- In the cellar, Sontaran Stike threatens to kill Jamie unless the Sixth Doctor gets into the module and primes it with his symbiotic print. Stike is about to execute Jamie anyway, but Jamie stabs Stike's leg with a concealed knife, and the Doctor and he run off upstairs, where they find the Second Doctor. Before they can release the Second Doctor and escape the hacienda, however, Shockeye shows up with the unconscious Peri. The Second Doctor feigns unconsciousness while the others hide. Doctor: The Sontaran's weak spot is the back of the neck.
Jaime: Screw that! *Stabs Sontaran in the leg*
😂
This story upsets me so much.
I've never seen such devotion to a character before. I adore how many times Patrick Troughton returned to Doctor Who, even just 2 years before his death he came back for another appearance as his beloved 2nd Doctor and he went on promoting this show even till the day before his death. Now I forever have 3 holes in my heart knowing I'll never get to meet William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton or Jon Pertwee.
GG3695 add John hurt to that list
and now Jacqueline Pearce from that same 2-Doctors storyline ( and B7 of course ).
I got to meet Colin Baker and Patrick Troughton in '96 in Minneapolis. I was 15. I remember shaking his hand, but I had my camera in mine and could only shake his hand with 2 fingers. Still bothers me to this day that I didn't give him a proper handshake.
Marc Olson Patrick Troughton died in 1987
@@JohnP906 he ment 1896, time travel an all
Every time the doctor meets one of his past selves they always argue.
ESPECIALLY when the Doctor they meet is the Second Doctor
It'd be interesting to see how 11 and 2 would interact
The Eighth Doctor once ran into the Eighth Doctor and they got into an argument with each other, lmao.
I would definitely argue with myself. One of us would probably kill the other.
@@cameronjosephvideos5942 Same story here.
I love how he was happier to see jamie than himself😂
To be fair, it's much more likely he will eventually see himself again than a previous companion.
2:46 - "Naturally. Don't expect any thanks." LOL one of my favorite Patrick Troughton lines in all of Doctor Who. I use it all the time when I want to be sarcastic about the thankless aspects of my job hehe.
Love the story behind rehearsing these scenes. Colin and Frazer kept sneaking up behind Troughton and tipping his wheelchair over backwards with him strapped in it! Patrick said that was a twist because he had planned to gang up with Frazer Hines on Colin Baker throughout the shoot of the episode, but they ganged up on him instead :D
Rachel Tanner You're in my gang! We should be ganging up on him!
This was still Patrick Throughton he died two years after though :(
Rachel Nagle wheelchair= related
Finn: twins uncle and grandnephew
That sounds hilarious
Aw, Pat. A merry prankster to the very end
A lot of people give the sixth Doctor a lot of crap when really, he cared about his companions just as much if not more than all of the other Doctors.
William Morrison and dont forget. troughton pulled out a knife after he regenerated. (from a lost episode. only screenshots and audio seem to show that)
William Morrison That and the lack of funding (thanks Michael Grade).
One of the reasons it was put on a one year hiatus.
William Morrison The early psychosis that involved him strangling Peri also makes complete sense when you consider what he had just been through as Five: for an entire incarnation, he tried to be empathetic and kind rather than alien, and the universe threw it back in his face. Then, as he died in pain, he was reminded of all the people he'd let down, and was taunted by an enemy he thought dead.
It's completely understandable that after that, he might be just a little bit unstable. And, of course, he deals with all that by throwing off the facade, and is unashamedly an incisive, brilliant and moralistic alien. I love Six because I see him as the Doctor in his purest form: he doesn't pretend to be anything else, and if people don't like that, tough.
TranscendentLion
You are right. He put up with a lot of whining from Peri as the 5th Doctor so it's understandable that he might want to strangle her.
I so agree 6th doctor was one of my faves hes like my 7 th fave
1 tom baker

3 Peter Davison
4 Patrick troughton
5 David tenant
6 Sylvester McCoy

@@doctorwhodapol Or get killed horribly by their enemies the Rutans.
Their space armour is so advanced it can't withstand a highlander's blade.
@@HovisSteve Could it withstand the firepower of a Space Marine's Bolter Gun from War Hammer 40K?
Jamie meshes naturally so well with 6 and Peri, it makes me long for an alternate dimension where Jamie stayed on as a permanent companion with Peri, and Colin got another season.
I agree.
Trial of a timelord was a big mistake. Season 22 was a decent start. He needed 2 or 3 more season 22 style seasons with better stories, better costume, and better writing for his companion.
"I'm not foreign, you're the one who's foreign! I'm Scottish!" - Jamie McCrimmon
12th Doctor: Why do you keep talking like that? What's gone wrong with your accent?
Jenny: Nothing's wrong with her accent.
12th Doctor: You sound the same, it's spreading. You all sound all... English, now you've all developed a fault!
Why does him that chair remind me of David Tennat going "Worst Rescue EVER!!"
I guarantee you production knew. Too similar to be coincidence.
Because you're not a real Doctor Who fan. Anyone who likes New Who, who tries to compare excellent Classic Who with crap New Who isn't a real Doctor Who fan.
@@fjccommish OK BOOMER.
Wonder if it's a reference to this?
fjvideo ...It’s the same show.
The one thing I find interesting about the Two Doctors is that the story makes the 2nd Doctor the present Doctor and the 6th Doctor the future Doctor since he's in his own past.
You're right. That doesn't happen... Ever, really.
That’s. Wow we need more of that. The last time recently has been Day of the Doctor right? With War being the protagonist
@@TaeSunWoo There was that scene where both 11th and War went to where the 10th Doctor was, which kinda made it part of the 10th Doctor era.
Colin Baker is genuinely great as the Doctor by this point. Dude deserved at least one more season
Big finish.
“I’ve come a long way for you!”
“Naturally, don’t expect any thanks.”
Classic Doctor to Doctor dialogue.
Jeez, Sontarans may be shorter these days but it seems like they'd be far less dramatic about a knife wound in the leg. Perhaps it's an inverse proportion where the less tall they become, the more they increase in sadomasochism?
Have you ever been stabbed in the leg by a time-travelling Scotsman? :P
Sounds like the title of a Monty Python song.
This must become a thing.
And this is why I love rewatching old videos- I find gold like this buried in the comments section
A time travelling Scotsman in his McTardis!
Clever of them to ditch the coat for the majority of this one.
Yeah...that coat is HIDEOUS. Like, DAMN.
I WANT IT.
Thank the LORD
Pretty sure they ditched it because it was hot. Not because it was ugly
It would have messed with the Chromakey
I think it was more the fact they spent a fair bit of time in Saville Spain and that coat would not work in that heat however I pity the actors of the sontarans being roasted in the heat wearing them costumes
Seeing Patrick Troughton return for the show's 21st Anniversary year was utterly delightful.
Probably the best thing Patrick Troughton had ever done, at the time.
This was closer to the 22nd
@@Freezer28528 Quite similar to the 10th Anniversary special being closer to the 9th.
Yeah. That's not the only weird fact about anniversary specials. The 20th Anniversary special aired on the 23rd of November in the USA,but the 25th in the UK.@@mekonta
Seeing The Doctor meet his past/future selves is always a brilliant thing to see.
If he dyed his hair black you wouldnt notice he aged
Yeah! I'm surprised that they didn't do that in the first place!
Apparently he refused to dye his hair or wear a wig.
and that was the point
In lore, 2nd's hair turned grey after the events of the BBC Past Doctor Adventures novel World Game which sets up the notorious Season 6B idea. This clip and the 2nd participation in The Five Doctors falls into this jurisdiction
Stike didn't need a Time Lord to prime that time machine! He just needed to stop mashing several buttons at once with the end of his sidearm!
"The sidearm you have used to dial is too fat. To purchase a special dialling wand ..."
Stop stabbing me, BOY!

...only in a Colin Baker episode would there be a violent stabbing so Colin could get away...love this era....
***** I don't remember that! Which episode was that? I do remember the fight in the Matrix in Deadly Assassin, but it's been a few years. Guess I'll have to dig out the tape - thank dog my TV plays DVDs and VHS.
Woah.. Can you tell me the specific episodes that a couple other Doctors have been violent like that? Just wanna see those scenes. Don't care if classic or modern.
CookieorCreme AJ Jon Pertwee shot and killed an Ogron
James Twelves I know right? Season 22 is underrated?
The first doctor would of killed that injured cavemen because he was slowing him down if it wasn't for Ian in An Unearthly Child
I would love to see a regular episode have a Muti-Doctor adventure like this, with just two Doctors involved. With the amount of time travelling the Doctor does, one would expect these kinds of encounters to happen more often.
no they actually cant, the first law of time forbids time lords crossing their own time streams, if you look at the multi doctor stories they are ALL there at the hands of others
the three doctors the time lords took 1 and 2 out of their time line to help three
the five doctors some one was taking the doctors out of their time and dropping them in the dead zone
in the day of the doctor the moment opened a door between their time lines
Seriously, I love the classic multi-Doctor stories, all three of them. This one has my two favourite Doctors, though, so naturally it's probably the best for me, but I can't say for sure.
Dude literally same! And the third episode is my favorite part of the serial because of their interactions! I also love the behind the scenes stories, because Colin was a good friend of Pat’s son, and naturally frazer and Pat are good friends. Truly amazing
An underrated story from the underrated season 22.
Colin really came into his own here.
Great performances from John Stratton and Jacqueline Pearce
Troughton and Holmes were as wonderful as always.
The Sontatan masks were abysmal however.
I love in the beginning that the doctor is so sure until they threaten Jamie, there you see that he really cares :)
Jenny Andersson also it was kinda part of his plan. He wanted Styke to make him use the machine
It kinda hurts that some people don't know who Jamie is...
WE LOVE YOU JAMIE, DONT BE SAD!
oops. My whovian is showing.
Jamie is my favourite male companion ^-^
Jamie is second only to the Brigadier.
What about Ian?
DarthRushy Ian is very important too. Let us not forget the sassy history teacher.
Maddie Barraclough Imagine if he'd been the Curator, the old man with a secret who could've called 11 "my boy"...
It's like Patrick had a lot of fun as the doctor and didn't mind coming back for more.
Don't ya love it when the title of the clip (i.e. the reason someone would most likely be watching) only applies to the last 4th of the video's duration?
2:03 - You know, if Emperor Palpatine and Elton John had a baby...
SOOOOO glad somebody else noticed this. Every time I watch classic who, it is blighted by supposedly malevolent characters wearing either large trainspotter 80's glasses, or something from Dame Edna's private spectacle collection. Nyder is the worse example. Dressed head to toe as a space Nazi, and then he has those goofy, over-sized poindexter bifocals that takes you right out of the moment. Once you realise how much of a pandemic they were, you won't be able to not see them all over the 70's and 80's stuff.
this was pattrick throughton last performance before he died
R.I.P Patteick Bless All
Actually, it's not. He worked on the last episode of Supergran after this
Stefano Pavone also where his 6th doctor coat it's missing?
He did inspector Morse the same year he died.
Oh no...RIP Patrick. I think you would’ve loved watching your grandson on Robin Hood years later
The time machine is smaller on the inside than it is on the outside.
no shit sherlok
+april white You're completely missing the point.
You know, I thought it was. Glad it's not just me.
SIDRAT
Impossible!
i love how 6 told Jamie to run, like he was reveling in it.
"Rrrrun, Jamie!"
Out of universe, Troughton loved doing The Five Doctors episode that he was eager to return to the series yet again.
After watching the Troughton years, I gain an appreciation for this episode. Pretty cool in its own right
I just love the way that 6 just yells out 'RUN JAMIE!'
My therapist: It's ok tall Sontaran doesn't exist, he can't hurt you.
Tall Sontaran:
It's because he's been away from his high-gravity native planet for so long.
He liked both. He said in an interview that all subsequent doctors own parts of thier performance to Troughton
My favourite multi doctor story after the three doctors, even though it takes a long time to get there, the interaction between Colin and Patrick is great.
Thats why the third episode of the serial is my favorite!
Love the Peter Howell incidental music when Jamie stabs Styke...
I liked this story. It just goes to show how underrated Colin Baker was
I got the DVD due to it featuring Troughton
This story is sooo underrated.
This, along with Revelation of the Daleks, is my favourite Six story!
It's a classic this one
Yes it is one of the best not just of Colin bakers time but of all time much better than the PC nonsense of today
Stephen Taylor oh, shut yer yap
@@stephentaylor7004 PC? I'm sorry, but Peter Capaldi's tenure on the show is over.
3:02 That guys got the best job LOL
WORST RESCUE EVER!!!!!!
Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!
I love that the Sontarans talk the same way in both Classic and New Who
Ehmm - watch The Invasion of Time and see them chase "Dok - torrrrh"
Major styre sounds very different
Go watch the sontaran experiment
Holy crap...that Sontaran is HUGE! And completely without honor!
Bluesit32 Sontarans were far more tactical back in the classic era
Lol "How to Make a Pudding Brain" popped up at the most ironic possible moment.
2:56 "Worst rescue ever!"
Probably two of my current favorites together, how wonderful...still...can;t beat when 3 and 2 get together. That is always fun.
This is 2 and 6, not 2 and 3.
yes, the classic episodes were done in one take, due to the film amount availible at the time
I love these types of crossovers..imagine versions of yourselves from different timelines
I wish the next companion(s) would be from another time instead of always being from 21th century....I kind of hoped that with Clara Oswald, but no, the original one had to be from 21th century London....Not really complaining about her though, she's brilliant! But you know...
I agree, all of time and space yet always 21st century London Companions lol.
Or perhaps a non-human again c:
What about all the companions from classic Who?
Well exactly! In classic Who a lot of the assistants were from the past, future, other planets, metal dogs etc. But ever since new Who....Rose, Martha, Donna, Wilf, the Ponds, Clara Oswald....they are all from "our" time.
i'm not pushing for someone from the future at all, just someone alien (romana 12? lol) or from the past (didnt see a lot of him but someone like jamie brought something special to the show i think) or just differentt from the cute girl from UK. Although again the Ponds were good, and i love clara, but I think they could do so much more regarding the companions.
I finished watching this yesterday on DVD and I loved it. For all of those who say this is rubbish clearly aren’t Doctor Who fans.
"Supper will soon be served."
So... eating Peri?
Actually yes, that was the plan. As a dedicated chef he has wanted to sample as many different foods as possible and he had never tasted human before.
I love how mis-timed and out of sync the 'snap' is, just adds to the charm hahaha
Has it really been 30+ years since I first saw this? Yeah, I feel really old but this was still a decently done but underrated story.
First of all, I'd like to note that I think the Sontarens look hilarious regardless of improvements in technology and costumes and so on. They just always look like baked spuds. Actually technology has only emphasised this image.
Second, I actually like this Doctor, just for being the sixth Doctor and he was actually very good. Each Doctor carries aspects of those before them. Think about some of Six's first lines, I think he probably sounded like earlier Doctors. He was a bit younger and so he was a bit more energetic like Five, with an older brother air about him, though in this Doctor's case it was probably much older brother. Maybe uncle status? Hmmm
Man, Patrick was from the black and white era, and he's still making appearances in the later series of the sixth Doctor.
1:35 Great music in this episode
Really when Six enters you can just see Two thinking "What the HELL is he wearing!?"
Luke: WHAT HAVE U DONE?!
Colin Baker: Well, the weakness is at their knees...(many years later) Tennant: Well, it is their Back now...
I love the music in this story
I’m currently going through the classic era, I’m super excited to get to six. I just finished two so it’s good to see my second favorite dynamic duo again.
Awesome! 6 and 4 have the biggest Timelord balls of them all!
@@docwho10th88 I’ve been sneaking some bits of six and he seems like a total BAMF I just can’t wait!
I love that vest!
I've come a long way for YOUUUU! :3
I saw this episode when I was very, very young and I remember it very vividly
His vest is lovely.
I don't understand why people call 6 heartless. My man did not even hesitate when Jamie was held hostage.
Jamie will forever be one of my favourite companions
Plus, Colin was a huge fan of Troughton, so he was of course delighted to work with his idol.
Shows just how much Troughton enjoyed the show that he came back three times.
Massively underrated story. My fav Baker story. Despite Tall Sontarans
pause after half a second and it sounds like he says I am Groot
Considering how old this is, its very good. Dr Who will always be the best thing the BBC ever made
1:37 Jamie McCrimmon, the only individual in the Who-niverse to defeat a Sontaran with an old dagger
Well, in the Invasion of Time, Leela DID kill a Sontaran with a dagger. Threw it right into its probic vent.
@@patricklyons794 Why did she have to do that if it would work anywhere?
@@fjccommish It's not SUPPOSED to work anywhere else. The probic vent is the Sontaran's one weakness. A light blow there can stun. A heavy blow can kill. On the other hand, it means the Sontarans will never run away, as they would be exposing their weakness to their enemy.
@@patricklyons794 In this episode, a simple knife was able to injure the Sontaran on the leg. If a knife can get through the armor, then almost anything can.
2:35 Died laughing
Colin actually seems like a decent doctor in this tbh.
He was a great Doctor. He was sometimes let down by poor storylines. If you had put Tom Baker in Timelash or The Twin Dilemma it would still of been awful.
@inspector morse better than whittaker that's for certain
He’s a great doctor. Don’t believe the haters
He’s basically the Whittaker of the classic era, he is an underrated doctor but the writing is what brings him down
Dat cheesy mid 80s music at 1:34 is so awsome! XD
I'm meeting Colin Baker and Frazer Hines at Chicago TARDIS
How was it?
it had to be Jamie here because if Stike had threatened Peri the Doctor would have just gone, "eh, kill her if you like - I already tried" ;)
Shockeye wanted to eat her.
Can't blame him for that, I've had the same thought myself.
STNeish
😒 Ew.
CaruCath97 nah, six would still have gone inside. He even later reveals that it was all part of his plan
well, now I finally understand what people are talking about when they say strax is ruining the idea what sontarans stand for...
Try dailymotion- lots of classic episodes are on there :)
Strax is only one example of a Sontaran though, and remember, he was forced to be a nurse, so of course he's not going to be as fearsome as the others. Though I do think there needs to be another Sontaran episode to restore them to their prime.
Sontaran stratagem/ poison sky were pretty good in my eye, shame
We haven't had a sontaran story since. :(
Strax was scorned and punished by being forced to help the weak. Of course he's going to be much different from the rest of the Sontarans.
TwoTimeLords ...the new series had them played for serious threat/horror, too (see that episode with both martha and donna - the Doctr basically tells unit to run on sight), strax was just meant to be an one-off character, but a large enough people happened to like him, so he became a regular, but they didn't plan for him to become one...
This is my favorite scene from The Two Doctors
I love the soundtrack
Jamie aged well at that point.
3:01 Legs alert!
Ironically it was the only episode she actually wanted them out
2: snap!
6: baby gator laser noise
2nd Doctor: “Snap!”
6th Doctor: *duck quack*
Why do the Doctors hate each other? I can understand 2 and 3 being polar opposites, but the first thing 2 says here is: "Don't expect any thanks."
Why not? 6 saved his giddy backside!
Ego's.
Besides the other reasons listed here, I think previous Doctors - like anyone else - don't like to be reminded that they'll die someday, and future Doctors find meeting their previous selves...creepy. Uncanny Valley time. So one reacts badly and the other snaps back, then it's time for all the verbal one-upmanships and ego jousting. I think it would've been hilarious if Three and Six had ever met, given their individual fashion statements, but alas, that's not possible outside of fan fiction.
Russell Kostal It'd be way too stuffy. 2 and 11 would be awesome though or 3 and 12(they have much more similarities than 1 and 12)
I'm not even sure. It just feels odd to think of 1 and 12, like oil and water.
2 is grumpy that's why! 😄
So they were always large potatoes
'I've come a long way for you!'
'Well you would, I'm you.'
This story was the return of Robert holmes writing Patrick and Frazer since the Krotons. Dont forget that.
How can one be afraid of an alien that looks like a Mr. Potato Head?
Okay,
1: Since when did the Sontarans look like freaking wolverine-potatoes?
2: I love how the Second Doctor is all like, "Naturally. I don't expect any thanks." He knows himself so well.
he never said "I don't" he said just "Don't"
Doctor Who is Better Than You the Sontarans always looked like that until nu who
Oh I don’t freaking know maybe back than they didn’t have what we have today and different effects and technology
Why is that every incarnation of The Doctor seems to dislike each other?
destructionsnakepit the Doctor always wants to be the smartest man in the room, which gets tricky when there are more than one as both are competing for that status.
The Time Lords sort of "freeze" the paradox if you will(possibly like the Master did in the Sound of Drums) until the job is complete. This power has been mentioned several times in Classic Who and New Who.
I still look pretty good
Well the sontarans have certainly shrunk over the years...
rzg101 The Sontarans in "The Two Doctors" are dreadful - costume, make-up and voices are rubbish and they are far too tall (I think Doctor 3 describes them in The Time Warrior as "nasty, brutish, and short"). Some fans, in post hoc explanation, have speculated that the Two Doctors ones must be a mutant clone batch! I still think Kevin Lindsay's original Sontaran, Lynx, in "The Time Warrior" is the best (although the new series Strax is a lot of fun).
David Tenant did the rolling chair scene
Love the music at 1:34
