I know what you mean. My husband is the cowherd. the Jersey matriarch follows him like she is a big hoofed Labrador, and I love working with her milk. They are wonderful beasts,
Drowning in Jersey milk; that is a fabulous predicament to be in! Margaret is the most beautiful surprise. So glad to see that all the bovine lovelies are doing well. Enjoy summer Elliott family!
@@RobinwoodFarmLLC I think she said that she wouldn’t do it again because it altered the taste. I’m not 100% sure, but she talks about it in a later video when she’s going through food in her root cellar 🥰
As an emergency room nurse during a global pandemic, life is crazy. And rough. But watching you turn cheese and butter making into such a beautiful art has made my night. I’m so thankful for this channel and your family for being my peaceful escape ✨🌻💛
Thank you for all you are doing as a nurse during this crazy time. May God wrap his arms around you. Stay safe and healthy. Greetings from Wisconsin. Karen
Thank you for the work you're doing as you risk your own well being for all... Those who've been respectful of the dangers we're facing and those who have failed. May God bless you and keep you and yours safe from all harm.
Something interesting. I watch a lot of videos on UA-cam from farming, gardening, design to cooking. Somehow without even knowing it - all the channels I watch are run by Christians who live their lives by the Word. We shall know them by their fruit !!
Awe....I just love your cows! I grew up on a 80 acre farm. My dad and mom raised us 9 kids by milking 28 cows. That was our life. It was the best life ever. I think of how blessed your kids are to have the life of the farm. So wonderful! ❤ Thanks for sharing your homestead with us. Greetings from Wisconsin. Karen
Isn't it crazy how getting back to where your food comes from makes things so much more precious. You don't just "get milk from cows" having a milk cow extends your family. That cow really dose share her milk with you and as a result you treat her like a queen and truly love her. My cow is so spoiled. Much better then the factor farming. I feel any ways.
Sometimes I wish I could do my life over so I could live the life I dream of now! Farming is such hard work and if you don’t have a partner who shares your dream then it almost becomes impossible. So I do what I can and take joy in my small accomplishments, thank you for sharing yours!
Thing like this just brings back wonderful memories of grandparents and not knowing how hard they worked for all of us grandkids. I carry on from what grandma showed me but it's from bought stuff out of the store I make butter. Your family is wonderful for keeping the old ways going thank you.
May I just say Thank you for respecting the sweet animals on your farm. For caring for them as you do. How very refreshing. Reminds me of my time as a child 50 years ago on an organic farm with parents that instilled in me the importance of respect for all living things. You are leaving an incredible legacy for your children and those who can see thru your eyes. Most sincerely thank you. Blessing to your sweet family and precious homestead.
Thank you for sharing your way of living and hard work, it's beautiful to see how tender hearted you guys are to your animals. Question: What happens to her babies?.
I grew up in the country across a dairy farm and the funniest memory I have was when they were building a new barn a few cows got stuck up on a huge mound of dirt and others broke free and started running down the road. 😂 Such simpler and happier times back then.
your vids are SO SOOTHING to my soul. the more i watch, the more i want to see,but at the same time...they are making my happy and sleepy due to the calm they bring. my hubbs agrees, because hes already asleep. lol.
Spring is looking glorious in the farmstead Shaye. I can just imagine how great it is to get fresh milk in the morning and make dairy products with it. I would love to have a dairy cow someday. 😊
Shaye, you forever inspire me and for that I am grateful! Getting ready to start the cheese recipe from our cooking community and now you've inspired me to dive deeper into cheese making. Thank you for making me a better person, cook, homemaker, homeschool mama, and more. I am ever thankful for you and knowledge and thoughts you pass along!
I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this video...I even had my husband watch it with me a second time since he grew up raising cows...this brought him a lot of nostalgia....He was intended to take over the 80 acre Farm with the 10 acre Pear and Pecan Grove here in Florida when we got married....but, his heart was pulled into a different career path.....No Regrets...but, such wonderful memories.....✌️💜💋
The ending really made me smile! I think it would be really great if you guys made videos showing your different processes for milking, fermenting, etc more in depth. I’m sure you’re both very busy but I feel like many of us would be interested in watching that. Sending your family love and light 💫
That's awesome! I remember on the farm how a Walmart bag came from some neighbor and the wind blew it up and the cows saw that bag and ran. It was kinda funny. I used to snuggle with the cow, she was so sweet.
Loved watching!! The farm, growing producing, and making from your intimate relationship with the land. Somewhere in every family there is a surprise baby. Margaret is beautiful, just look at those eyelashes! Thank you for sharing your life.
I used to make my own cheese. Your video is rekindling my want to start it again. I don’t have my own cow, but am looking into buying a milk share. Great video!
Your perseverance is commendable. 10 years on sourdough bread! You're an inspiration. I will always think of you and your sourdough bread when I feel like quiting.
What a beautiful journey with you this evening. I always cuddled the calves at my Aunt's dairy farm. One of the greatest memories of my younger years visiting the farm! Thank you for these precious glimpses into your beautiful home and family!
I made my first cheese this year. I made mozzarella and ricotta. We used 1 gallon of milk fresh from a farm. It was so much fun. We got butter too. I was able to show my daughter and grandchildren how to do this. It was so amazing to show the kids where it really comes from
These are the videos I watch again, and again, and again. They are so mesmerizing. Enchanting. Stunning. Inspiring! I can't get enough. ♡ Your animals look so peaceful and happy. ♡ I'm crossing my fingers for your cheese! I'm sure it will be perfect. ♡
What a beautiful video of your life living in the country. This really pulled at my heart strings and I shed a tear at the end. I've always wanted a milk cow and one day I will have one. Thanks for sharing this. You and your husband have such beautiful voices that is so relaxing. God bless you and your farm for years to come.
Oh my, what wonderful surprise! Both calfs are beautiful and very sweet. I have to agree with you about loving being on the farm and there is" no where else you would rather be." I am feeling filled with gratitude for our little 3 acre farm.
Simply gorgeous. You present all of this so beautifully! You are hard workers! We live on a 57 cow family commercial farm and it is a lot of work and yet such a beautiful way of life. Thank you for taking the time to share this inspiration with the world! Happy cheesemaking!
The best part about life is you never stop learning. You have to make mistakes whenever you learn. The more the better! That's how we learn and it's very much like practice. Practice makes perfect. If we do not keep going then it will be all for nothing. Never giving up and passionately pushing through the tough parts is what enables us to persevere! I have always dreamt of having my own dairy cow. Because I know my children can drink up to a gallon of milk a day. They love dairy raw milk more than anything. I love making the homemade yogurt and the different cheeses, labneh, mozzarella, farmer's cheese, and I love being able to grow alongside my garden and animals. It took me 9 years to master my bread making skills. And 5 years to master the perfect tomato sauce for pizza making. And our homemade tortillas took another 7 years to master the perfect texture that wasn't too hard as they cooled down. The best part is practicing everything. And I am always happy to watch your videos. Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing. Congrats on you beautiful bounty and healthy baby calves. Awwwwww
omg that made me cry. little george is so beautiful. thank you for sharing that. And the cheese looks amazing. I think this will be the year too. Wonderful. Butter is out as we have no cream separator but yeah....I may have to go back and watch again for the eye pleasing, eye candy. Agree, if we could have that one animal, it just might be a dairy animal for a bunch of our needs. Cheers.
I thoroughly enjoyed this MilkMaid video. I was brought on a farm in Iowa. Hot summer days. The smell of fresh cut hay. And my Dad milking at the end of a day. We did a family dairy cow for 11 years... made a lot of cheese. If the wax doesn't work out for you, try vacuum sealing the cheese. That ended up being the most effective for us. Wax sometimes ends up with mold between the cheese and the wax.
