Absolutely, and tone too. Drum sizes, tuning (loved the concert toms), cymbal choices, production, engineering. People always mention tone when it comes to guitarists, but it's every bit a part of what makes a drummer integral to an artist and/or song as well. He was clearly the PERFECT drummer for Dio era Sabbath and Dio.
@@Slickmickyoyo97 this is true about the tone! Was lucky enough to see him live with Dio with Vivian. An amazing show all around. Love his work with Heaven & Hell too. Basically that same era of Sabs reunited. The Devil You Know is a fantastic album.
I knew he was special the first time I heard Holy Diver as a young teen. He has a similar swing, groove and approach to Bonham. Both are deceptively complicated at times
Vinnie Appice is really underappreciated IMO. He should get way more attention than he's had. Here's a great example of how much feel he's got in his groove. And his time and accuracy are spot on. I love his use of drags on the snare into a down beat on the bass drum.
A performance that "humanize" will never get you in EZdrummer2 .. love these old iso tracks. McBrain is the same way, so in the pocket with great feel.
They have something very similar though. The Blue Murder debut has Carmine playing the hardest stuff he's ever done, it rivals anything his little brother played in Dio. They both hit so hard, but stay in the pocket.
Magnificent! This track is not the original from the Holy Diver album, I guess. But it is undoubtedly Vinny, maybe from a clinic at some point at the 2000's (we can notice the toms sound more resonant and with low end...DW's, I would say)

vinny is one of those drummers you can identify from the first few hits. I think that’s a very unique thing.
I’ve really come to appreciate the brilliance of Vinny Appice all these years later. Perfect timing, loose, open and yet precise. Thanks for posting.

Wow! You can that he played with his bd beater into the head because there’s a slight bounce/buzz. Vinny rules!

@@Slickmickyoyo97 so true!🤘
Man, he grooves. I love how his drum sound was never processed to the max.
I heard he didn’t use a click on this album.
One of the most underrated drum channel in youtube❤️❤️
I totally agree with you 👍🏼👍🏼

This might be the perfect kick drum tone.
That snare is great.
So loose he is almost swinging. Fantastic!
I love this track. So powerful yet balanced and full of air.
Very nice to jam to.
Thanks
1:02 such a cool cool fill
Thanks for posting these! Just shows how many neat intricate parts get lost in the mix of a full band! So cool!
I know this might sound crazy to some but he is my #2 or #3 guy after my #1 - Bonham. I love Ward, Peart, Barlow, etc
I love Vinny's style
This song is so fun to cover on drums

He's got some drum cam vids... outstanding!
Thanks. Keep em coming Kiboko 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is a revelation.
This is so very helpful, thank you!
GOAT Vinny
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Two brothers that are both drummers but have completely different styles is quite unique. I still like Carmine a little more but both are great imo.
They have something very similar though. The Blue Murder debut has Carmine playing the hardest stuff he's ever done, it rivals anything his little brother played in Dio. They both hit so hard, but stay in the pocket.
Now I can confirm that it's clearly a double stroke on bass drum right before the snare on the verse riff.
Heavy metal 🖤 🤘
After all these years I still can't figure out 80% of what V is playing. Like what the hell is that fill at 4:39? A true master at his craft.
Maybe crash and kick on beat and then there's between?
Like kick three snare, kick three snare, kick three tom, kick three tom?
Nice use of concert Tom's. Dont hear them much these days
Thankyou tomppppsterrrr

This is the original track from the album.
2:13 solo
Would love isolated tracks of Straight Through The Heart
I don't have any tracks of this song yet.
A perfect drum track! Is the reverb part of the original track or something added on by you?
I have not added any effects. This is how the drums sound on the album.
Oh..so that's how u play it...I'm a chronic over player...
That's called "over compensation".

Kiboko, do you take requests?
The drums on Danzig's first solo album are absolutely phenomenal... Do you think you can find it?
From this album I only have "Mother" track.
How did you rip the drums from the album?
These were already isolated tracks. I just mixed them in an audio editor.
