When my brother showed me this song my initial reaction was: wtf??
I'll see them live for the 3rd time next year.
Broke my leg during the first concert bc we partied too hard.
    Fcking love them.

"I dont know what direction".... get used to that feeling, it is a running theme.
Nobody told them that mixing styles are not done in metal and neither is fun and colors, and now everybody has given up because it is so very good.
Enjoy and embrace the chaos like the rest of us and check out their vlogs and making of videos. They are so very likeable.

Welcome to Electronic Callboy rabbit hole, cool EC reaction is instant subscribe ha ha. fantastic German band that mix metal, EDM, and pure pop into memorable earworms. Their Tekkno album was probably last year's best drop, and they made videos for all but 1 of the 10 songs, and just a FUN band. From here go with "Hypa Hypa", Pump It", "Spaceman", or "Tekkno train". Instant subscribe for me for review, EC are fantastic and described as 'the happiest band on earth' by most UA-cam reviewers ha ha.

They are German. Yup, they don't take themselves seriously, but they are excellent musicians. Usually listed as Electronicore, some like to call it partycore. Basically combining the electronic and pop with the metalcore. Formed in 2010, this is from the 2022 6th album, Tekkno. First full album with Nico on clean vocals . He joined in 2020 after original clean singer ,Sushi, left for another project. Kevin does the harsh. David , on drums, is always fun to keep an eye on in the videos. Daniel H. on guitar, Pascal on rhythm guitar, and Daniel K. on bass.
Yes Asking Alexandria, that is one of the bands they cite as influences, Attack Attack is another.
For more: "Hypa Hypa" and "Pump It" to start.

A thoughtful reaction to one of my favorite bands from such a small channel, that's an instant subscribe for me! It's especially cool to hear your take on the mixing/sound engineering; not many channels talk about this and in my opinion it's one of the most overlooked aspects of what makes their blend of metal and electronic stuff work really well. I hope you continue talking about stuff like that in future Electric Callboy reactions! Thank you! 💚

    Love "professional" reactions :-)
They record and mix the songs in house, one of the guitarists does. The other guitarist and his brother produce the videos. This one was made during lockdown, mostly as an excuse to have a party. At the time you were allowed to have business meetings up to 20 people, sooo ...

Wow, watching that whole thing unfold was really fun! It's like you went through the five stages of grief only in reverse.
And yes, recognizing the members is a real problem when this is someone's first EC video. Like Chris says, there are six members
I don't think they have even one song that doesn't have the electronic bits but I'm willing to be corrected if I'm wrong.
You're right though, the metal parts are seriously good. The EDM parts are also seriously good. They're seriously good at every single aspect of what they're doing. Metal, EDM, writing, mixing, video production. It's all top notch work.

Always enjoyable seeing a musician discover them and hearing the feedback from someone who can recognize what they are listening to.
The group is a blast. They seem like super nice guys in their interviews and off-stage stuff. They are extremely talented and very creative. The two main vocalists have done videos where they sit down and watch reactions to some of their releases, and you can see how absolutely appreciative they are that people enjoy what they do. They are a reaction friendly group and you can reach out to them directly for help if you have trouble with blocks/claims.
The clean vocalist is a newer addition. The song Hypa Hypa was his debut with the group. Prior to that, they have a pretty sizable catalog going back quite a few years, but it will sound a bit different. Not bad, just a difference to be aware of for someone newly exploring the band. They were also known formerly as Eskimo Callboy, so you may come across that name in places where it has not been changed to Electric Callboy.
They are definitely one of the better live bands I have seen, both in entertainment value and in how well they sound on a live stage.
They do have some "serious" songs, but a large part of what they do is more like this song was.
Looking forward to checking out your journey into their catalog.

While they were technically a metalcore band in the beginning, even in the "old days", with the previous lead singer, they were never shy of mixing styles and experimenting with genres.
They do have more serious songs too (every now and then) but barely anything with "pure" metal instrumentation.
Besides their own/ full band songs, you might be interested in the Drum Solo/ Kurwa Song Live in Cologne Lanxess Arena 2023. Drummer David Friedrich plays it over a remix of Darude's Sandstorm (the "Kurwa Song" title is an inside joke from their tour vlogs).
And in the case you are not familiar with them, Amaranthe from Sweden (besides the drummer who is from Denmark) might be right up your alley. Their style varies from melodic death metal over metalcore and electronicore to symphonic metal. Known for having three vocalists (female clean, male clean, male harsh).
Latest single Damnation Flame leans to symphonic metal, Archangel is more on the electronicore/ power metal side.

I honestly like the mix of metal and not metal. It's like the waves at a beach. It comes and goes and sometimes it hits hard and I'm all for it. We have a range of emotions and I feel they hit all of them well. That's one reason why I like Manowar so much, so many good highs and so many good lows

So much to say haha In a way they take their not being serious..seriously. They are very serious with the writing/composing of their songs. But they love to have fun during the videos and live performances. But they take what they do seriously but definitely come off as not taking themselves too seriously. They mix so much together and it takes each member knowing what to do and the masterful mixing and mastering of Daniel, one of their guitarists. He is the guitarist who isn't part of the brother duo who own a video production company and handle the filming of their videos. They've down behind the scenes videos such as the one for Catrop X Spandau where you can see him at work in the mix and as a musician/guitarist/mixer/mastering tech I love seeing that. From a drum perspective, David is amazing. Not just for what he does, but even what he doesn't do. And if you can follow..for what he does while he isn't drumming. You will notice that a number of their songs start with programmed beats with the 'techno' intro. Then he joins in on his kit when the drop hits and they hit you with the rock/metal. But instead of complaining that there are segments where there are programmed drums and he isn't physically playing, he takes that time and dances which you can see in the videos and live. Always adding to the song/video/live performance even if he isn't actively beating the shit out of his kit. His drumming is heavy but quite technical but also lays back when necessary. I knew he was a great drummer from the videos and live videos I saw but I just saw them in Denver and he laid down a masterful drum solo. This performance was great because after they released their cover of Every Time We Touch people joked in the comments.. "What are they gonna cover next? Sandstorm?" and lo and behold his drum solo was to Derude Sandstorm. Quite meta and they do reaction videos to reaction videos. They pay attention to what people say about them and I felt that was a solid nod to peoples reactions to that cover video. While they aren't as "HARD" as Lorna Shore (etc...) they certainly have a heaviness and one thing that really helps that which not everyone realizes is the syncopation between the music and the vocals. But not overplaying on drums and the same from the other instruments helps build that heaviness but still fits in perfectly with everything else they do. Apparently your video gave me a lot to say, so I'd applaud you...like and sub forthcoming.

Electric Callboy are the band I never knew I needed before I heard them for the first time. I love the seamless transitions between the different styles. And they are a lot of fun. ❤

To understand them you need to understand european music of the last 20 years. They're metal af but they got influences from hardstyle, dubstep, even use disco and german Schlager (that's like german pop but always like 20 years behind modern pop and often quite cheesy music).
All that stuff is european based like Netherlands, Belgium, France, GB and they mix it like it all belongs together like the bosses they are. The intersections between the parts are well made. Yes, they could do true and well made metal but the thing is they just don't want to. They're goofing around and having a good time, just a few lads combining styles and taking life easy. Those guys are absolute geniuses, the two singers are on point at screaming and can both sing clean, instruments and drums are always on point. It's always a party seeing them live, they're as good live as they are in their music videos.

Sorry but watching more of the video I had something else to say despite my previously posted novella. Check out Mindreader and Crystals (seriously listen to everything they've ever done and ever will do) but listen to those two for the more metal leading however still electronic elements mixed in however... you can feel how they can lean more to one than the other but do both awesomely. And leaning towards electronic or metal takes away nothing from the one they aren't leaning towards. Just wanted to point out that I feel that your assessment is pretty spot on without you having heard them do it...yet. But seriously..listen to em do it!
