    Very nice. I've only been doing the Extraordinary Form for just over a year now. I'm not familiar with the Eastertide setting yet. Thanks for sharing!

      I am glad for you that you found out the Eternal Holy Mass of the Catholic Church. A 2000 years old Holy Mass, the only holy Mass, which can be retraced to apostolic times, can't be called the extraordinary form of the Holy Mass. Just saying...Happy and holy Easter. ✝🛐

    Lo trovo ancora più maestoso e celestiale con l'uso di un leggero accompagnamento d'organo.

    Great! This rendition of Victimae Paschali Laudes is the best one I have found yet. Chilling.
    Could you give me more information about the chanters?

      These are recordings of the Benedictine Monks of Fontgombault Abbey in France. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fontgombault_Abbey

    You don't by chance know where I could find scores for these organ accompaniments, do you? They are very beautiful

      I had some search. These recordings are from Fontgombault's Abbey. They are part of Solesmes congregation and the organist apparently bases himself in their method. You can search for Henri Potiron's accompaniments and treatises, but these recordings are somewhat simple to get the notes by ear.

      Certainly this organ's timbre and registers have a big role on the magnificent of these recordings.

    Are you sure this is Flavigny? Sounds like Fontgombault.

      Oh darn. YT automatically labeled it as Flavigny. No. You are right. It is absolutely Fontgombault.

    who is the composer? Is that not something that was kept track of?

    • @lucasorsot3345
      @lucasorsot3345  Рік тому +2

      I believe many Gregorian chants were written by monks, but they would usually never sign their name to the compositions (in view of their humbleness). Because of that, many chants are just anonymous.

    The vowel pronounciations of the e and the u are quite off, otherwise perfect recording

    • @lucasorsot3345
      @lucasorsot3345  Рік тому +5

      I agree totally. The French u sound can be very offputing to us Americans. And the closed, bright e is often out of touch with the darker, open "eh" sound. Welp! The French have been known for centuries to just do whatever they want.

    Another organ and another ruined chant. What a shame people keep applying 19th C + ideas of harmony and measuring to chant. Organ obliterates the majority of modal and rhythmic subtleties.

    • @SonetoG
      @SonetoG Рік тому +1

      Actually these organ accompaniments are based on a early 20th century rescue of the Gregorian Chant made by Solesmes Abbey. Is true that till 19th century, these subtleties are been obsucured by the high level of harmony development at that time, so they decided to make a review and keep evolving starting from what they had at the middle ages.
      It's true that the chant will not be in his full finesse with the organ, but the instrument can produce a new layer to the music which is not necessarily bad. I think we can just divide a accompanied chant from a unaccompanied and look them differently, but not comparing which one is better.
