Petra Marko's masterclass at Utopian Hours 2023

Architect, designer, placemaker. Petra Marko presented at Utopian Hours her 'Meanwhile City', a book-manifesto produced together with Milk, a young multidisciplinary collective from Bratislava dedicated to urban storytelling.
Marko's talk reinterprets the concept of the temporary. The author reviews a series of cases of temporary placemaking, showing how over time these projects have grown to become rooted in the history and identity of an entire city.
The advantages of 'starting out' with temporary transformations are many, starting with low costs and greater flexibility.
Sometimes very little is needed. In Bratislava, the 'Take a seat!' project was based, quite simply, on a chair: an invitation to sit down, bringing food and drink from home. All that is needed to activate a community.
Petra Marko in this edition of the festival was chosen as the international guest to lead a workshop with students, professionals and urban regeneration enthusiasts.
