    About Blur:
    Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in (1997) and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
    Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

    Interesting fact: In early 1995 Justine's dad brought her a 4-storey terraced house in Notting Hill, and she and Damon moved in. They lived there until they split up - I think that was 1998 - so for 4 years they were a couple residing in the property. I know the exact house, I think she still owns it but she now lives in America and has done for some years. Blur fans will know what this song is about, Damon has definitely admitted to taking certain substances, and Justine more or less admitted having done so too. It's interesting to walk past that house, to look at the lounge and think "It happened here..."

    I love that most songs on this album include hidden tracks or demos at the end. Caramel does it the best in my opinion since there are 3 different songs here and they're all totally different. It's like taking a real bad drug trip, nothing lasts long and your imagination takes you somewhere else. it's dreamlike but turned nightmare, especially considering so much of 13 is based off the cataclysmic breakup with Damon and Justine. She's the one who introduced heroin to him in the first place and it couldn't be more thematically appropriate than here.

      There's been times I've listen to an album whilst half asleep on the train, and when I slip back into consciousness I feel like I've ended up at a completely different song but the track number hasn't changed...and then I'm like whoa, that is time? That's what hidden music can do.

    Sometimes i feel like Tender doesn't belong 13 at all... I don't know, most of the songs are very experimental and dark somewhat

      Tender is far more fitting than Coffee and TV, at least. I love that song, but it sounds more like something off of Blur or maybe The Great Escape

      @mmtz3051 3 роки тому +4

      @@hobowithanoboe I kinda relate with you, Coffee & TV doesn't fit the album that much (yes, it'd fit more in the self-titled). But Tender isn't more fitting in my opinion, it's like a relief, but it's too positive for me i think(?
      I like the dark atmosphere in 13, and i think that Tender as an opener is a good idea, since it's one of the most easy-listening song in the album i guess, but its energy doesn't fit (to me) with the overall sound of the album.
      Good luck reading this, i don't know how to express my idea properly, and my first language isn't English, so is probably that you'll find lots of mistakes lol

    Part of the holy trinity thats Battle, Caramel and Trimm Trabb; here everything is on point: alarm-like, siren-like, even metronome like fifths in the guitar, a ghostly harmonium, gloomy lyrics, a slow buildup to restless drums and bass before the explosive catharsis that pays off. Two contrasting episodes follow, an we're carried away from this trip, forced to move on

    Esta cancion refleja el sentimiento de 13; superacion. De una voz melancolica de Damon Albarn a unos gospel que se le une la euforia de Damon con la produccion de William Orbit, que mas se le puede pedir, obra maestra.
