This new $30 mod changes the entire look of your Dodge Challenger. Today, I show you how to install LED lighting on the inside of the shaker of my 2017 Dodge Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker. Ultimately the mod cost me about $30. Was it worth the 30 dollars?... Find out in today's video! It was a pretty quick installation (the hardest part was filming the video) and I absolutely love the result! It just adds a really cool touch to the Shaker! So if you have an R/T Shaker or Scat Pack Shaker then you should definitely consider installing this modification. It's well worth the time and money! DM and follow me on Instagram @SchwayZ_ if you have any questions or just want to see more pics of the Challenger!

Pretty cool Mod. I wanna do my 2020 50th anniversary wide body shaker. As a professional mechanic and custom installer, Ive only seen a couple of things you didnt cover. The shaker has to be removed at oil changes. Extra slack to set it aside and cover the wiring in protective loom tubing all the way thru so theres no chance of pinching wiring on reinstall. Also those blue scotch locks are junk. They Will loose connection over time due to corrosion. I would use a 2 wire quick connect and a 2 amp fuse holder at the headlight plug so it can be quickly removed if the shaker has to be compleatly removed. other than that it has a badass effect. I hope this info will help others that want to do it Trouble free.
Thanks for watching and for the advice! Agreed on the removal of the lights when you have to get an oil change. There is a quick disconnect on the lights i purchased so it can be removed in the airtube during oil changes and then reconnected after. How would you use the 2 wire quick connects to tap into the headlights? I may be looking at the wrong ones but the ones im seeing won't tap into the headlight wire.
I'm definitely going to put a disconnect inside the shaker housing for removal. The best way to connect to the headlight harness is solder and tape. No need for another disconnect. Just pull the harness out of base if it needs to be removed.
Couldnt you just put the extra wire inaide the shaker hood? That way, when removing the shaker, there is enough wire to set it aside.
@@OSheaShenanigans there is ! And a 2 wire plug for complete removal
@@robfranke1 oh that is even better! Where can I get something like that? O'reilly? Autozone?
After I installed this and drove around for about 15-20 min the led got really dim. They worked perfectly and were bright but I'm concerned if all of the heat from the engine affects the product?
Nice addition. I'd invest in a set of sockets.
Haha yeah tell me about it. Still a lot of things I need to buy for the new place
Man for 30 bucks this is a must 💯💯 great job keep grinding 🤝🤝💯💯
Right?! Thank you my man! Appreciate the support as always 🙏
man thats something im going to do asap when i get my challenger. i want like a red thats „breathing“ just getting brighter and darker to simulate the engine breathing
Yeah it's so awesome! I love the red 😍 thank you for watching! 🙏
Ugh, my head hurts...using a cresent wrench instead of a socket and running live lines through an intake.....😫😩
The pulsing red works best
I bought the same set but mine dont work unless the remote is pointing directly at the sensor. Any ideas?
did you make a quick connect from the cig lighter wires to larger gauge...looks like some kind of connector between the black and white 12v to the black and red wires?
Yeah I used quick comment to attach the wires to the headlights
Love the red! Great mod, gotta do this to mine as well
Bro I watched you video on this at least 100 times! My scat pack shaker should be here in a week or so and this will be the first mode for sure.
That's awesome man! You're going to love it I'm sure
Dope mod, idk if its me or not but mine just wont connect and turn on the lights lol spliced it into the same cords and all
The splitters that OP uses is enough to cut through the headlight wire insulation but the LED wire is too thin for it. If you go back and open your splitter up, you'll see it only pinched the led wire but didn't cut into it.
What I did was strip the led wire, twist it, then folded it back onto itself and twisted it up, creating a thicker, twisted wire that the splitter could hold on to.
@@mr.cellophane6550 Furshure! I'll try that out next time, that does make more sense
Hell yeah, I need this on my scat 😁 awesome video bro
U skipped how u got the red and black wire . And how far in do u push the wired into the harness of the headlight
Got to love cheap mods! Looks great!
Thank you my man!
thank you so much for the install video bro! youre the best!y
Glad you liked it man!
I suppose installing these in a stock 2017 T/A hood scoop, you'd run the wires all the way near the hinges or something, somehow...
Great install video! Learning alot from you!
I even know what socks NOT to buy. 🤣
Lol hey it's office attire. Fits with dress pants, not athletic shorts lol
Did the lights still hold up alright?
You did the wire crimp connectors wrong other than that looks good
thank you for the video. I'm waiting on my last call 2023 Sublime green Swinger I am putting this on for sure. Can you give us an update? are they dimmer with heat? do they grow dimmer with time? would you have bought another brand if you could do it over? thanks
Unfortunately I sold the car but have used a different pair of lights on the exterior of my new car for over a year and they still work great
This is the worst thing anyone can do the heat from the engine will make the 3m unstick and the lights will be melted onthe engine causing a wire fire smell . .
I did this for my shaker. Thanks for the vid.BUT people have been telling me not to put the wires through thr intake...might melt? I guess what do you think?
I don't think that should be an issue. The intake temperature shouldn't get high enough to melt wires
That would also look really cool with a raised shaker
Red lights on the front of car, probably illegal.
Yep it is that's why I don't put the red lights on while I'm driving
Tried to install but for some reason could not get them to work
Do you have a video of you adding the pods to the headlight air inlets, I want to do that to mine, the light looks very consistent around the inlet. Where do you stick the LEDs? Also, I have an RT, are my air inlets different then Scat packs?
Yep I do! If you go back to the video titled "New Mod: How to Install Fastys garage lighted headlight air inlet tubes" you'll see the details. They aren't pods. It's the entire ring that is sold separately and lights up. You should be able to fit them onto any 2015 and up Challenger
Thank you so much. And now i am going to prank someone and pull them over 👮 🤣
How did you connect to the headlight? I’m not seeing how there is a connection. Did you have to cut or splice into the headlight wire?
If you use the quick splice connector you will attach the wire from the pods and the headlight wire by crimping down on the connector
I like the mod but I would want to have it on without having my headlights on. To be able to turn it on whenever I want. Looks really cool in red. My Challenger is Hellraisin Purple
I agree, I'm going to do the same, except my shaker lights will be wired in with the air inlet lights from Fastys. I intend to run a hidden outlet from the shaker itself, so it won't interfere with anything. More than one way to skin a cat!
That's sick! Too bad I don't have a shaker lol 😢
Haha yeah unfortunately it only works on those models but you could use the light in your grill if you like the look. Thank you for watching!
@@SchwayZ Right on bro!
Going to do this to mine. Looks like you cut the cigarette lighter portion or power adapter out and solder the red and black wire to it. Is this correct. ? Did you just cut the wire and had 2 wires inside the harness? I also see they are not weatherproof. How did they hold up. ?? Thanks. Bud.
So I removed the red and black wires from the cigarette lighter adaptor/12V adaptor and then i used a quick splice connector to tap the red wire from the lights to the positive on the headlights and the black wire from the lights to the ground on the headlights. You will just feed the wires into the quick splice connector and then fold over the flap and crimp down. Dont crimp down too hard or else you could cut through the whole wire. In terms of weatherproofing I never had any issues but you can also wrap the wiring section with electrical wire to reduce the amount of moisture in that section. You don't get too much moisture in that area
@@SchwayZ
Thanks so much for the response. I thought that’s what you did with the cigarette lighter just wanted to make sure. And I’ve used the quick crimps before so shouldn’t be a problem. It would be cool if it could run with the car off but then you would have to run it to a constant power source with a switch. Not worth the hassle. Lol. Thanks again for the reply. I’ll let you know how it goes. Much appreciated. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Appreciate it man! If you want you can run it to the fuse box. That way it can always be on and you can shut it off with the remote. I actually did that in a recent video on my new car with lights that I installed on the grill. I'm not sure if your lights are long enough but if you curious on that process this is the link for that video
ua-cam.com/video/u0Nyb7ynwUQ/v-deo.html
What is that center sensor on your grill it almost looks like a light?
It's adaptive cruise control. It's an option
Not sure if you’ll see this but I got these and did everything you did but mine won’t turn on even though the wires are snug in the splicer, any ideas on why they won’t turn on?
Hmm did you test the lights by hard wiring them prior to connecting them in the splicer? Maybe the insulation on the wires is preventing a good connection
I had the same issue with mine. Just installed them yesterday. I opened the splicer up and noticed the gauge of the led wire is too thin to get cut by the splicer.
What I did was strip about 1.5" of the led wire, twist it, then fold it onto itself (onto the stripped portion) and twisted more so I basically create a thick, twisted wire that will hold well in the splitter.
Purple looks good
Will the remote work from inside the Car?
Not likely unless you somehow install the IR sensor inside the vehicle. The IR sensor really only works if the remote has a direct line of sight to the sensor itself
In my culture we call it ملحجة
DUDE THANKS A MIILLION!!!!!
How are they holding up to the weather, such as rain? It says, there not waterproof. I was thinking of doing the same mod, but don't want them to die after the first rain or car wash.
They are holding up great. I've taken it through several car washes without any problem. They should be water resistant but regardless I haven't had problems
Hey man. Shaker is wired up. Did a test by putting wires into port 2 and 7 and it's running the test where it flickers through all the colors. Remote doesn't seem to do anything. Any advice?
Hmm I wonder if the lights are in some demo mode? Is there a tab or something to pull on the remote to activate it?
@SchwayZ_ yeah there was. They are doing the same thing they did when in the box with the "try me" button. I'll have to google how to get them out before i splice this in
@@JayVig yeah that is really weird. I got my lights at O'Reilly and they didn't seem to have that mode when I clicked the remote around. Maybe the battery on the remote is bad? Or maybe it's some weird setting
@SchwayZ_ fixed. The IR receiver from the remote wasn't getting signal. Wiped it down. All good.
Got it! That makes sense! Yeah the sensor sometimes doesn't read well depending on where you put it
Why didn't you use the wrench they put in the glove box for the shaker
Unfortunately I didn't have one. I'm thinking the previous owner jacked it
@@SchwayZ that sucks but the mod is very cool
@@haroldwilson4489 thanks man!
Sick
I would end up electrocuting myself. 😓 this looks so good tho!!!! ❤
Worse case scenario...you get hit with 14 volts
Access denied. Where else can i find those LED to buy?
Good job btw.
If the link doesn't work then you can search LED light strip/pod on O'Reilly or AutoZone site and see if they have it. Otherwise I would check your local auto parts store. Hope that helps! Thank you for watching! 🙏
Menards, meijer, walmart, amazon just to name a few
@@consuelaalvarez4861 got already
Those squeeze splices don't work long.
Yeah they aren't great but the easiest option to tap into the light without soldering. My other ones have lasted almost a year now so as long as it's not exposed or constantly getting moved around you will be fine
I worked as an electrician for many years in manufacturing and I saw so much trouble with that exact quick connection that I never want to see them again. Lol. But I hope they hold up for you. Thanks for the vid!
Scotch lock electrical connectors ....EEEEK
Too much like Knight Rider. Yes, I'm old.
Perfect
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
how the hell does splicing work? :(
You just use the quick splice connectors. You fold them over and crimp down with the 2 sets of wires inside
Should hook it up to fog lights
That's a good option for people who want to power it on with a switch
All shaker challengers come with the tool to take the shaker off I was cringing so hard
I copy everything you did and I don't see light. 😞
You may not have tapped into the headlight enough with the splice connectors. Did you check that the lights worked prior to the installation?
Is this street legal?
Depends on the color you chose to drive with. Can't do red or blue but white is fine. I'd just double check with your city and county
Nice, the remote will also let u turn off if desired?
@@josezuniga2540 yep for sure. Since the sensor is located near the front of the car I have to get out of the car to turn the lights off but that can be adjusted.
Would this be a good buy from my local dealership, carfax says was purchased in September, and i think repoed in Oct, over 3k miles in a month? Is that right.
Need your opinion.
@@josezuniga2540 send me a message on insta if you have one. Easier to chat on there. Ultimately hard to say. I don't know if a car would be repoed after only 1 month of missed payments (if that's the case). It does seem to be priced pretty low for a 2020 with this miles. Try googling the vin and see if something comes up.
Nobody needs this.
Not on mine boss 👎
