up my outfit. Also works if it's extra cold, so then i can wear both the fleece shirt and a jacket. Also works great as a pajama shirt.

    I took a long-sleeve white cotton button-up shirt from Mum's wardrobe that she'd had since the 80s. I wore it so much that it became thread-worn and I had a bit of a KonMari moment where I thanked it for all it had done for me before turning it into rags. I haven't been able to find a top like it since, but seeing your linen white/black/blue collection made me realise it's possible!

    I absolutely regret buying a pair of Superga sneakers. I feel like they would fit you so much better than me. It was more of an impulsive purchase as I haven't had figured out my style at the time; therefore, I actually regret a lot of purchases. I always compare it to the psychological phenomenon of exploration and commitment (adolescence), even though you can, of course, change your style as often as you wish. Greetings from Germany xx

    I agree re-heels and white, I can’t wear either - I trip in heels and spill on whites immediately. Love that vegan coat, it is gorgeous and looks so COZY!!!!! For me a recent regret buy (online) was a slightly sparkly beige woolly poncho - super adorable, but heavy as heck, ugh! A recent hero buy was blue suede combat-style boots with a lug heel that make me happy with the pop of color and go with everything, I can’t stop wearing them! Love your videos! 😊

  • @noshka

    Nice video as always
    I think you could easily dye the yellow dress if you like it that much, it’s gorgeous !
    Honestly I’m a big picky shopper so I barely have any regrets, the rare times I do buy something a little more « extra » or casual I do love it but I would say my regrets buy are buying something too similar with something I already own, as I naturally go for the same things, I end up with multiple beige/grey plain jumper that are almost exactly the same or black high waist jeans that I can’t even tell the difference between

    regret piece: long cardigans, they're impossible to pair when you don't wear coats because they look silly under a shorter piece of outerwear, I can't close them so I get cold and they just lie in my drawer ... their nice colors and soft but I only wore them ONCE. such a fail

    Personally, as a zero waster, I find a lot of products that are in the community, especially on Instagram, are very much tailored to consumption. Not many people talk about using up what you have and upcycling things first! Or just good old minimization of consumption : ). Like what is the point of buying cloth napkins or swiffer pads when you can cut up an old t-shirt and make one in 30 seconds? Never made sense to me and definitely there are things along those lines that I regret buying.

    After seeing this video I bought the FRONTROW X RECTO reversible vegan coat (I needed a new winter jacket in any case, have been looking for a while) and I have to say the quality is EXQUISITE. I'm not sure if I will keep it yet as it doesn't look as amazing on me as on you. I'm also used to "closed" sleeves that are windproof when cycling; I'm Dutch so I need that haha. But maaan it is a hard decision. It's such a good coat in general. And as I have no idea what I'll be doing in the next few months so I don't even know if I'll be cycling a lot. If you have tips (if you read this), please let me know haha. I'm torn 😂

    Hello Jenny. What do you think about color analysis (12 types) to avoid color fashion trap? I went to some proffesionalist and I m a soft summer. I changed my blouses and I noticed and also my close persons that I look much better. Cpuld record a video about it? I m curios of your opinion.

    I dye or bleach out colors I do not like anymore. It can be done on synthetics too. I have many pieces I won't wear because I'm afraid of spills or pet tears. Fabric protector wash does work.

    I've lost a lot of weight as a result of major health changes and don't have the budget to get a new wardrobe of sustainable clothing (sad). Watching other people with their pieces makes me happy! {I've been surviving with belts, and got some things on super clearance thrifted or secondhand earlier this year, but have since gotten even smaller so every pair of pants I own is too big! US 8 --> US 2}

    i regret getting really cute denim dungarees in size s right before puberty coz now i can't pull them past my hips and have to give them away, but my hero piece is a h&m blue asian fit jeans that slide easily over my wide hips, fit snugly at my narrow waist and isn't too loose or too tight even after puberty.
    another hero piece is a pair of black high top sneakers i got on sale, they go so well with everything and make my outfits seem more put together

    I don't have any regrets pieces because I am so picky when I shop and I immediately return the item if they are not ideal in any shape or form 😆
    But I do have a hero piece that I bought recently from Gap. It is a white, thick, crew neck, tight knit sweater. I wish they had it in navy blue too because as you said spilling may cause problems. But if I wear white tops a lot anyways so that's a risk I am willing to take!

    My only regret was buying white shirt dress with pifdy sleeves. I though it would be sooooo cool and it was but! I wanted to roll up the sleeves to make them even more puffy but it was imposible :( they were so tight near my hands that it was super uncomfortable to roll them up and when I puree them down it wasn’t the look i was looking for.

    my regrets this year are 2 jean jackets i got last august, a simple black one and a blue one with fleece
    i wore the blue one a little more because it was my only chill weather but not winter piece, but the black one barely got any wear and it was quite expensive for what it is (and for my general buget)
    i now almost hate the look of jean jackets but i'm trying to give them another chance in case i change my mind next year

    my regret pieces were often the thriftshop vintage pieces that looked cute, for ridiculous prices but were totally out of my style (like think winter pink secretary-like skirt or blouse of a terrible 80s sack-like poly material). Bought them, never wore them, gave them to charity. Now I only buy things in colors I actually wear and like and first thing I care about is material - is it soft,comfy and fluffy? Will I be able to sit in it in my office the whole day without sweat stains? Comfort first!

  • @mimmikibilly
    @mimmikibilly 3 роки тому +9

    One thing that makes me decide to use certain items only a few times a year is that I tend to have anxiety-driven sweat, so wearing silk or poly tops and wool blazers can be tricky and wasteful. Putting period pads where the armpits sit is a trick that works, but it isn't worth it for every time I want to wear these items, especially since I don't go much outside except for my volunteering activities. I usually try to use my most well-kept pieces for the sparse occasions I get to spend time with my friends.

    • @TheGofia
      @TheGofia 3 роки тому +2

      I’ve heard that you can get botox in your armpits and other sweaty places to limit the sweating.

    • @mimmikibilly
      @mimmikibilly 3 роки тому +1

      @@TheGofia I don't think it's healthy though. The thought of jnjecting botox in my armpits doesn't sound appealing to me. I accepted that my body is like this. Thank you for caring though.

    • @MindOfMine.
      @MindOfMine. 3 роки тому +1

      I also heard that if you put the item in a vinegar with water bucket to soak, the sweat will get out. After that you can wash it. Haven't tried it myself yet.

    • @mimmikibilly
      @mimmikibilly 3 роки тому

      @@MindOfMine. I will try, but I'm afraid it could ruin some fabrics. I know it works for cat hair though, if you put the vinegar with laundry soap.

    • @MindOfMine.
      @MindOfMine. 3 роки тому +1

      @@mimmikibilly Yeah it's a risk. But if you don't wear it anyway, there's nothing to lose :) And I hear some people use vinegar as fabric softener in the washing machine as well.

      Vegans don't wear, use or consume animals or their products. We eschew anything that belongs to animals like honey, silk, leather and wool. 💚🌿

    • @rosesofamerica
      @rosesofamerica 3 роки тому

      Unfortunately the production process for wool is often really unethical and cruel for the animals, so many vegans avoid it altogether when they can’t be sure of its source/ethics.

    • @codasign
      @codasign 3 роки тому +5

      I can't speak for Jenny's unique perspective on this, but I know many vegans (myself included) feel that any type of transactional relationship with animals leads to commodifying and objectifying them. Unfortunately, due to market forces, profit almost always becomes the primary motive and animal welfare suffers (smaller living spaces, separating mothers and babies, slaughtering animals once they're no longer profitable). Most vegans believe that animals do not exist to provide for humans in any way and should not be used for those purposes.
